The competition is known to be sort of a scam.

Since it's an olympiad style competition there aren't many beginner friendly books. Basically the four topics for olympiads are:
Number Theory
Geometry
Algebra
Combinatorics

I can suggest books for all topics but none are beginner friendly(they all require you to be able to understand and write proofs at the least) so you'll have to put in some effort with them.

Another good maybe even better way of preparing is to try out past AMC/AIME exams. That way you get more familiar with olympiad style questions.

Please I'm looking for a study partner for Jamb particular for the sciences; Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English is on the table as well.
I'm currently self studying, I've found out it's better for me as I am always distracted at Jamb lesson centers. I aim to review, and relearn important parts and objectives of the syllabus and frequent practice exams. I've noticed that on most Jamb and post utme WhatsApp groups there is only throwing of questions and no real interaction where knowledge or help is exchanged. Please if you are interested do contact me on Whatsapp let's study helping each other, Thanks.
P.S The subject combination is Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

ok thanks can you recommend books for both
Challenge and Thrill of Pre-College Mathematics
Pathfinder to Olympiad Mathematics

These two are a good starting point because they touch on all four topics and cover some basic stuff. There are also specialized books for the four topics I mentioned but they come with many prerequisites that can make reading them hell.

You can get the books at www.b-ok.xyz

Please I need help in solving any two of these mathematics questions.

Pls help share as well thanks.

Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by IQvectors: 9:02pm On Apr 14, 2021
Please someone should help me solve this math under the topic ratio.

1. A,B and C contributed #8000, #6000, #4000 respectively as capital to an enterprise. Out of the total profit in a year, C received #500 for his services as a manager. Each of them received 20% on the first #3000 of his capital and the remaining profit was shared in the ratio of the remaining parts of their capitals. If at the end of the year C received #1200 in all, find the total profit and the amounts which A and B respectively received.

2. A, B, and C shared a sum of #31,100.00. For every #32.00 that A gets, B gets 50kobo and for every #34.00 B gets. C gets #32.00. Find C's share.

Express(0,0425:2,5) as a fraction.

If possible i did like a detailed solution as i want to learn how to solve the above. Thanks once again for your time and God bless you as you help me.

Question 5 asks for two things. I'm talking about the second one about finding k, I've gotten a partial solution but it involves a lot of bashing.

I would love to see your approach to the second part of question 5 though

There is one more function that satisfies the equation

f(x) = 2 when x is a perfect square and ±2 when x is not a perfect square

My question 2 solution which you can find on the same page might have some serious gaps the more I look at it but I've found a somewhat more straightforward way to do it. I'll write it down later today.

There are other possibilities to consider for y - k. I only picked the one that works so the solution should be longer than this.

Damn that's a nice solution. I was overcomplicating the whole thing and missed that there was an easier way to factorize it
