Don't mind the fools. Why wouldn't the cost of living in Ghana be higher than Nigeria when the Cedi has more value than the Naira.

Education is indeed valuable. You need proper education, because if you were educated enough you won't post this ignorant comment.

So cost of living in Japan is higher than USA because US dollar is higher than Japanes yen? grin

For your notice Japanes yen is lower than the US dollar on value yet Japan is a more expensive country than USA.

YOU need a higher IQ before education can ever add value to your useless life, because like a typical illiterate you don't understand basic economics.

I repeat you lack proper economic education.

Let me clear more of your ignorance. The Bahraini Dinnar is more valuable than the dollar, yet cost of living in Bahrain is cheaper than the USA.

And your pitiful pebble sized brain didn't tell you that it is normal for a small country like Bahrain which has a huge trading balance against the United States, to have a stronger currency than the US? Did this fool even go to school? You're probably one of those idiots who voted the dullard into office.

Still running around spreading ignorance. I've given 2 examples according to the mumu you displayed yet you no wan learn.

Let me give you a little education. Here are the main factors that influence cost of living in an area/country in no particular order;

1. Housing. High prices for housing automatically increase cost of living. Note that buying a house is more expensive in Ghana than Nigeria.
2. Low unemployment rate. The lower the unemployment rate the higher the cost of living because most people can afford it and many earn pretty well.
3. Taxes. The higher the taxes, the higher the cost of goods & services. Example here is Norway.
4. Government policies. Eg high import duties, high cost of setting up/registering a business etc.
5. Cost of transportation and utility
6. Natural factors.
7. Inflation. When too much money chase too few goods. A country that depends so much on imported items will likely have a higher cost of living.

This anology is wacko..
In nigeria, minimum wage is 30k per month, 41.7naira per hour. And its for only fortunate and advantaged federal and some states workers.
In US biden just increase minimum wage per hour to either 18dollars.. This isnt for only those working for federal or states but the entire country so far u r employed.
Can u compare 18dollars per hour to 41.7naira per hour?
Before u make 500naira in nigeria which is equivalent to a dollar, u need to work for more than 10hours...
But in US 1hour u have made money to pay ur bills, buy food etc.
Anytime u wan compare the dollar economy with naira economy remove ur APC cap.

Working for 10 hours to make 500 in Nigeria is far from truth.

Please stay in school so you don't end up like your idol in Aso Rock who can't understand the basic principles of economics. EVERYTHING you typed there is pure HOGWASH and rubbish.

The original post was comparing the cost of living in Ghana with the cost of living in Nigeria. And I was explaining that the higher cost of living in Ghana is because Ghana's economy is stronger than Nigeria's. The simple clue which anyone with half a brain would have picked up on, but which you failed to see is that when a country has a strong currency, it is usually as a result of having a healthy trade balance, which means that the country exports more than it imports and the manufacturing capacity of its industrial sector is at least above 70%.

The Ghanaian Cedi has been stronger than the Naira for several decades. Someone who earns a salary of 10,000 Cedis in Ghana enjoys a higher standard of life that someone who earns 100,000 naira in Nigeria because the exchange rate of the Naira to the Cedi is 66 Naira for One Cedi.

So that is the most basic and the most important factor for measurement of a country's economic indices. All the other factors you mentioned are dependent on the nation having a robust grounding in the fundamentals of market economics.

Like I said, there's hope for you if you don't drop out and if you manage to grow a few more brain cells.

This your display of ignorance is epic. So Angolan Kwanza that's lower than both the Naira and Cedi equates to cost of living being higher in both Nigeria and Ghana than Angola grin
Your ignorance is irredeemable.

Lord have mercy, this goat is even more stupid than I first suspected! Is this fool trying to say that the cost of living in Angola is higher than in Nigeria and Ghana? Cost of living in a city is computed by using the relative strength or weakness (as the case may be) of a nation's currency against the dollar. Therefore if a country has a week currency, then an expatriate in that country would be at an advantage because he won't need to have a lot of dollars on him to live comfortably.

It's like how Nigerians who get online jobs are able to live comfortably on income of $50 dollars a day because the low exchange rate of the naira (nearly 500 naira to 1 dollar) means that $50 dollars a day equals to 20,000 naira a day or N 600,000 a month. By Nigerian standards that is a fairly comfortable standard of living.

But if the naira was strong currency and the exchange rate was something like Six Naira to a Dollar, most expatriates would find the cost of living in Nigeria difficult.

In fact, to show how clueless and lost you are, Luanda, the Capital of Angola is not even amongst the top 27 cities with the highest cost of living in Africa, whereas both Lagos and Accra comfortably made the list.
Go and bury your head in shame and stop embarassing your family name like this.

You are still displaying crass ignorance

As at 2007 when Ghana cedi was redenominated it was 1 dollar to 1 Ghana cedi. As at then it was 1 dollar to about 110 naira. Today its 1 dollar to approx 6 Ghana cedi and 1 dollar to approx 400 naira.
If you understand maths you'll know which currency has depreciated most.

Your mumu don do grin

Luanda is 94.4% more expensive than Accra.
