Exchange does not any way determine standard of living that is the mistake many Nigerians are making.

Let's say 1 dollar to a naira is 500 naira.

You can't buy a meal in U.S. with 1 dollar but you can afford two meal in a day with 500 naira in Nigeria

Thank you. You are healing many Nigerians of Ignorance.

Well, it's like 1 cedis = 65 naira. But don't forget that the 1 cedis is 10,000 cedis in reality. The Ghanaians only redenominated their currency in 2007 by removing 4 zeros.

Why the ignorance? Ghana has always been a more expensive country when compared to Nigeria, no b today. Prices of common things you buy in Nigeria are almost tripper the price in Ghana.
Are you saying that out experience or are you just saying that because of the rubbish you read in newspapers...? undecided

But they are not having boko haram and herdsmen issue.

Still fair better

Every West African country has herdsmen issues because the drying Sahara desert is driving them southwards for grazing land.

Just yesterday in Ghana thee was a tragic incident involving Fulani herdsmen.

Abegii not like the case of Nigeria.. Even their epileptic electricity situation still fair better than Nigeria's own.. If they take light in Nigeria , one can't really say when they would bring it back , the areas affected in Ghana are on rotation... They have hope when it would be back

Once had same experience in Ghana, Dumso or so

Every honest Nigerian who has visited Ghana says things are very expensive there.

Ghana people are the masters of shuffering and shmiling (apologies Fela Kuti).

I think they place more importance on 'peace' and appearing ''calm'' and ''stable'' to the outside world, than on actually fighting for better conditions in the country.

Nigeria has 210 million people compared to Ghana's 30 million, so as both are developing nations, whatever problems you see in Ghana will be multiplied 7 times in Nigeria, by sheer virtue of population.

On the flip side, Nigeria has 7 times more avenues to enjoy your life than Ghana.

Open tiktok or YouTube it's one mumu Nigerian(90% always girls) telling us how Ghana is paradise,I skip those type of videos
Re: Life In Ghana Compare To Nigeria by Rossinkup: 8:11pm On May 05, 2021
Ghana is what Nigeria would have looked like if she had 30 million people.

There is no fundamental difference between those two countries.

They share the same problems of glaring inequality in wealth distribution.

Bridging that gap between the haves and the have-nots is the fundamental issue facing most African nations.

We do that by going mega in manufacturing and intra-African trade.

Fuckeduppedness. You Nigerians are funny sha. I know both countries very well. I have lived in both countries for long spells. I currently live in Ghana, a proud Ghanaian.

Ghana has never claimed to be an El dorado and will never do so, because Ghanaians are not loud-mouthed, like Nigerians.

One thing I can tell you, having lived here for the last 11 years, is that Ghana is a country going somewhere. Progress has been a bit slow but until covid struck, every Ghanaian felt the country was making big progress, with the economy growing persistently at 6 percent per annum or above in the past 10 or so years.

Currently, the authorities are working to upgrade the electricity supply system and they hav3 warned Ghanaians to expect intermittent power outages till July when the works will be finished.

Ghana is peaceful and stable. But Ghanaians are not happy with recent tax increases announced by the government. Some groups are planning to state protest marches this weekend over the taxes imposed by the government. Now, most Ghanaians tend to tolerate their government because they know they can punish them at the polls.

That is the beauty of the Ghanaian system. Ghanaians will not hesitate to kick you out if you fail to perform. I do think the current government can win the next elections in 2023.

Generally, Compared with Nigeria, Ghana is doing far far better. Ghanaians children enjoy free education to university level. The government is investing more money in education. Check out the education budgets for Ghana and Nigeria.

Ghana is doing better than Nigeria in many areas- from life expectancy to school enrollment, access to water, electricity, FDI inflows, inflation, employment figures, corruption index etc

Ghana shouldn't just be ''doing better than Nigeria'' (marginally) in these areas.

Ghana should be the Saudi Arabia of Africa. Like them, you have a small population of 30 million, vast oil and gas reserves, you're the world's largest exporter of cocoa, and the largest producer and exporter of gold in Africa.

I hear you've even got diamonds.

I mean, what the hell does your govt do with all this money?

Why should things be expensive in Ghana?

Every Ghanaian should be living like a sheikh.

Truth is, man for man, Ghana is more resource rich than Nigeria, if you calculate it by total resource value per person.

Leave Nigeria. There is no developing nation of Nigeria's population range that hasn't got widespread challenges - Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Ethiopia. Even Brazil and Mexico have major problems.

It is smaller nations with huge resources like Ghana that should really be highly prosperous.

Definitely out of experience. However these prices are more of Accra price. Other areas outside Accra are cheaper, but still expensive compared to Nigeria. Ghana that you buy pure water for an equivalent of 30 naira grin

Their purchasing power is even poorer than Nigeria. Minimum wage in Ghana is 24000 naira equivalent. Just like Naija the minimum wage is not effective across the board in every region. So just imagine that.
What works for Ghana is that they have basic amenities like stable electricity and relative peace, which Nigeria lacks. Plus their schools don't go on strike like Naija grin
