Nnamdi Kanu founded the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in 2012 off the back of his massively popular Radio Biafra which he started in 2012. The years 2012 to 2015 were quiet as the government of Jonathan largely ignored the group.

Then Maj. Gen. Buhari (retd) became president, IPOB faced a different approach. The government took them seriously and violent clashes after another saw the federal government declare IPOB as a terrorist group (a declaration that the US, the EU, and the UK refused to endorse).

Watching IPOB revolved as a group and following the utterances of their leader Nnamdi Kanu without sentiment, you would struggle to like them. In fact, the group is set up to attract animosity and feed off the hatred the authorities, outsiders, and wary insiders nurse towards them.

Is this tactic sustainable? Only time would tell.

In the meantime, hate IPOB if you may, but for the sake of objectivity, you owe IPOB (no, yourself) one question, what do they really want? This question is hard to answer and can be the stuff of dissertations. It is easier to answer questions about the historical wrong that has been done to their people for which we urge you to ask five questions aloud and try to answer them before you condemn IPOB.

They won’t answer your question. I used to hate IPOB and their methods until Buhari and his bandits came and started oppressing them and Igbos at large. The killings of people with only flags and the wanton disregard for every sense of reasoning and empathy has made a lot of Igbos become sympathetic to the group.

The biggest thing that skyrocketed their popularity is the establishment of ESN which the useless governors didn’t want to establish.

This is the same case of turning artillery on unarmed people , when igbo land arm themselves they will start looking for Egyptian pilots, Russian and British support and when they start loosing their military divisions, they will turn to starvation of women and children

We need to separate myths from the truth if we're going to reach anywhere.
Yes there are killings in the ebonyi and other southern States.
But compared to what the Northerners are undergoing it look like southerners are only been spanked.
Look I'm not excusing these killers reprehensible act as even one life is too many to lose.

When the so called federal might sends all their soldiers to the East, what happens to the north? Boko Haram will simply occupy the whole north. No more soldiers to stop them. Boko Haram right now is stronger than Nigerian army. When the soldiers in the east hear that their wives, mothers and sisters have been taken as concubine by boko Haram fighters, what do you think will happen to their morale? I am just asking
