Why wait for month end when you can earn daily and be paid weekly from a side hustle?

Affiliate Marketing is a plugin that guarantees this.

It's not a get rich quick scheme but a business that is guaranteed to earn you 300k-400k.

You will have to wait till month end to be paid?

Op, trying to make sense, but with so many inconsistiences.
First of all, and only i will comment about, retirement age is 60, not 50.
Judges and professors even have longer ones like 70 or so.
This op must be a staff of one of those pension PFAs painting a rosy picture here. Retire and go to their office and u will see hell.

Retirement age is from 50. I opted for an early retirement at 42 after working for 15 years

How can one be a liability on one's children! Anyone who sees his mother or father,or both, as a burden is ungrateful. It's a big mistake with terrible consequences to neglect your parents for whatever reason - how can you regard your mum as a witch because someone labelled her as such. The irony of it is that those crooks only label poor women.

real facts n raw undiluted truths about life..
baba olu bin work for NPA headquarter in marina for so many years. he was d head of driver n was loved by many because he was so generous and jokes alot when he is around....
he was ever willing to help financially even if it means taking a loan for u as long as he likes u n he was tagged "better man" by almost everyone for streets...
he retired last 3yrs n was heavily compensated n now living in pension bt he keeps saying the biggest mistake he made was to please others n displease himself bcoz he do feel abandoned by the many friends he taught he had, not knowing they all came around simply because all was fine..

It is good to be selfish at times.

It isn't easy....

I am a public servant and I can tell you that the structure doesn't give anyone a chance to operate outside their office that easily....

If you open a business that you are not there to monitor, you'll lose it to the people you entrust your business to...

No excuses, but as a civil servant, doing another job will literally drain you more and you could stand a chance of having serious ailments before your retirement....

REALITIES OF RETIREMENT

1) You are no longer popular in your office.
2) Avoid going to your former office without invitation. Where it's absolutely necessary inform an officer of your visit so that you can be received.
3) Know that not everyone liked you while at work & now have an opportunity to snob you.
4) Keep in touch with your coursemates as you grow in retirement because some Pharaohs in Egypt may not know your Joseph.
5) Attend celebration of coursemates. Its always a reunion with lots of fun.
6) Only a few of the people you assisted (including family members) will come around to see you often. To others you have nothing to offer.
7)Plan your days & follow your plan. Sometimes when you look at your uniform with all the medals, you have a feeling of emptiness. Get yourself occupied.
cool Traveling is great, visit places of interest and enjoy your travels.
9) Eat right, enjoy your meals but down excessive sugar, salt, fats and oils.
10) Do your medical check-up even when you feel healthy.
Enjoy your retirement.

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

Build your own house where you will live in your old age.
Build businesses that will feed you in your old age.

Create conveniences that will engage you in your old age.

Build friendship and goodwill that will serve you in your old age.

Right now, start to be relevant in your mosque or Church and community so you could be reckoned with in your old age.

* Old age could be very lonely and agonising for men who did not plan for it.
* May you not become a liability on your children in your old age.
* May your children not wish you an early death when they can't manage you again in your old age.

An old age without penny in your pocket is a slow, agonising death sentence!

Be warned now...!
There are three categories of people you cannot do without as we are growing older, your family, people in your place of worship and childhood friends, who include your Old School mates.

Friends, take it or live it, at 60 and above, loneliness kills because the children you are working hard for now will go their way to raise their own immediate families and pursue their own destinies, just as we did now. At that time it's these people in these 3- categories that take away loneliness and keep your company.

At 50 years and above, you have 10 to 15 years of active working life.

Respect friendship and value relationship.

Nice advice. May God give us wisdom to plan accordingly and be successful.

Lol.... It's been 10years now, I am still planning on what business I should do...

My boss have a rice farm, he pumps real money into it and his brother is overseeing it for him....

After harvesting it and selling it...He buys a brand new car from it...Boss changes car every year... Got my first car from him at a very low price ..

But spends millions from planting to weeding to fertilizer and harvesting. .

Anyway, one of the reasons I choke up on threads that suggest ideas on business, I read till the end to pick ideas from people and nothing is coming forth yet...

You can only adhere to this if you receive your pension immediately after retirement and not many years after....

You plan to do all these before retirement. Perhaps around 40 years to 50 years. The retirement benefits would only compliment and solidify the structure you have put in place. Do this before retirement, you would be happy. I know people who are paid millions later and clearly confused on how to spend it. Why? No structure or plan on ground. And so they spend it without accountability.

If you are a public/civil servant, you will understand that the FG/SG put the structure in such a way that you can never be that free to operate outside your office, except you are working under a ministry or agency that isn't that active...Like National population commission...Those people don't even go to work.... As a commissioner in that commission, you live like a church rat except you involve yourself into other fruitful activities....

in civil service in nigeria, retirement age is 60 or 35 years of service. That's when u can have access to your Retirement Savings Account.
U resigned, not that u opted for early retirment

Oga don't be sentimental. It's possible for a parent to be a liability to their kids and vice versa. We should all plan our life well and live well so that we don't end up being a great burden to our children later in life.

Your parents did not see you as a burden when they were bringing you up. Your mum carried you inside her body for solid nine months in pain upon pain yet she didn't regard you as a burden. Now that your parents aren't as strong as they used to be, you consider them a burden. God Himself will handle you wella.

According to PENCOM ie Pension Commission retirement age is from age. You can start getting your pension from age 50.

Those who opted for early retirement, can only have assess to 25% of the fund in their Retirement Savings Account, they can only draw down the balance through either annuity or programmed withdrawal when they are 50.

You can opt for early retirement after 15 years.

The retirement age of 60 years or 35 years in Civil Service is the compulsory retirement age. Nobody will stop you from retiring when you are 50 years if you have made enough plans and Investments while working

I pray we won't be a liability to our children, I pray we will be so blessed that we can easily give our children N5 million and above to start a business after graduating from the University instead of look for jobs.

It also starts by thinking it is possible and planning towards it

You don't have to do business, think Investments.

Real estate, stockmarket, bonds, Treasury Bills, money market fund.

We have threads on Nairaland where these are discussed.

A guy on the Treasury Bill thread who is a Civil Servant, makes residual income that is more than his salary.

He started investing while in the University, after working for 20 years his passive income is more than his active income

I understand you. I've worked ten years in a financial institution and find it difficult having time for myself. By structures, I understand the salary may not be huge, but plan things like building etc within that time frame 40 to 50 or earlier if possible so that any benefits can be used to do other things like business etc and not be paid retirement benefits to start building etc.

Retirement is one area we don't talk more of in this part of the world because people see it like sickness or death sentence. if you are in government service or private sector or business owner we will all retire one day when we grow weak.

There should be a section on nairaland, just as we have one on stock, health, celebrity politic etc that deal with it. the up and coming youth and those still in service, should be learning from the retired person on the forum first hand.
