have you seen how P2P devalues your funds when you want to sell off fast?

My friend, what are you actually saying? Nothing like that exit since I've been using P2P. You solely choose who to transact with by yourself depending on the value you like. I hate people misinformation the public out of sheer ignorance.

Regarding domiciliary account, GTbank na useless Bank. I opened a Dom account sometime ago with $100. I later withdrew $50 after event overtook the need for Dom account. Bit by bit, GTB removed the remaining $50.

Please, my fellow bloggers and digital marketers, I have a serious question to ask because I am very angry right now.

One of my partners sent a little dollar to my account through wire transfer on the 23rd of this month, on getting to my account I saw that $25 dollar was deducted from the money.

I contacted the sender and he told me that they send the exact amount which they also sent me the receipt, now I had to contact my bank (GTB) and they said that it's offshore charges and that it's a new law from CBN.

Please I am still confused right now, why will CBN issue such a law?

Please share your experience if you have ever experienced something like that before because it also means that Google Adsense payment might be deducted too
had same issue last year, confronted the customer service officer and was told the $25 is debited directly from the sender abroad before sending the remaining to Nigeria wch they'll still debit 0.5% here

There is always offshore charge for wire transfers.

Usually, the sender bears the charge. I'm guessing this particular sender opted that the "beneficiary bears offshore charge", thus you were charged.

It has always been 25usd.
Next time, ask questions or you use Western Union to receive your money
you're correct

Dear OP, the sender is trying to be funny. I have had similar experiences with my foreign clients. I insisted on seeing the Telex and the telex showed that they did not bear the offshore charge.

Always insist that the sender to bear all charges.

For this transaction, request for the telex copy from the sender and give your bank, they would show you were the sender asked for you to bear the offshore charge. It's a normal trick people play.

I often wire money to myself from US bank to my GTB dom account. They always remove something from the total transfer. I took it up with them and they couldn't give me a good explanation. I later found out that Access bank doesn't remove any charges, I have been using Access since then for my wire transfers since then. I don't think it's any CBN rule. At first they blamed my bank in the US, I called my bank and I was told that's not true. They then tried to blame it on the intermediary bank. I just stopped using my GTB dom account.
Still love GTB but no more wire transfer to my dom account.
Either you are not saying the truth or you have not taken note. Even banks in US charge offshore charge and they do ask who will bore it (whether sender or beneficiary). Please don't mislead people

But me i will never forget my experience with UBA last month. I did a transfer to a University in Romania for my school application fee which is 100 Euro from my Euro account i have with the bank which i even buy Euro at black rate to pay in the account for the transaction. But to my greatest surprise the bank charge me 73.50 Euro for the transaction.
That was pure wickedness

Obviously you don't understand what we are talking Bout here.
Let me give you an example

You want to wire 5000 USD to your Nigerian dom account. Chase bank for example will charge you 40 dollars if you do it online by yourself. They will charge you 50 dollars if you walk into a branch to have it done.
So your total is now $5040 or $5050 depending on your choice.
Once it is done, 5000 USD is expected to be deposited into your GTB dom account. Unfortunately, GTB has been removing 20 to 25 dollars from this total.
It has happened to me at least 3 to 4 times. And they don't have a good reason for why. You will just get a round around without proper reason.
The worst part is the money removed is not even stated as a charge anywhere in your account statement, no where does it say it's for this or that charge. It just disappeared.

Those are the facts.

It is ok if the bank wants to charge for any service. But you have to state it in the transaction.
I'm sending money from my US account to my GTB dom account, I have paid all fees requested by my US bank yet GTB still removed 20 to 25 dollars. No reason given and it does not reflect on the transaction what the amount was removed for.
To make matters worse, when I send it to another bank in Nigeria, I get all my money.
So explain that.
GTB is still.my bank but they are messing up on this issue.

You are not being charged just for your transaction alerts...they also charge you for other messages you ddnt ask for, like birthday, new information from the bank, NDDC message, Covid 19 message.......

Go and deactivate text message and chose email alerts...
u will still get all the messages u ddnt ask for and u won’t be charged for them...

What has this got to do with the topic at hand. Just wow
GlobalWay:
Another senseless Igbo-concocted thread trying so frantically hard to bring down the Greatest Bank in Nigeria. Hate perpetually eats their useless Souls up for knowing that Yorubas always easily achieve all they have spent their Generations and years on Earth trying to achieve. Yesterday's International Announcement of Olugbenga's Flutawave as the best in Africa also gave them sleepless night seizures on the Thread. Igbos are worse than Snakes!

I've seen Yoruba Christians severally reached out to Igbos on Nairaland for Unity of South, but Igbos always reject like Azikwe their Yoruba-envy-eaten father betrayed his agreement with the great Christian Awolowo and went behind by night to unite with Islamic North Balewa, deceitful betrayal that put Southern Nigeria in monumental Problem till today! Satanic Greedy Sad Soul Azikwe was too envious of Awolowo's far Superior Intelligence even after Awolowo vowedly submitted to him to work as his Deputy to make Nigeria the Greatest Country in the World!

Just when I started loving some Igbos for being genuine Christians that truly(maybe pretendingly) love Yoruba Christians as bothers beyond tribalism, the Satanic Igbo Sad Souls like you have made it would impossible for the Southern Christians to Unitedly defend and Prevent Islamic enslavement of the South. You and your likes shall soon all most painfully and bitterly die hurrubly out of Envy of Yorubas. It took so long before we understood why Igbos for long so frantically spread derogatory false slandering things about Yorubas. Now we know it's because every Greatness that Igbos have ever dreamt and still dreaming of achieving, Yorubas have Achieved very them over and over and over again.

Your eternally Sad Souls are being violently ripped apart and eaten up as you see Yorubas on those Great Thrones your generations have always die for but can't have. Just agree that Yorubas are forever above igbos Spiritually, Academically, Socially, Intelligently and in all other Ramifications of Life, then your peace of mind would be eternal. Yorubas are Special Souls among Humanity, Scientifically confirmed that Adam and Eve were Yorubas.. Terrible painful Death to all Igbos!!! When next you see a Yoruba, Duff your hat and Bow!

Well said, I remember between 2012 to 2016 that I use to make transfer same applies, but I bare the burden of the offshore, which is faster. you can use form A in ecobank for transfer through your naira account which is cheaper but note it takes longer time for you to receive value.
