I think and industrial zone is quite a good idea, but many companies are still skeptical about investment until ANOH becomes fully operational, but I think the govt should push strongly for the establishment and have a signed agreement that stipulation conditions, as this halted the growth of Industries in Aba.

I remember the hopes and excitement about geometric power plant and how excited moribund industries within Aba axis were, but all that hope got squashed as Emeka ofor failed to understand the economic impact Barth Nnaji had in place, he basically looked at it from a business point of view.

FYI: This constant complain about hotels, are there many hotel in Owerri than needed ? Yes, but remember this isn’t built by govt, do we now start telling people how to spend there hard earn money ?
they always complain but still go to the hotels to lodge go to owerri during Xmas or Easter period u won't see a hotel that still has a vacant room

For me, they should have an office in locations where their projects are located in Imo State. Something or someone must cause an area to develop. Every company must not have its base in a state capital.

The geometric issue is a very big loss to the whole States in the Southeast, all because of the greed of one man. I pity Nnaji though, and I pray he finds favour in the sight of the government in power so that things will turn around not just for him alone, but also in the light of power generation and distribution in the whole South East, starting with Abia and Imo state.

Are there more hotels in Owerri than needed? You said YES, I beg to politely disagree. Any current decline in patronage is due to the Covid19 and schools not being fully operational yet. Let higher institutions resume fully and things get back in place, you'll be surprised you'll visit some hotels and they'll tell you there's no room available.

This same low patronage is being witnessed by hotels around SCOAN, Ikotun due to the fact that the church has been closed down for a long time, as per Covid19... Let church activities resume and you'll be lucky to get accomodation around there.

Imo state wants to become the hub of entertainment West of River Niger+Benue and it's gradually getting there... All the lowclass hotels or those ones with poor services will definitely have to close down for others to survive. It'll soon be a case of serious competition which will lead to hotels rendering top notch services to keep customers
please geometric issue has been resolved since December last yr

Only Okorocha understood the importance of recreation parks and sightseeing to development of tourism in Imo State. All his successors are busy trying to prove that those things are not important to the extent of demolishing Freedom Falls and Akachi. Even Heroes Park would have been demolished if not Okorocha's hurried addition of Buhari statue at the end of his tenure. Even the Industrial Park he established as well as the Cargo Airport are laying fallow for sake of visionless successors.

Stupid politics in full display, good news is that hope has included the cargo airport in his agenda, secondly prison and police HQ will be relocated to the proposed structures, as government appointees inspected the facilities recently.

Rochas wasted IMO state money for nothing in the name of beautifying owerri the money he wasted erecting pillars on the streets of owerri should have been used to construct underground convert behind mbari kitchen from the first bridge to the second one then construct road on top of the covert the lands by the left and right will become useful and same thing should be done both sides of the river, roads should be constructed both sides of the river linking asumpta road. that place is an eyesore but okorocha leave those things and started roofing owerri with iron and built poor water fountain nearby warehouse roundabout instead of doing what I just said and construct modern water fountain inside the river like three places the water will be going up and landing inside the river that is what tourism is all about not constructing poor structures that can't last up to two years. if I have the opportunity to run IMO u will see what tourism is all about okorocha is an old cargo without brain

Hopefully they demolish that 'hero's park' as soon as possible. If Uzodinmma can do it, he'll have my faith for that alone, if not him I'm anticipating the next governor. If we are to have a hero's park, lets have a real hero's park, not a collection of money laundering allies for Rochas Okorocha. We are celebrating Jacob Zuma and Buhari with a statue next to Ojukwu, Azikiwe, and other titans of our history.

