leave the camry except you are interested in fuel economy with the 2.4L i4, the volvo S80 is a sweetheart in metallic form, parts are available though not as easy as the camry but if you treat it well, the Volvo will do you good

The BMW has a good driving dynamic, affordable parts but mechanic can be an issue.

The Audi A4 engine is extremely common, parts common to and very strong.

but overall I would pick the E46 over the A4, it is higher in reliability than the A4

Family man highlander

funky guy Venza would do.

remember to check the oil cooler in the 3.5L V6 for the highlander, if rubber let the replace to metal because of unforseen leakage.

Good day guys , I’ve had a 2003 Camry , car ran good since 2017 but of late the faults have started piling up , paint job, AC,suspension, injector and most started from a recent overheating breakdown .

Which car can I get that is as reliable but also suitable for family outing and work in the 2/2.5m range ?

Your recommendations are highly welcome

Not landed, should sail this week. Can't wait to test the driving dynamics. I've been reading a lot about it. Just found out there is something called gallery gasket which is scary. Hoping not to experience that though

Good day bosses in the house, please what's your opinion on 2006 Volvo xc90 awd having these in mind; reliability, ruggedity, fuel efficiency, availability of parts & auto technicians, any known problem associated with the ride or models in the series. Tnx in advance

Yeah, the galley gasket issue was on the early VQ37VHR engines.

The 06 Xc90 has various engine based trims, is it a 2.5turbo? Or a V8. You need to verify that it's actually a 2006 XC90, because the previous model year, 2005, physically looks essentially the same, but had a notoriously unreliable engine/transmission pairing, the T6. For 2006, the V8 replaced the T6 as the premium XC90 trim.

Reliability is on par with similar models, reliability is related to maintenance to some extent, both of which can be said to be average, for an 06 XC90. The earlier V8 engines had some balance shaft issues, but those were resolved subsequently. For more on those issues:

https://blog.fcpeuro.com/the-dark-side-of-volvos-excellent-v8

Ruggedness, the XC90 wasn't really designed as an off road vehicle, it's no Jeep Wrangler or Toyota 4runner. However the Haldex AWD system is relatively capable of taking you through most terrain you would encounter while driving in Nigeria. Just don't go climbing mountains, and you would be fine.

Fuel efficiency for the 06 is linked to the engine trim. The V8 is a 4.4l Yamaha designed workhorse putting out 311 bhp, and impressive torque for its category. The 2.5t engine can feel significantly underpowered, especially as the XC90 is a rather heavy vehicle. The V8 is not overly thirsty under normal driving applications. If you're one of those people that can't stand people passing you when you drive, or you're lead footed, well that would translate to your pocket in fuel costs. The 2.5t is a relative fuel sipper, but don't expect to win any races with it.

Parts and expertise are available for the XC90s. Volvos have witnessed a recent resurgence, however outside Lagos some parts (and expertise) may be tricky to locate, one may have to resort to buying in Lagos and shipping cross country. In Lagos however, there's a street in Ladipo, Daleko/Alhaji Amusa street, that's almost exclusively all things Volvo. You could find pretty much any part you'd ever need there. Labour, too.

The desired features are also linked to the trims. The V8 models tend to come with third row seating (only comfortable for kids), third row AC outlets, rear seat entertainment (dvd/headphone outlets), BLIS (blind spot monitors). Other available options for all trims are the pop up display unit, rear parking or proximity sensors, etc.

The summary is, for its price point, the 06 XC90 is a capable vehicle. Are there better alternatives? Certainly, but most of those have higher sticker prices. If the V8 scares you, up your budget a bit to include the 2007 XC90, with its all new 3.2l Inline 6 Cylinder engine which is a compromise between the 2.5t and the 4.4l V8.
In addition, your location may also influence the availability of parts and labour.

Your budget if you are looking at toyota again would buy same 03 to 06 camry because of our failing economy.

you can get Lexus ES300 to 330 with that budget, Lexus Rx300, very smooth honda products like accord and CRV.
