mu2sa2:There are stories of PhD holders driving taxis in Canada to earn a living. I know a few of my previous MSc classmates who have masters degrees and work as security guards in the UK. If what's necessary isn't available, the available becomes necessary. |

This is a way of knowing a "privileged" Nigerian who knows outside the nepotism and shambolic state of Nigeria, he can't progress. 1. ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A DOCTORATE AND SPEND TWO YEARS DOING SECURITY JOBS, TEACHING AND LECTURING JOBS ARE AVAILABLE. 2. Starting small to ensure he pays his bills without feeling entitled is not a crime because he is looking beyond this day. 3. How much do you think the salary of a lecturer in Nigeria is( let's not consider the part that they are either owed or paid percentages). Now if he works as a "maiguard" @ 8.72 pounds per hour 40 per week that leaves him with 348pounds per week. Tax deductions will take 40 quid, leaving with 308x4=1,232. Rent and all including feeding takes 800 from him and he will be left with 432 multiplied by 660= 285,160. Which is more than his salary. I'm trying to imagine how he will save such in Nigeria if he isn't involved in a shady business. Truth is what works for you cannot work for someone else. Laslas Buhari will still leave as a president, people will den be made to understand that no one has monopoly of stupidity, nepotism and madness. mu2sa2: |

chianddora:Wow, this is quite terrible... I try not to judge the desperation of people fleeing unstable countries because they often flee to the countries that helped destabilize their nation... But the idea of people coming to countries and doing all these things that evade personal responsibility. Like, why come here and have multiple baby mamas but then do all you can to avoid financial responsibility for them? Do you even do that in your own country?? Disgusting. Or coming here and not respecting the legal age limit, thereby victimizing our kids... and why watch porn on the job? The fact that these are considered common things to warn against... is this Nigerian culture to sleep with teenagers and watch pornography at work? A lot of Nigerians travel abroad and engage in criminal activity. Sometimes they are forced into it such as with human trafficking but sometimes they leave with intentions of engaging in such. There should be more respect shown to the country they are visiting, to its people, and its laws. |

In developed countries, there are two kinds of people that don't commit crimes: (a.) People who are law-abiding and (b.) People who know that the long arm of the law would eventually get them if they commit crimes regularly. In Nigeria, the second group (b.) is a very small minority because our law enforcement is both ineffective and inefficient. That's why some of them travel abroad with a criminal mind-set that they can always cheat people and the system. McSquishi: |

chianddora:Lol... What an expose innit! ![]() Due diligence is crucial so as not to become a laughing stock in another country because these countries are heavily wired or digitalised. If caught doing illegal stuff... you'll pay a heavy price!

omohayek:I don't have the time for endless bickering with those that cant argue without personal attacks. I'm happy you said according to your history book, that white ancestors from Europe fled or tried to flee to other countries due to then harsh conditions. This means that, like in the current case of Nigeria, this is a stage that will pass. That, if we all did not panic, abandon the country and flee, Nigeria will evolve and develop. If you are biased against your country, especially ,due to bad leadership, you can always come up with a million excuses to migrate for a better life. The mindset you keep is a matter of choice. I have chosen to beleive in my country and race, no matter what. |

knowyaself2:It's your problem if you can't distinguish criticism of your empty rhetoric from "personal attacks". There's nothing "personal" about saying your arguments are nothing more than content-free appeals to "patriotism" that in the face of overwhelming evidence, it's simply a statement of fact. |

omohayek:I'm afraid, you're talking nonsense. You are also silent about my second paragraph above, aren't you? Stop exaggerating the challenges we face and stop demarketing our country, please. You lack wisdom. |
| Re: Weird Things Nigerians Do In UK And America To Avoid Deportation by omohayek: 5:14pm On Apr 07, 2021 |
knowyaself2:Glad to see you've given up your "holier than thou" posturing and revealed yourself as the grand projector you really are! Either you've never stepped outside of your village, or you're living in an alternative universe from the rest of us, to accuse anyone of "exaggerating the challenges we face" even as you reside in a country which now has the most poor people in the world - even more than India with 6 times the population - and where GDP per capita has declined for 6 years in a row. Nigeria is a sh*thole in which clean drinking water, 24-hour power supply, well-maintained roads and trustworthy policing remain science-fiction fantasies, a failed state only worth defending in the eyes of ignoramuses without a clue just how far behind the rest of the world is leaving them. Keep telling yourself you live in paradise and maybe one day you might even believe your own ridiculous propaganda. |

omohayek:Did you really expect kind words from me after your disrespectful submission? You are funny. If you attack me, I reciprocate, I'm not a coward. Even though your argument so far doesn't detract from the valid points I've made. Failed state, the poorest country in the world, etc. Such narratives can only be sold to failures that are looking for excuses to justify their personal shortcomings. I'm a business man that has done well for himself in this same so called failed state, and I've traveled to many countries on business and holidays. I also know there are poor and struggling people even in the most developed countries. Yes, their overall standard of living might be better than what we have here, but most of such countries have come a long way in terms of governance and economic development. They probably passed this phase we are passing currently. But the difference between them and people like you is that they never gave up on their country. You can say and entertain whatever negativity you like about your country, if it gives you satisfaction, but don't try to force it on others. No one is saying here is a paradise, no where is a paradise anyways, but we have potentials for growth and prosperity like other advanced countries whether you believe it or not. |

drLammy:Where in the write-up did he discourage you to leave? If you want to, he only advised to leave through the legal route, else you face the consequences, such as deportation, imprisonment, and travel ban. I believe English isn't so hard to comprehend. |
