Modern christianity depends on feelings, personal experience and personal revelations rather than God's word.

They use feelings or experiences to interprete the scriptures rather than subjecting experiences to the word of God.

This is the reason why the gospel has being watered down, false teachers have over flood the churches.

The fear of paul for the church

2 Corinthians 11:3
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Has the church forgotten that there is an enemy lurking around looking for a way to pervert the gospel?
The church should be defending the faith that was passed down from the apostles .

Jude 1:3
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Eve fell because she did not rely on God's word

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The woman saw that the tree was good for food (desire to satisfy the stomach)

She saw that it was pleasant to the eye ( lust of the eyes), she esteem experience above God's word.
Many seek experiences, outside God's word. For them the word of God can never satisfy them.

Desire to be wise (pursuit of sensual wisdom), she sought to be wiser than the word of God. It is not uncommon to see churches bible schools and seminary trying to interpret the bible to fit in modern stands, to them the bible in its raw form is archaic, but must be fine tuned and probably updated so that it can accommodate modern ideologies.

James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

When the chrch do not rely on God's word as supreme in judging all things then she like eve she will fall.

Jesus rely on the scriptures, "It is written" he never sought to be wiser than God's word
Jesus esteem his father's word more than food
Jesus never judged by eye sight but judged righteously.
Jesus never sought to glorify himself but the father.

If there is going to be rivival the church it start with going back to the scripture standard and teachings alone.

They can't water down the Gospel - the truth is that they don't have the Gospel and are unknown to Christ. There is only one Gospel and it is clearly stated in 1Corinthians 15:1 - 4
Anyone preaching any other purported Gospel is anathema!

A watered down gospel is another gospel.
