Look at the lackadaisical attitude of a supposed citadel of higher learning. Eventually, the poles will be replaced but not until someone has been killed by it.

You know the worst thing? Students of this polytechnic would be angry with the OP that he's exposing the rot in their school. If they have enough students online, they would infiltrate this thread to defend the school.

This is the problem with everything in Nigeria. You see an interlocking-tiled road with 2 or 3 tiles displaced, but no one will attend to it until it becomes a crater. Then they will come up with their speeches and budget large sums for reconstruction.

Normally we are supposed to have both surveillance and maintenance teams. The surveillance team is to take report and detect defects, but sadly it’s not available currently.
What we have now is the maintenance team only, and what they do is corrective maintenance. meaning, most times they will only notice these issues when there’s a fault/breakdown.

The work of surveillance is currently being shared between the people and the maintenance team, as the only time the maintenance team will have the chance to do the work of surveillance is when going to repair a fault, of which they might not be poised at that moment. Meaning it’s now the job of the people to report such defects.
