Is there any charges for operating Domiciliary Account?

100 dollars for account opening
Two reference from other current account holders
It’s best you don’t collect ATM, unless u do online buying a lot and u want to circumvent the monthly dollar limit on naira cards...you’ll be charged 20$ atm maintenance fee.. and if you want to withdraw you’ll be charged for counter Cheque or cheque book..

U will also pay to transfer..

Please, my fellow bloggers and digital marketers, I have a serious question to ask because I am very angry right now.

One of my partners sent a little dollar to my account through wire transfer on the 23rd of this month, on getting to my account I saw that $25 dollar was deducted from the money.

I contacted the sender and he told me that they send the exact amount which they also sent me the receipt, now I had to contact my bank (GTB) and they said that it's offshore charges and that it's a new law from CBN.

Please I am still confused right now, why will CBN issue such a law?

Please share your experience if you have ever experienced something like that before because it also means that Google Adsense payment might be deducted too
Pls how much was sent before I can talk. Cos I received from adsense and didn't notice.

No! If you open same in the bank you already has an account.
No! If want to open an account in another bank, you will be required to present some documentary evidence of yourself.
In or Not, card annual maintenance fee applies.

There is always offshore charge for wire transfers.

Usually, the sender bears the charge. I'm guessing this particular sender opted that the "beneficiary bears offshore charge", thus you were charged.

It has always been 25usd.
Next time, ask questions or you use Western Union to receive your money
$25 is much

Thank you my brother. I'm surprised to read some of the comments here. GTB is one bank I know would never charge any fee that is not standard practice in the Nigeria banking industry. Only Acess, UBA and the defunct Diamond Bank are known for that.

I use union Bank and i don't get debited like this for charges. Even though AdSense payment comes in it regularly.

All banks debit offshore charge. Even if you transfer from a Nigerian Bank to BOA, Wellsfargo or any other US bank, you get charged 15-25 dollars as offshore charges. It is not peculiar to Nigerian banks.

Remember you transactions are routed through correspondence banks.

Crazy lie from The Gtb staff that told you it started last month because my company has accounts with gtb and and that $25 charge is fixed even if it is from our own coy account to our Gtb they will deduct $25 before it gets to our Gtb acct and I have been noticing it for years now. sad

It is ok if the bank wants to charge for any service. But you have to state it in the transaction.
I'm sending money from my US account to my GTB dom account, I have paid all fees requested by my US bank yet GTB still removed 20 to 25 dollars. No reason given and it does not reflect on the transaction what the amount was removed for.
To make matters worse, when I send it to another bank in Nigeria, I get all my money.
So explain that.
GTB is still.my bank but they are messing up on this issue.
This is not correct

Obviously you don't understand what we are talking Bout here.
Let me give you an example

You want to wire 5000 USD to your Nigerian dom account. Chase bank for example will charge you 40 dollars if you do it online by yourself. They will charge you 50 dollars if you walk into a branch to have it done.
So your total is now $5040 or $5050 depending on your choice.
Once it is done, 5000 USD is expected to be deposited into your GTB dom account. Unfortunately, GTB has been removing 20 to 25 dollars from this total.
It has happened to me at least 3 to 4 times. And they don't have a good reason for why. You will just get a round around without proper reason.
The worst part is the money removed is not even stated as a charge anywhere in your account statement, no where does it say it's for this or that charge. It just disappeared.

Those are the facts.
The $40 or $50 is the normal bank charge. You didn't factor the offshore charge and it is not the receiving bank taking it. It is the correspondent bank that takes the offshore charge

You see, you are just angry for nothing. That partner of yours did not pay for offshore charge and that charge was removed by the beneficiary's bank. It was the instruction given by the partner. If he/she wanted the full funds to get to you, then he/she would have paid the offshore charge. And mind you, offshore charge is different from the commission, vat and telex charges (as I can see other people talking about they paying for other charges).
