Take for example, there is a shitty subject they teach students in secondary school called Animal Husbandry.

The subject is so lame and useless. You can't convince me that the subject is useful. Why not replace that with introduction to programming for example. Who would make that change? The teachers! These same teachers would never accept such drastic change of course, because frankly speaking, they are comfortable with what they already know, hence, the seminar!

Should we all learn Tech?

Of course, we can't all learn Tech to professional level. Infact, not everyone is interested in tech which is very very normal. But we all need to learn the basics of technology.

Reason is, it's what we interact with everyday.

It's like learning how to change a car battery, how to change a bulb, how to knot a tie, how to tie Gele, how to use cutlery and many of those activities we do on a daily basis.

Isn't that what true education should be?

If you wanna learn python for Web development say Django or Flask, sorry for you cos these are dying technologies (I was a professional Flask developer before I moved on).

I hope they taught them algorithms and how to solve problems in programming too. You don't just learn the syntax of a programming language and start disturbing others that you are now a programmer.

The training was a one - day stuff. It was rubbish to say the least. Imagine trying 2000 ppl in a theater on programming. Small projector was deployed. Many have to sit on the floor, etc.
A friend that attended told me. Some attended without having PC. .No hands on for such ppl.
We are not ready yet.

Basics of technology for a teacher at most are Microsoft office and data entry into database.

For a teacher to teach introduction to programming, she would need to go back to school to learn computer science, physics etc.

Who is going to pay for the years of training?
Did the government tell you that they want to introduce programming?
Did the government tell you they can't find capable people to take a programming subject?


An animal husbandry teacher can teach other subjects not programming please. What else, a maths teacher can also teach English?

If they were taught python in one day, it is a waste of resources. Excel would have been more beneficial or a computer appreciation class.

For example, Netflix relies heavily on python.
It used way beyond web development.
It's so fast to build APIs with it and make microservices.

The most sought after programing language since 8 years now. Who told you that 100,000 people are bidding. Do you think wordpress jobs are all drag and drop. How many people can build custom WordPress themes(headless and monolithic and wordpress plugins) do you know how many big tech companies use this CMS. Checkout wordpress VIP it's even used at Microsoft. Tesla uses Drupal check their site. The White House government website is done with wordpress. Wordpress alone powers 40 percent of the web. PHP powers 83 percent of the internet. Learn the deep parts of wordpress and I can assure you you will never struggle to find work.

what do you actually want to do... If it is for web development I will beseech you to go learn JavaScript and its framework... If you want to tap into our newly discovered oil field(data science) python is your thing learn it and learn it well including its own framework such as Django or flask... At least 7 months of extensive learning of python is okay then you move into into its libraries such as panda, numpy, seaborn and matplotlib