Destroying taxpayer's money is uncalled for, I understand Rochas' vision when he put up that project and many others like it. What I will like to see is for the government of the day to improve on it make that place world-class, and remove people like Buhari, Zuma, and anyone that is not an Igbo I want that place to be for Igbo Heros. Owerri as a city is taking shape as a tourist and entertainment city and as such needs a lot of attractions things to visit when in the city that was Rochas vision just that he makes a caricature of his visions by being a substandard governor. Another thing I will suggest for Uzodinma to do with a matter of urgency build a world-class recreational park with the empty land where the Akachi is situated Owerri need it with all the hotels and nowhere to visit will make the city boring.

Your love for a governor Rochas for opening most parts of Owerri....
Rochas never extended even one meter of urban expansion to other parts of Imo state in 8 years as governor of Imo state.

Your most primitive mindset would not allow you ask questions as to what can be done by our government to make entire Imo state have modern development institutions and amenities supplied by government; as you have them in Owerri - often in duplicate, and even in triples. You rather insult who asks questions.

IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT

INSPECTION OF THE NEW HEADQUATERS OF THE NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICES IN OWERRI

Prince Eze Ugochukwu, Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Public Enlightenment speaks with Daily Trust Newspapers on reasons for the inspection

Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu, said that the inspection was to give effect to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s resolve to relocate the NCoS from the chokehold of the city centre near Douglas House.
Ugochukwu said that the delegation took a comprehensive look at the facilities and what could be done to put it in shape.

He said: “After the joint inspection of the facilities, it was agreed that an appraisal team of a joint technical committee will be formed involving all the stakeholders to carry out a comprehensive evaluation and technical appraisal of what needs to be done to get the place ready for operation.”

According to him, the government’s delegation was led by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Lady Dr Love Ineh, and the Commissioner for Special Projects, Barrister Kingsley Ononuju, while the NCoS officials were led by a Controller of NCoS Mr Kingsley Njoku.
He added that the team will present a comprehensive report to the governor for his immediate action.

Those are institutions . What I want Uzodinma to do that I believe will boost tourism is to build a very beautiful African themed garden park at the Akachi tower and also repair it for visitors to climb and enjoy city view like they used to in the past. That Freedom waterfalls at Warehouse should be completely replaced with a recreational center comprising swimming pool and local Igbo huts. Those 2 alone will attract a lot of people to Owerri especially foreigners who will appreciate a modern display of our traditional architecture. It will compliment the siting of Mbari restaurant in same vicinity.

Many people are misguided about development and economy. To such illiterates building of factories is the only industry they know whereas tourism is a bigger deal and yet leaves your environment free from industrial pollution.

My home LGA, Orlu, is not a village as you would want it to be, but the second largest urban center in Imo state after Owerri. If good roads and other urban infrastructures are provided in Orlu by IMSG, Orlu shall be a larger metropolitan city than Owerri.

It’s not senators and reps from Owerri that build the infrastructures in Owerri.

It is very important for them to have their corporate office in Owerri. That's how it is done everywhere! Check most big manufacturing companies in Nigeria and you will see they have a corporate office either in Lagos or Abuja.

They should be building one at Wetheral or better still somewhere around New Owerri.

It is always easier to demolish than to build and that is why these shortsighted guys we have always look for what to destroy and people like you will be encouraging them to do so because you think it's not your money.

Rochas Okorocha defrauded us by building very substandard projects but we must look for a way to renovate or rebuild them because he used our collective money to do them and not his personal money. When you demolish them, it is you and me as Imo people that loose!

When I look at the very solid and massive infrastructure Kano and Kaduna governors are building and compare them with the very basic and mediocre ones these fraudsters build for us here, I just feel like crying.

when you say everywhere I am sure you mean nigeria especially from the egs you gave because in most Western countries we like to emulate of even China it isn't the same ..nigeria is dysfunctional...why is rivers state saying that oil companies headquarters should come back to ph like it used to be in 70s ? Please the headquarters or corporate offices of those companies springing up in ohaji and oguta should be situated in that axis and not come to owerri to compound the congestion..if we are reasoning the spending ability of the guys working there to spend in owerri then a well dualized road from wherever the corporate office is going to be located there to join owerri ph expressway should suffice
