None.
It was done to limit the casualties on Troops.
It would have been successful if we had a proper air surveillance to monitor movements of these AOGs.

Now it has given the AOGs freedom to move around major roads in Borno state. Infact there are some roads these AOGs put up their checkpoints with plastic seats.

Thanks to everyone who's replied. I'll reply comprehensively tomorrow. I'll just leave these questions, which elucidate why I thought SCS was wrong:

1) if the distance between Super Camps is, say 200km and there's no FOB in-between, won't the bad guys fill that vacuum?

2) patrols between these Super Camps now take longer and involve more troops; ergo more predictable and enticing targets for the bad guys?

3) civilians in the dead space are now at the mercy of bad guys, and have no choice but be taxed and cooperate, no?

4) the enemy is free to build up his strength?

5) the military has no civilian collaborators to feed it intelligence?

Just a few reasons why reinforced garrisons have never worked throughout history. As I said, I'd like to hear from the people who thought, and still think SCS is a good idea.

This is how the "bases" being overrun looks like.
What defensive advantage does it provide? And when troops withdraw from these locations we call them cowards.

The gains of 2014\15 offensive and that of 2018 were all lost immediately the offensives stopped. During the offensives, the terrorists either move across the border to neighboring countries or temporarily return to civilian life only to organize themselves back once the offensive has lost its momentum. At some point in time. Gudzamala LGA was recaptured by the terrorists in 2018. Baga was also captured around that period. Unless the army can continue to be on offensive for years(the 7 division lacks the resources for this) or they are able and willing to man every cities, towns and villages, the terrorists will continue doing this.
Supercamp was designed to cut prevent the terrorists from having access to towns and cities for supplies and they've been largely successful and the terrorists haven't been able to expand since then, in fact, NA supercamps 15 and 18 are directly adjacent to their capital and they've never been able to overrun them. The only problem is that the army decided to switch to a full defensive mode. There should be constant aggressive patrols by highly mobile and protected unit from the supercamps to constantly harass the terrorists and keep degrading their capabilities. I have always advocated for the establishment of a mobile strike force to complement the Supercamp strategy. The 72 MSF should have expanded beyond what it was in 2014/15.
If at all they won't re-employ Barlow, they should at least make use of what they learnt from him while he was here.

Majority of the supercamps are also sited in South and Central Borno and Yobe states. There are only 6 in the northern parts of the state leaving many settlements open to attacks.

The recent increase in the frequency of attacks has been attributed to the NAF suspending air interdictions in favor of CAS which has given the terrorists enough space, time and resources to plan, launch and coordinate attacks.

The military command knows what to do, they just don't care about the lives of the troops deployed. And the troops have also taking the cue and are no longer interested in fighting.

Good morning . i agree with you 100%. the military need to do some thing. after the south african mensenerie was operation was stop the men of the 72msf/ sf was sent back to their battalion based on the command of CDS and CAS 2016-2020. which gave the terrorist more hand in attacking local area and some environment from intel i have with me the CDS have order the movement of solider to some area. he said that the FOB should be brought back. the headquarter of gudzamla which is gudumabli have being occupy by men of the nigeria sf and some 72msf/sf team deployed of recent, before the deployment of the 72msf/sf they were involved in the shooting in battalion in borno trying to sent signal to their commander over some bad equipment. the headquarter of gudzmala have being occupied since two week ago . and FOB have being created in that area. but in as much the solider are fighting the military should strike back , the operation of doing offensives 1 mouth and returning to defensive mode should stop. i like what you said the military men are not coward see a base . no defense perimeter , no organised defense position see an open field and you expect the military men not to run, even the world best military will run at full speed , you take solider to ans open field and you call that a base and you expect the military to defensed the town and the base with guntruck and some equipemt when the enemies is coming in large number and sophistical equipment the military need to do something before this solider lost total interest in the war. the cds and cas have been a battlefield commander for long the should do something the moral of the solider is down.

What sophisticated weapons? Y'all should stop this. It's getting embarrassing.
ISWAP has zero sophisticated capabilities.
All their gun trucks are almost falling apart.

The issue here is psychology, improper planning and lack of will to fight due to poor well-being and welfare for the troops.

Hell I will not shoot even one round if you station me in a death trap like the one below.

If that wasn't enough, ISWAP in Nigeria even collects and distributes Zakat, with photos aiming to show them as a group fully able to govern. Like I said earlier, ISWAP wants to fill the security vacuum in the areas with no government control and Zakat is a primary example of it.

There must be offensive in war, so if the military is not going on offensive, they should expect brutal offensive from there enemy. Is that not the normal thing even someone who is not a soldier will know?

The problem is the military is waiting for attack so they can repel, that's not a good approach. The best form of defense remains attack. When your enemy have peace, they will have the moral to come at you. This defensive mode will always give them a bloody nose, it has never work against stubborn enemy like terrorist.

There is nothing unbelievable about this it's just standard insurgent warfare. Same thing in Sinai, southern Somalia, Pakistan, Sudan, Afganistan, and the middle east despite intervention from the worlds most powerful militaries for the past 3 dacades. Stop being a drama queen nothing special is going on here.

pls zip it, how does it make commonsense that an army that claimed to be poorly equipped gave up this Cache of arms to the enemy?
The last time I saw it was Afghanistan & Iraq.

Its so shameful that any military equipment you google, there is a page for non state actors claiming to have taken it from the Nigerian Army.
Buhari didn't ask for foreign taskforce for arms recovery which is exactly what is prolonging the war, he didn't ask for PMCs to recover looted arms, he didn't ask for intelligence support to track arms but he went to ask for relocation of Africom HQ, forgetting the size of their assets, jokers we are!!

Tah! The field officers must be wankers to choose such a "target" for a base. I doubt the rednecks drew up a map and pointed bang at some pixels on it and said "Major, be here"

P.S I'm not absolving anyone but forward camps take ingenuity too and this picture just shows they (field officers) lack it

Leave the generals a bit. Forward operations take ingenuity from the officers on ground. If this is the best they could come up with, I am very ashamed of them.

Are you trying to reply me or you just want to be a dumb f**k on a Sunday morning.

Where did I mention the bolded?

My point was that the young man is a police officer.
With the current killings of police officers going on in the east it is no surprise why he stole the firearm for obvious self defense reasons.

He got the cap to blend in, no doubt. We have all seen occasions where the so called police men usually take off their uniforms and find the nearest exit in the face of danger. So what are you talking about?

If the young officer was found with a live and unlicensed firearm.

What are his colleagues supposed to do. Arrest and investigate the case, not brutalize him.

You can see how they are already slapping the hell out of him. That is torture and it is illegal.

So yes, you have somehow lost the ability to think like human.
