I like this super league idea but i still love the Champions League. I wish those club can play both but it's almost impossible.

It's all about money

Football has always been about money. UEFA and the likes have been eating alone for decades in a system that benefits them more.

Take a man's source of money away, and you'll see as he'll explode. That's what happening to the big Football governing bodies now.

That seems reasonable, but I feel like it's bull.

That's if UEFA bans them, which I don't think they will.

No one wants to watch a UCL with small teams. They will have to compromise with the breakaway group.

Yes, but I'm not sure the Super League can hold if they still have to participate in the UCL.

They need their strength to compete for top level matches.

It will be dire to watch if there is match congestion and their performance will drop in those matches.

Will be a terrible sight without tenacity.

Football doesn't end on the big teams,it's the intrigue of smaller teams beating the big clubs
If you guys destroy this gladiator of our time, prosperity will not forget you

Maybe, but things evolve. And they're looking at the taste of general, global audiences who want to see the best compete.

I feel like this will actually improve the quality of game because what you'll end up with is feeder teams and leagues, and the absolute top guys, instead of a bunch of overpaid underwhelming athletes who stop trying after a while. When someone can go from a regular salary to freakish money, and they have a real shelf life, they're playing a very different game. It's part of why I enjoy small league games far more than any of the Euro matches I've watched. And we'll get the same level of game in the ESL that we basically get from FIFA, especially since so much more will rest on fewer teams, and players will get away with less. Should be interesting. grin

Even if UEFA does not ban them, the ESL is to be played midweek which is almost the same time Champions League matches are played. So it's almost impossible for these big teams to play their domestic leagues during weekends, play ESL in midweek and also play UCL midweek, so in other words, there won't be UCL for them again. They actually planned this to rival UCL.

Many people don't understand what these big clubs are going through. Their business has been affected by Covid, players refused pay cut, no fans on stadium plus UEFA greediness.

UEFA and clubs involved should sit on round table.
They are making tons of cash through TV rights. Fans don't come to the stadium but they watch at home.. They make money, they just want to make even more

Hmm..

Big teams ain’t the only ones making football interesting..

No be these modest teams super players dey take shine pass?

Any form of division might kill football. They should speak with uefa to adjust their money regulations..

But one thing I think again is, 90% of small and modest teams will also join oo.. Cuz I’m sure every god damn club is into money issues right now!

Simple as that...
Fans can NEVER boycott seeing these big fixtures
Plus the club owners need to make their money after all UEFA and FIFA are both corrupt

The pandemic will be over and stadiums will be filled again
Club owners can request for pay cut from players
There should be a compromise between these guys , though Perez is one greedy capitalist who only cares about what my money brings to the game of football and not football itself .

It’s all about money to these scavengers. Total disregard for the fans and clubs traditions. Most fans are not interested in a closed competition of 12 megalomaniac clubs.

UEFA and FIFA must hit these bastards hard.

UEFA and FIFA have sold football to gambling companies to make so much profit while the investors are losing enough is enough.
The fun in football is no more because of fraudulent UEFA and FIFA.

Change is inevitable.

Empty stadiums etc have forced these clubs into a lot of debts.
Don't forget they have players they pay large sum of money, if there are no fans to generate money from, where will they get funds to pay the players from? Owners personal money?

They complained that UEFA is paying them little amount compared to what they generate from the competition.

Reason it this way.

A club signs a big name player with many fans, the player follows the club to play in a competition which his fans will probably watch because their fave is playing in the competition.
UEFA generate money through views, TV rights etc, while the club don't because the stadium is empty, the club will be the one to pay the player, foot the transportation, lodging and other bills, pay the domestic staffs, etc

At the end UEFA pays they little amount that can't even pay off the players 1 month or 2 months salary.

UEFA is catching out where they didn't work.

UEFA should either share do one of these...
1. After removing 10 to 20 percent of the total money generated from the competition and also removing the prized money for each stage.
They should share the remaining money among all the participating clubs to help them fight their growing expenses.

2. Allow them have their own way(ESL).

You can't be catching out at the expense of these clubs and their stadiums are empty, thereby making it difficult for them to run the clubs.

It's cashing out not catching out

Follow the money! It is all about the money! Yes they hanged it on survival, but these are big super clubs. If it is about survival, what then will be the fate of smaller clubs?

The smaller teams don't have the kind of financial obligations of those super teams, one player's wage from R Madrid, Barca or Man City could pay ten players from those modest teams.
