It's very easy bro but only if u answer yes to the following questions..
. Have u spoken in public b4?
. Do u have some level of confidence?
. R u funny to an extent?
. Have u handled a Mike b4?
If yes is ur answers to all den u r almost dere...
Just follow d follow rules:
1. Understand who ur audience are n what is most likely to appeal to dem
2. Always wear a smile
3. Use your audience to crack jokes n don't forget to use ursef to do d same
4. Be mobile on stage i.e move ard alot creatively
5. Avoid being too formal with your language i.e learn to mix English wit pigin to yoruba to hausa to igbo n any other
5. Don't get discouraged if the audience are not giving u the desired expression.
6. Let ur fashion make a statement for u.. lobatan

One of the funny moments in my life

It is easy op,just grab the mic like your life depends on it and say "Hello ah,hello uh,testing testing 123,hello tueh,tueh" drop the mic and run down the stage to drink your favourite or slawormir brand.Return to stage and do the closing prayer.The applause you will get will be so deafening.



On a serious note people had done justice to your fear but in case you need other option you can take mine.

Confidence. Be bold. Put things down. Ask about the caliber of people that are invited, so you'll know how to relate/what to talk about. Rehearse. Learn jokes to put in once in a while. Learn to wear a smile.

As a pastor, I have done many MC jobs, and I still do them once in a while.

An MC is not a comedian. It doesn't mean you shouldn't bring humor to the table, but don't overdo it.

As an MC, it is not your primary job to make people laugh, especially in a birthday party. Your job is to ensure that the events run smoothly.

You will work with a program booklet, and ensure that time allotted to each item of event is followed. You will announce events and speakers (if there are any). You will announce games (if there are any), special dances. And if there is a comedian or musician, you will announce them.

Think of Ebuka anchoring BBN, and a comedian anchoring a comedy show. It is not a must for Ebuka to crack jokes to engage his audience. But the comedian or MC anchoring the comedy show is expected to crack jokes.

If there are enough interesting programs lined up, you may not even need to do more than introduce these programs and sit each one out.

That is why the best advice is to go with the flow. If the guests are engaged enough already, then flow with it, and don't crack jokes if you are not a comedian. But for the sake of the Nigerian people many of whom cannot tell a comedian from an MC, you can just get some jokes and practise them, and then find somewhere between events to crack them.

My advice is that you familiarize yourself with the event booklet. Know the order of programs.

What I usually do is get this booklet before the D-Day and practise in front of a mirror. On the D-Day before the event, I try my voice out on the microphones.

So great tips:

1. Go with the flow. If your audience are already enjoying the programs, then there is probably no need to crack unnecessary jokes.

And if your audience look like they want to be out of there, it is your job to keep them in. You can bring a joke to the table. What I usually do is twerk the program book by introducing an interactive game. I always speak with the celebrant first, though. I tell him or her that I can twerk their program book if need be.

1. Watch Youtube video of other MCs in similar events

2. If it's a formal or semi-formal event, Google "how to emcee events" and select two quality content to read

3. List a couple of things you need to say and think through them - look at some of the peculiarities of the event

4. Speak with the host and ask for as much information as possible in advance - the setting, the audience, etc

5. Do dry run (face your bed or your sitting room, use biro as mic and rehearse) - do this on the eve of the actual event

6. Get to the event as early as possible so you are familiar with the setting before you are called up

It's simple. Am sure you have attended a birthday party B4, exactly what the MC did there is what u are expected to do which is to coordinate the event.


Have a list of the activities for the party written down. These include, introducing yourself as the MC of the day. Start by telling them that "it's your first time doing MC" it's gonna be like a joke but all along, if u commit some blunders, then u have already told them it's your first time.
Also, if u are not very fluent in English, use pidgin or u can even use ur dialect.

Also on your list will be introduction of guests, calling to high table some persons ( if arranged in that direction), cutting of cake, the toast, celebrant dance, refreshment, bote of thanks by celeb, music, music, music......

Let's try to break it down to the basics.
All the very best.

[b]First of all : Prepare the opening of the event. Introduce yourself and welcome the audience to the event. 


Stay simple, natural and fluid.
Stick with the program and try not overthink on the first try.
Manage your segment transitions.
Be prepared when and what to say.
If you're not funny or witty, don't try to be.
Just be yourself and bank on your strengths.
Open strong and end with a bang.
Don't forget to introduce yourself and always be mindful of what you say.

Know your event. 
Knowing your event is important for all types of ceremonies

Know your responsibilities.
The MC is responsible for creating and sustaining the intended atmosphere throughout the event.

Know your role expectations.
Being an MC means that you have a great sense of humor (in most cases, not all).

Do your research.
Contact your key speakers to find out some background information on them, and use that information to prepare your introductions for the speakers.

Stay organized.
Create or review a given agenda for the event, and plan out, minute by minute, the event schedule.

During The Event

Remain calm.
Being an MC is a lot of pressure.
The event’s success is largely contributed to how well the MC keeps things on track.
While the event’s proceedings can get hectic, it is important to remain calm and focus on maintaining your MC persona.
Nothing shows you’re more nervous as an MC, than talking too quickly.

Be prepared for anything.
As we mentioned earlier, a great MC must always be on their toes.

Close the event.
Your closing of the event should be as exciting and sincere as your opening.
Normally to close the event, the MC thanks all of the attendants, speakers, and performers.
