After my resignation from my former job where I served as a manager in a very small private firm, rather than being idle while waiting for NYSC,I stated working in a bet9ja outlet owned by my cousin's husband.
Its a month working there but I lost close to 20k due to debts from customers,
1) Gamblers are greedy that why will continue stacking with empty pockets hoping to win to at their debts

2) They stack so high, like 1.5k for 3tickets once , they won't be able to pay if the game isn't won

3) The shop is located near a university, some will drop their school files, textbook and other valuables as collateral and will never return for it

4) Most of them do fake transfer
At end of everything, I use my personal money to make up these, my savings is zero now.
Am scared of being idle at home, at same time I loose money daily

No doubt, there's side money and tips aside salary but you will end up using the money to pay for debts
Yoù b mumu..
That form of gambling is addictive
So if dem no pay cash.. no play game for them

So someone wants to gamble, they don't pay but do it on credit. You are a funny person. So na so you dey run your betting business? Betting shop owners take advantage of the gamblers greed to get rich while you are busy being a victim of their greed. That's quite unique.

Ordinary bet9ja shop you cannot handle and you expect a company to hire you?..

Why would you do business without collecting money first when you're not the owner of the shop .. u need to wise up and be a man.. let them know they can't stake if they don't pay... take charge..
Thanks

Lol...this one na softie.. I work as a cashier here, and I no dey smile with customers, as you play naso you dey pay. I no dey hear "sorry bro, lemme go and get your money". When I started at first, I was like you, until them use my salary de cancel debt owed by customers, omo nobody tell me to wise up now. Customers know when you're soft, hence they'll play you, but just change it for one customer one day and see how the rest will start behaving.. Wise up bro.
Thanks

,
1) Gamblers are greedy that why will continue stacking with empty pockets hoping to win to at their debts

PAY BEFORE BETTING. DONT LISTEN TO ANY ABEG. DONT BE AFRAID TO BE CALLED WICKED.

2) They stack so high, like 1.5k for 3tickets once , they won't be able to pay if the game isn't won

SAME AS ABOVE

3) The shop is located near a university, some will drop their school files, TEXTBOOK and other valuables as collateral and will never return for it

STOP COLLECTING COLLATERAL. THE ONLY COLLATERAL YOU NEED IS MONEY

4) Most of them do fake transfer
At end of everything, I use my personal money to make up these, my savings is zero now.

CONFIRM ALL ALERTS FROM YOUR BOSS BEFORE ANY CUSTOMER LEAVES. IF HE IS NOT AROUND, FLASH HIM. HE SHOULD CALL TO CONFIRM EVEN N50.

You can own this game. Just keep strictly to the rules and you won't lose a dime. There is no easy job out there.
Best piece gotten here
thanks
am adapting anyways

you should play by the rules....how would allow a customer playing virtual bet to keep staking without paying you once, twice, thrice etc, yet losing n you are still playing?
you should be blame too cos the owner might hv said no credit. so learn to limit them n stand on your grounds, customers no go kill you if you say pay before I play or give u your betslip.

those criticising you about working there n betting as bad should also know you caused your own misfortunes. gambling us part of life n i hv been dojng it since 2011 n never been bankrupt or addicted. ...you get responsibly n see it as fun simple!
Thanks

You don't allow them to hold mouse, you book for them. You don't have clear rules, that's why.
Maybe, no proper guidance before working

Thanks for the advice, critism and harsh words

Never judge a man until you've walked twice in his shoes. The
betting atmosphere is a jungle. Very few cashiers escape this
experience.

This is just my first one month into this job, and I had no clean guidance on the new job as there's urgent need for works then

I learnt in a hard way
there's great difference already

before I tthought that humans are the ones coming there
not knowing they have no conscience any longer

I trusted them easily that landed in the mess
but its not same today

thanks everyone

That's why it's not good to work in isolation. Try to visit other shops and observe how they operate.

But I can't advise you to continue though if your conscience is disturbing you about it.

All the best.

I understand what cashiers go through in the hands of customers.i dot deduct money being owned by customers from my cashiers money rather,I give them strict warning not to play for such customer till he pay his debt.
my cashiers salary is always paid in full.two of they have been working for me since I started my business, about 2yrs ago and are always happy.i give dem food and bonus sometimes.
Baba, like how much should I prepare myself to start this betting business. I'm really interested in having the business. kindly give some pieces of advice.

I don't know that managers have problems in this betting of a thing.

We advised people to stay away from gambling but they will not listen.

Experts agree that you should stay at your place of employment for a minimum of two years. It's enough time to learn new skills and build your qualifications, while short enough to show that you value growing in your career.

@op you are too soft, you are not fit for that job and you claimed to be a graduate for that matter, what if you are working in a bank as a credit administrator, you will just be approving loan for every tom, dick and Harry without due diligence and puting in place proper controls.

Even if you own your own personal business and you are running it the way you are running your in laws business, you will use your own hand to crumble your own business. Selling on credit crumbles normal business on the long run if there are no controls put in place, let alone allowing people to bet on credit, that's laughable, betting which is a game of 50/50 chance, you allowed people to stake on credit. And you expect
a debtor who lost is game to still pay up, bet debtor won't have the zeal to pay once the game is against them. Nobody is doing you bro, you are the one doing yourself.

If you can't handle a small betting shop which is a small challenge now, how will you manage a big organisation which will come with higher responsibility and challenges?
