Good evening all..

I'm new here.
Need the experience of my elders.

I'm based in UK, I want to apply for a B2 visa.

How easy would it be from London here?

It's regular US visa process. You aren't specific though so difficult to offer guidance not that you really need one though

Greetings great people!

Please I have a concern and need clarification.
Is it possible for someone to get an expedited interview appointment with a US B1B2 visa application?

I humbly ask this because I have an appointment date for March, 2022 but it's a but far and I only hope I can get a closer date this year.
Many thanks once again.

Hello house,

I'm a fresher on this platform, thanks for your very insightful posts on visa processing.

Last month I applied for a US B1 B2 visa, after completion of my DS 160 form, I got a date for March, 2022 but I used my phone and didn't get the printable interview verification page printed out, I only sent the confirmation page to my email. I humbly ask to know if that can serve when I get to the embassy for the interview, if not, is there something else I can do please.

Many thanks once again

If you got a date, then login to the portal you got the date and view it.

Hello, Please how can one get the earliest date for B1/B2 visa appointment?
The available dates are January 2023 for Lagos and June 2022 for Abuja.

How possible is it to get a date in 2021?
Also, can one reschedule the appointment if peradventure one decides to go for another available date if it is B1/B2 visa?

Thank you.

People keep checking at odd hours

The reason there are few dates for 2021 for nonIV is that they have a backlog of almost half a million immigrant visas that require interview dates. Immigrant visas are being given priority now.
Backlog is due to corona and the bans from Trump's administration

Please what is the possibility to travel to another African country and get appointment date early, say an ECOWAS country that wouldn’t warrant me having a visa or a country like Cameroon or Kenya or even Ghana

Is that number specific to Nigeria and Where did you get it from?

You not a resident of that country, quit cutting corners and stop being overly Nigerian

Simply get a new passport , use a rubber band and bind both passports together.

Hi Fam,
A friend of mine recently got the B1/B2 visa but her international passport expires by January 2022, what happens if she gets a new passport but having her visa in the old passport ? How can she rectify that so it doesn’t become an issue.

Yes you can but I think there is a limit of how many times you can reschedule.

If the trip is not urgent, just keep checking till a date closer to your preferred date coms up

Its been a while since I posted here, not much has changed Lol...anyway I thought I should drop this here.

Your US Visa would have been valid for 10 years - Multiple entry, if the Nigerian government gave US Citizens, 10 years - multiple entry visas...the principle of reciprocity.

It won't be in the national nterest of the United States to issue Nigerians 10yrs.
You think naija politicians won't have raised that? I bet it was flatly rejected. Most Nigerians are abusers.
I won't be surprised if Ghana doesn't join SA in the 10yr visa club.

"The Principle of Reciprocity"

- Ghanaians are issued 10 years multiple entry visas because Ghana issues the same to US Citizens.

- You say National Interest? you are talking about the largest black population of the world with human and national resources, guy even the Chinese and Russians are here! and where they are, it is in the interest of the US to be there.

- The responsibility is that of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but as with all things Nigeria, sadly, they are dead to their duties - see the issue of the high visa fees for US Citizens, it made no sense, the US didn't increase theirs but the Nigerian government increased theirs (mad o for a nation seeking F.D.I's), the only reason the Nigerian govt acted was because the elites complained.

- Realistically, its only when the elites complain, that Nigeria's foreign policy changes e.g. Dangote - most of our elites are dual-citizens that:

1. Don't use Nigerian passports when applying for visas or travelling.

2. Have substantial investments that allow them to circumvent the rules.

- It really has nothing to do with abusers, if the 10 year visa was being given, then I can say with certainty that the visa process might be harder than now. But with Buhari's economy, it will not be feasible to give Nigerians that 10 year visa, even if US Citizens were being given the same prior to his administration.

Help me understand how MOFA is "dead" to their duties? How would their dishing of 10 or 20years visa to American citizens prompt the US DOS to reciprocate same by default?

The principle for the most part only works in reference to fees and some visa categories. I don't believe naija will trigger any major changes from the US by bumping up the visa validity.

It doesn't work like that. You cannot compare apples and oranges. Naija and Ghana no be the same with reference to relationship to the USA and how citizens behave, economy and security. There is a whole lot of stuff involved.

Even if there was a 10 year visa category for Nigerians they would probably issue it in rare instances.
Nigeria is a high-risk immigration country with a worrisome security risk profile. And the volume of economic trade between US and Nigeria is negligible (not among Top 30 countries).

These are the things that inform such decisions.

There can’t be any issue! If the consular officer had a problem with the passport, visa wouldn’t have been issued on it, yunno... I have used this times before n currently using renewed passport with a valid visa. Your friend is good to go. She can bind together in a leather jacket or something.

My wife and I landed at JFK on 23rd May, 2021

Me: Hi, how’ are you doing?
CBP: I’m doing good, where are you coming from?
Me: Lagos Nigeria
CBP: purpose of visit
Me: Vacation
CBP: How long are you staying for?
Me: 4 weeks and few days and I also explained why I have decided to stay for more than 4 weeks. I stated that it was my first time in the US though, I have been to most of European countries- UK inclusive and South Africa on personal and official reasons. I told the POE officer that I really want to enjoy it this first time. We both laughed.

CBP: Where will you be staying?
Me: Hotel, I mentioned the hotel's name in Manhattan and handed over the booking slip to him. He didn't actually check anything.

He asked me to remove my face mask and captured me. Then my wife's biometrics was just captured, no further questions were asked.
