Regardless his success had nothing on X.
The only thing they had in common of was the scruffy voice and were both natives of NY

The connection ppl had with X's song were real. They could relate to his stories, his struggles and his desire to become a better person despite his flaws.
Ppl could identify with him. Same cant be said about ja rule who always portrayed a playboy personae.
