I had to open a new account because of the shame.

I am a self sponsored student, 2019 graduate who should have served two years ago but because of financial limitations, I kept postponing service in the hopes that I would have saved enough to afford buying the necessary items needed for service but as the first born, I kept using the money to sort family bills.
During the pandemic last year, I was out of a job till February,this year.
I finally decided to register for NYSC last month because time is not on my side anymore.
When I got a new job,all I could manage to save after settling bills at home was 5,000 each month.
On April 30, last week Friday, my boss told us to stop working, that there weren't any sales, till now I'm still waiting for last month's salary.

The reason for this long message is that the stipulated date for NYSC camp is May 18th and all I have is 10,000 in my bank account which I'll likely give my mother soon to help her pay my brother's school fees.

Please Nairalanders, I don't want money because a lot of people will doubt my authenticity. I want the necessary items needed for camp.

. It's this exaggerations that annoys me. U sponsored urself to school, but this little list made u postpone service for 2years. For real? Cos u dont av money to buy those stuffs on ur list made u postpone service for 2years? Uhmmmmm I guess u paid 1k for school fees. Buy d only d necessary things : white top and shorts etc after being paid,then buy other needed things. Stop baiting people to send u money cos u know that with insecurity in town, no one will plan to meet u bringing unnecessary loads.

Sorry, wont give my money to someone for tissue, hypo, pegs etc. There are many people really suffering, jokers should stop blocking ways for them.

I had second doubts about posting for help here but another voice told me to try.

I did try but as expected my situation isn't dire enough to warrant getting assistance plus the guy who commented previously had played the role of instigating and planting seed of doubts.

I'm the kind of person that easily give up on things, it's a wonder that I managed to finish school when the going got tough.
I would have continued my count down and begging, but deep down we all know nobody is coming to my aid, this is not a life and death situation.

As Nigerians , we don't value honesty, I could easily had lied that I'm ill and get y'alls money through emotional manipulation but it's not worth it and in the long run, even God will punish me.

It is well, staying another year without service isn't going to kill me.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that someone would postpone their service year because of those things you listed up there. Just my opinion.

By the way, the list felt somewhat like luxury (though it's necessarily not) compared to what I took to orientation camp several years ago. My supplies weren't the best, but hey I survived, thanks to God.

If you're reading this, how about you borrow some money to be covered with your first allowance that would be paid at the camp?
