Rugaria:Don't make it a regional thing. Everything is not about region. Cements is being sold between 3800 - 4000 since the beginning of this year in Benin City. Civil society even organised a protest in this regards but they were locked up in the venue they were mobilizing themselves by security agencies. They were not allowed to come out to carry out their protest. |

The increase in prices of rods is even greater than cement in the south east. |

hisgrace090:Rod is imported, cement is made in Nigeria. Why should there be unnecessary increase in price of something that is locally made? |

Let me tell a story. Once I was visiting the South East for some work. It was in the month of February. Coke was #60, but on 14th February, coke was #70! Why? I asked the retailer, she said "Ah! Today na valentine!" Whether you agree or not, SE guys are their own enemies! Each time I travel there I buy fuel at a higher rate than elsewhere in Nigeria.... If you're stuck and an average easterner sees you.... he'll surely exploit you. Argue with your keypads! |

Sijo01: Kanoman82: wallay77: Crayfish09: sanpapi:See them: suffering and smiling generation.. Has it occurred to all of you that irrespective of the injustice in the system, you all will prefer to keep quiet, say nothing, do nothing and allow mediocrity to thrive? Prepared for servitude by your "Lord and serf" cultures, you seldom complain! But once an igbo man raises his voice to the injustices going on, the next thing we hear is "igbo complains too much", "it's not only you that's suffering" bla bla bla bla bla... You don't want to complain, I want to... So? Get off my igbo dikc, y'all! We suffer differently and I'm entitled to wail in my favorite igbotic way! Every anomaly that pervades this country as a result of misgovernance worsens when it gets to the east. Bad roads, no rail tracks, bad airports, bridges, power supply etc. So I choose to wail as I like.. You too should wail your wail! Allow me wail my wail!! It's the wailing season!!! I'm wailing mine... |

Elonmuskfan:It's time SE leaders and Businessmen call Ibeto to a roundtable meeting and ask him, Kedu Ife ji Nkita onwu?!?!... On a serious note, i know for a fact that one of the problems of Ibeto is encountering is power. He'll need a gas pipeline to power Nkalagu Cement or steady supply of coal. All these are very expensive without the help of FG, Regional Govt, IOC's, Big Banks, group of businessmen, etc. Meanwhile his competitions Dangote, Larfarge, BUA, etc have access to funding, Gas, FG support, etc. Apart from Abia and Imo (not sure they've started functioning), There's no gas pipiline in Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra. Enugu coal have not been mined for eons now. Kickstarting Onyeama mine for example will cost millions of dollars in equipments, personel, deflooding, etc. Rumour has it that Ibeto owes banks alot and is averse to partnerships (1 man business egbugo anyi) Summary, The odds stacked against Ibeto is huge |
| Re: Cement Price Soar In South East by maasoap(m): 11:18am On Apr 17, 2021 |
Rugaria:Well, it's not cheaper in other regions as well. |

| Re: Cement Price Soar In South East by Elonmuskfan: 11:22am On Apr 17, 2021 |
signz:He should learn to sponsor and fund a political party or candidate into power, if favor smiles on him the individual or party wins and reciprocates by providing him enabling environment to thrive. He should fund ohanaeze and influence its leadership because ohanaeze inner caucus can induce SE coalition governments to find a common ground in enabling businesses like Ibeto to thrive in SE. this is what Dangote does, he indulges into politics behind the scenes and funds candidates or parties that sign agreements with him, Dangote funds Arewa and their internal politics and from there influences arewa and northern politics economic decisions as well as those of FG. Ibeto should fund parties, individuals, ohanaeze an learn from other industrialists. That’s how you go close to corridor of power. If you don’t invest in politicians, they may not enable you or give you enabling environments or kickbacks or grant tax waivers. He should learn from Dangote and his mates. And if the candidate or party loses, business is about risks. No risk no gain. Don’t risk and remain stagnant, if not blown out of existence. |

BluDesk:Don't mind the fool! You beat a child and get surprised and angry when they cry out! Basically, the want us to STFU and absorb all the rubbish they throw at us to show we're 'good' Nigerians! There are quiet a number of things that are cheaper (and i'm not just refering to money) for northerners (esp' core north) than they are for Igbos in the south-east, yet we soldier on! |
| Re: Cement Price Soar In South East by signz: 11:31am On Apr 17, 2021 |
Elonmuskfan:Well to be fair to him, he supported and was one of the people that funded Umahi's 1st term election. The Ex Gov, Martin Elechi i heard frustrated Ibeto's Nigercem Take over. Now his man, Umahi is in power and still nothing is happening. E K GWURU There's more to trhe problem than meets the eye |

Elonmuskfan:In Nigeria?......Not practical! ![]() Fund a political party, and then when the candidate of the party has his arse rigged out by the ever efficient Arewa rigging machine (from INEC PVC collection, to actual voting, to the appeals process at supreme court.....they've got it all covered ).....then Ibeto will end up more broke than he was to begin with! Lets just face it....in Buharis' 'one Nigeria', the odds are stacked against Ibeto! ![]() |

| Re: Cement Price Soar In South East by Elonmuskfan: 11:46am On Apr 17, 2021 |
signz:There is more to the problem than meets the eye truly. But at least Umahi rewarded him by signing off Nigercem to him like they agreed. Umahi also did CONCRETE ROADS in all the entries and exit to Nkalagu, that can withstand trucks. So Umahi has really tried. Gas supply and electricity/power as well as CBN fund to the best of my knowledge, are beyond Umahi so he can do nothing about that. Well, if he keeps backing Umahi and his presidential bid, Ibeto won’t regret it. |

richfriendsng:Part of the problem is that, as a collective, we're too laid back and have a cavalier attitude towards addressing others machinations towards us on a national level! We don't know how to come together and protect our interests against those who wish to sideline us economically and politically! This is partly due to the sabo' selfish political elite amongst us, as well as what we went through in the late 60s and ealy 70s! |
