Bro, not to inflame tempers but hope you see my point about the quality of training given to these officers.

Is the NDA just for show or is the SSC course just for gra gra?

What type of training do we give our soldiers? Is it yo plant head alone or just go through unnecessary hardship while ignoring battle tactics.

I have always said it and I will continue to say this; TRADOC of NA is at the root of our Army's problems and if that organization can be revamped, then we may yet see better fighting men
Planting head alone is all you think they do?

I don’t think that picture is recent.

During 2018 the military started using excavators to dig bigger trench. And most of the base has two outer dug trenches by the excavators.

Tho we are not using Hescos or fencing in most of the bases till date. It’s funny the military are using soldiers zinc houses as barricades.

Tho that picture might be an outpost “Tango” In some locations with big barracks in the community. We have different outposts in some parts of the community entrance.

One police personnel was wounded in the leg on Sunday when unknown gunmen attacked Mike Okiro police station near Ubani Ibeku Main Market Umuahia.

The invasion of the police station resulted in panic in the capital city when the news filtered in as some churches ended their service abruptly to enable their members go home.

Residents most of whom were already out of their homes hurriedly scampered for their homes to avoid being caught in the crossfire as tension mounted.

The initial report had it that Ubani market was set ablaze by unknown assailants, thus throwing residents of the capital city into panic.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Geoffrey Ogbonna said the incident occurred around 9:45am.

He said the hoodlums came in two Sienna busses, one Hilux van, and three motorcycles but were engaged in a gun duel by policemen on duty.

According to him the invaders however managed to gain entry into the premises where they entered the offices and collected some documents and office equipment which they set on fire.

He said the heat of the fire affected the ceiling of the building and some furniture.

The PPRO said that the building was still intact and not burnt down contrary to reports, explaining that the police personnel on duty were able to repel the attackers.

Ogbonna said that the attackers later burnt two vehicles and two motorcycles parked in the premises.

He, also said that one police personnel was wounded in the leg by bullet during the exchange of fire with the invaders, but added that the injured cop is receiving treatment at the hospital.

The PPRO further said that the incident occurred few hours after a gang of five robbers was intercepted by the police in Aba.

He said that the robbers were operating in a jeep when they were intercepted by the police and opened fire on them.

He said three of the robbers were arrested and their Jeep recovered while two of them escaped.

TROOPS MAKE GAINS IN THE NORTH WEST, DECIMATED BANDITS' LEADERS AND DISMANTLED SEVERAL CAMPS

Troops of 8 Division, Nigerian Army operating in Zamfara and adjoining States made tremendous progress in the ongoing fight against banditry and other violent crimes in the North West. The Division had earlier launched Operation Tsare Mutane following the directives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru for the Division to stabilise the area in order to facilitate the return of socio-economic activities.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Division, Maj Gen Usman Yusuf launched the first phase of Operation Tsare Mutane which lasted from 23 March to 2 April 2021 in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State. The troops successfully cleared many bandits' camps in Jaya, Kadaya and Bayan Ruwa amongst several others. The troops successfully neutralised 48 bandits while the bandits leader in the area Jummo sustained gunshot wound to his leg. The troops rescued 18 kidnap victims from the bandits' enclave. Moreover, eight AK-47 rifles and one G3 rifle, as well as one PKT and a Machine Gun were recovered from the Bandits.

Meanwhile, in continuation with the second phase of Operation Tsare Mutane, troops sacked several other bandits' camps around Gabiya, Bozaya and Mereri and the adjoining forests in Maru LGA of Zamfara State from 19 April to 3 May 2021. The areas which were heavily infested by bandits were successfully cleared by the highly spirited troops. Key bandits' leaders including Yellow Mai-Bille, Sani Meli, Dan-Katsina and Sama'ila Bakajin Bari were neutralised in the process while the main leader Nasanda narrowly escaped with fatal injuries. Equally neutralised in the operation was one Isan Heshi who is a close ally of a notorious bandit called Nagala. Isan Heshi was the second in command to Heshi before he joined Nagala following Heshi's death in an earlier operation.

Items recovered in the second phase of Operation Tsare Mutane include 4,600 rounds of ammunition, two AK-103 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, 1,628 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, fifty four rounds of PKM as well as one motorcycle and five Techno mobile phones.

The COAS has congratulated the GOC and troops of 8 Division for the gains made so far and urged them to sustain their offensive operations until Zamfara and neighbouring States are stabilised. He further assured the GOC of his continuous support in achieving the overall objective of keeping the North West and the entire country free of terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes.

About 40 Muslim worshippers were abducted in the early hours of Monday by armed bandits while observing Tahajjud prayers at a mosque in Jibiya town of Katsina State.

The Tahajjud is a special Islamic prayer observed during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Residents of Jibiya town told our correspondent that dozens of men armed with sophisticated weapons struck at the mosque around 2am and took away the worshippers without any resistance.

It was gathered that the kidnappers initially picked 47 congregants, including women and children, but seven later returned.

“So far we established 40 people missing after the attack,” said a resident who spoke in Hausa under the condition of anonymity.

Another resident who volunteered statement, Lawal Jibiya, said neighboring villagers alerted them about the impending attack, after sighting the movements of the bandits heading towards the town.

He said hundreds of youth and local vigilante group in the town were on alert and ready to confront the bandits, but the assailants changed their route and entered the town from the western entry point.

“We were expecting them from the eastern entry point through Daddara, Kukar Babangida or Magama but this time they proceeded beyond the town and camped at Jibawa.

“From Jibawa they then went round to the western entry point near Yunusa Dantauri Hospital and attacked a mosque on the outskirt of the town,” the witness said.

According to him, the bandits did not fire a single shot to attract the security until they finished the operation.
Jibiya, a Nigeria-Niger border town, is one of the major targets of kidnapping and banditry activities.

Folks, I think that the attacks being carried out by UGM in Akwa Ibom are probably not by IPOB or IPOB affiliated groups. They clearly do not have the reach in those locations. Those attacks might be carried out by local groups imitating what is happening in the SE.
I also think that Kanu is not in control of these UGM stuff. He is inciting and taking credit but those guys on the ground are running their own show. The different groups in different states are most likely not even connected.

They are mostly uncoordinated and bereft of basic tactics. Planting of head should have been outdated and banned but trust them to stick with mediocrity.

Are we saying there are no brilliant officers? NO. But they are few and far between and in fact those rare breed of officers rely on their ingenuity and not the nonsense taught at Depot and NDA
