Actually, this is not a new law. It has always been there. It's just that one some times can get shot when standing up for your rights. Businext: |

Judgment is not the problem in Nigeria but its enforcement. How do you explain this to an illiterate VIO Kazeem that stop you at Surulere, asking for certificate of roadworthiness and you show him court judgment, exempting private car owners from getting one. Will he listen to you. Actually, this certificate of roadworthiness is supposed to be for public vehicles but the corruption in the Nigerian system will not allow them to focus on danfo but will rather choose to harass private car owners. 2 Likes |

The issue is not about road worthiness. The laws back that up. Vehicles bought brand new mist be subjected to road worthiness checks after two years from the date of first registration. They are only exempt in the first two years. Tokunbo vehicles or other vehicles are subject to road worthiness checks and certification. This news is about hackney permit for private vehicles. Private vehicles used for private purposes are not required to possess hackney permits. This is where the VIO and those touts get it wrong. You see them stopping private buses and pickup trucks requesting for hackney permits which is not backed by the law. A privately registered vehicle does not need hackney permit by law. 1 Like |

DubaiLandLord:It only applies to Delta state because Road worthiness for private vehicles is not in the state laws. Lagos already passed law to that effect. |

Sha just know delta is not Lagos... When VIO book you for not having road worthiness paper in Lagos don't quote what happen in delta. Meanwhile, for your vehicle documents, tinted permit, spy number plates, customized number plates and dealer number plates... I still remain your trusted contact. Good one for private car owners. I also need a good lawyer to help fight the case of factory fitted tinted glasses. The Nigeria police have been a pain in d ass. |

The fact is that if you are a private car owner in Nigeria your are an endangered specie., especially if your car is not relatively new. The police, frsc will look the other way as if they are afflicted with mengitis when an overloaded dilapidated smoky lorry or truck is coming just to collect #100, and without a whim stop a private car and start to conduct, what I don't know, and without cause, book you for inoperative inner light, not carrying toll rope, knife etc, whatever they fancy. But the army are not same of been enemies of private car owner, because I have not been harassed by them. But the Delta State judgement in respect to private cars owners not required to have such, does it apply to all Nigeria States? |
Re: Private Car Owners Do Not Need Roadworthiness Issued By VIO - Appeal Court by Nobody: 9:17am On Apr 12, 2021 |
Belleful:You don't require a paper to operate a car fitted with tinted thin paper or factory embedded, it has been abolished. If you want to fight it out in court. First be ready to undergo some discomfort, when your car is impounded on a written statement from the police that your car is impounded for the sole reason of having a tinted car. Secondly, ready to pay your case the case cost to a competent lawyer. For you to get a competent lawyer ask him or her questions, for example how many court case/s has he or she won? if adjourned for whatever reasons? State your case to he or she which is to be pursued and ask him evidence to show that the police have wronged you, before going to court. Most default many Nigerian have, is not knowing the need to have a personal lawyer, physician, accountants, even a high ranking police. |

DubaiLandLord: They don't know the meaning of roadworthiness certificate. So it is a wrong judgement to the core. All vehicles whether cars or jeeps etc must be roadworthy before they can play the road. That is why all vehicles will be inspected before they can play the roads. Delta courts are joking indeed. It will be reappealed by VIO. |
