It scares foreign investors away as only few people will be willing to invest huge amounts of dollars in a country where the judiciary is forced to bend to the whims and caprices of the executive arm of government — a form of authoritarianism. Lack of foreign investment is bad for the economy, bad for foreign exchange and the labour market. In short, it increases the poverty level of the country. That's how a govt traffic body intercepted my car for no reason because I dropped off my client along the way. After much drama was taken to a mobile court, the persecutor couldn't present the case properly because they had no evidence, nor proper ground to present the case. From all what they could present they were at fault. The judge asked if I were guilty I said no, then I plead my case, after all the proof I presented to my defence, the foolish judge still charged me with 20k fine just because the govt needs revenue or rather he wants to please those tout. I was ashamed not just of the judge, but of the system. Judiciary in Nigeria is rubbish except you have bags of money to spend 9 Likes |

An independent judiciary can only be possible if their fundings are not connected to the government. And how can we do this without any correlation with the government to these funds? you will need a total overhaul of our political system and modifications on the constitution.
