Were you able to fix it or you get the error codes from the scan? Had similar issue, though my fix cost much more than the suggested repair xD.

Weirdly enough, mine was actually the MAF. Started the car with and without the MAF and the error seems to occur with the MAF connected. Disconnected the MAF for few days, increased fuel consumption was noticed, but after replacement, that was it for the ESP issue. Even the throttle actuator when shot, gives similar ESP issue, gas pedal input not recognised by the car is the sign. GL!

I have a mercedez Benz c230 Kompressor (2004 model) with 271 i4 engine.
Car doesn’t start, sound like no compression when u crank the car . I got it scanned the are the codes I got : p0365- camshaft position "B" circuit bank 1
2:p0128: coolant thermostat ( coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature ) .
Note: these two codes are the current codes when the car was scanned. I list the pending codes below:
1: the two current codes showed up on the pending codes follow by these other codes; p0335- crankshaft position circuit "a”
P0336- crankshaft position circuit “A” Range/performance
Please how do I go with the repair
Very cheap problem...go and buy a crank position sensor of 5k and put in your car ...

I don't know why you said I am wrong without pointing it out . What is wrong with you guys

Mobile Xhp is a thicker oil, designed for older engine ..this is a car that is 15years old with tears and wears....and you don't use light oil for this type of engines. Light oil are designed for engines that are less than 4 years old and also temperate regions

Yet you still didn't point out my erroneous message

Oga that car is an old engine over 16yrs ....did you consider depreciation and wears of the Engine

. At the last oil change I changed it to 10W-40 although the manual calls for 5W-30; this seems to have helped the oil pressure. Is it OK to continue with 10W-40 oil? The van has 145,000 miles on it.

A: Yes. This is a practical method to improve oil pressure in an older, high-mileage engine. The slightly thicker oil film from the heavier base weight oil — 10W — can help protect worn engine bearings as well. As long as you're not hearing knocking or serious mechanical noises from the engine, the heavier oil should buy you many more miles of service from your vehicle.

Over the decades of buying and driving older, high-mileage vehicles, I've even used 15W-40 and 20W-50 oils in high-mileage engines to improve oil pressure and extend their service life.

I always tell people to follow owners manual at all times .. That been said , Pennzoil is very good Mobil 1 is Very good.. Even Pennzoil has a formula for European cars ........

And more than likely the car has high miles . Anything over 75k miles is considered high miles.. So look for good quality high mileage oil .. The high mileage oil has additives that protects older engine ...

I don't think Pennzoil European formal has high mileage oil ... So go for Pennzoil high mileage if u can find 1 ........

Either way my brother follow owners manual and use High mileage engine oil ..... Auto parts and engine are costly now ..

So think am well o .. You don't want to be coming on nairaland after wrong oil damage ur asking for help to repair the car ... Coz Mechanic go use ur car learn work grin and last last the car will be worse than before it was given to mechanic to fix ......

Am saying from experience .. I brought in a 2005 c230 few years .. Benz mechanic use my car learn work o. Last last I had to sell the car for peanuts.. A word is enough for the wise

If the engine is old and has covered above 75k mileage, I'll rather advise you go for a high mileage oil.

Check out for :

Valvoline All Climate 10W40
Valvoline Maxlife 10W40.

Both are formulated specially for high mileage car.

Sincerely, all these oil quoted here are great except for Mobil xhp which I am not sure of and I don’t think it’s possible for mechanic to recommend or use Mobil xhp to service your Benz. I am sure 2006 ml500 parts are expensive. My advice don’t fry your engine follow what is recommended. Benz mechanic wey sabi work is rare. Again use recommended oil - synthetic only

For Christ sake these online mechanics would recommend the same oil for a brand new car for a high millages car that is upto 15yrs ..I don't know what is wrong with them!

Thank you for pointing yhis out for them...they don't know that there is high milage oil ....with thicker film

That is exactly what I told them...anything fro 10W ...is high milage oil....

You can't use Mobil 1 for a 16yr old car, that is stupidity and waste of money....Mobil 1 has low viscosity and it's designed for brand new engines and engines less than 5yrs with low milage....it has thin film ....

These guys don't get it..thank you for lecturing them

Everyone shouting Mobil 1 up and down without factoring engine age, wears and tees , depreciation and climate

Thanks for lecturing them .....

You are not fit to advise ...trust me...

How can you advise 5W for an engine that is 16yrs with probable over 100kilometers on it...

Do you know that the viscosity of 5W is designed for new cars

Oga go tell him the truth and it's from 10w...i drive that SUV

A 16 yrs old engine with high performance, and you recommended Mobil 1 or 5W....dude go back and review your post

You are giving him the wrong advice...thank lord that most people have corrected you and told you that there is high milage oil

You can't use 5W for a 6 yr old engine not to talk of 16yr old V6 ,he needs a high milage oil ...even 10W is not even appropriate unless he would be servicing every 3 months .... depending on the usage

I had to research to see if the high mileage oil was a gimmick or not . And it was not a gimmick it does work depending on the condition of the engine ........ And you also use it on non high mileage . it gives it extra protection .. My initial thinking was that it was a marketing ploy ......

Now if you really want to get the best protection for your engine.. A better protection than high mileage oil . Advance oil for 20k miles will do the job .....

Look at the chat below between high mileage oil and advance 20k miles oil change..... So for better protection on engine especially older engine Advance oil for 20k miles is the best way to go . according to the explanation below

Bros please keep this advice to yourself.I have a 20 year old car with over 240,000km and still run 5w40 full synthetic on it.Infact i know of a 25 year old car with 300,000km still on 5w30 full synthetic. Both engines are still pristine.

There's more to an oil's composition than the weight.
In any case, even if weight was the only important thing, the "5W" or "10W" doesn't even refer to weight. grin
