Please help me with answer to this question o

Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?

Me: I was denied the first time.
Reason: I can't even explain because the VO didn't give me time to even say love-vendor. Sincerely, I was shocked as the interview didn't last 30 secs. However, what I discovered on my F-1 letter then was that the guy I paid to assist me with admission back then went ahead to process an Associate degree from a college I didn't send him to. He literally messed me up. So I felt that might be the reason.

So How do I explain this on the new DS-160 form now?

PS: This time I applied by myself for the MSc.

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

In terms of accreditation, out of the 4 schools I got admitted into the university of idaho has the highest accreditation a business school should have, which is the AACSB accreditation, its the association of advance collegiate school of business, this accreditation ensures that business school graduate learns from the best and are ready to perform at any time.

Having spoken to each representative of all university I got admitted into, professor Michael dorathey of the university of Idaho was the one the convinced me more on what I stand to get as an international student(nods head), like training opportunity, research opportunity, and some personal programs like critical thinking, that will help me to be a better person (cuts me off)

Hello people, could you guys help with looking at this mock interview questions & answers and evaluate by constructive criticism etc.. Here it goes ;

Why are you going to the US?
A: I’m going to the US for my masters in Statistics ( Biostatistics concentration) in the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgia State University in Downtown Atlanta Georgia - USA.

Q: How Many Schools did you apply to?
A: 13 schools in the USA, 2 in Canada and 1 in Singapore

Q: How many of them offered you admission?
A: 6 of them offered me admission while others are still pending.

Q: Why Georgia State University ?
A: Apart from the fact that they offered me full tuition waiver, an employment and a monthly stipend, Georgia State University stands out for me because they match my objectives, training opportunities and field research . These are in line with my goal of being a lecturer after my Masters and PhD Programs. Also, apart from the fact that he has been helpful to me through out the admission process, I am particularly fascinated by the research work of Professor Gengsheng Qin. He researches on "statistical methods in diagnostic medicine and biological research" ; " survival analysis" etc which will be very effective in my quest to being a biostatistic lecturer of note after my PhD studies. I also chose this school because of its rich culture of faculty and student diversity.

Q: Where is Georgia state university located?
A: It is located in Downtown Atlanta Georgia USA.

Q: Why do you want to have this degree?
A: My dream is to impart knowledge to the younger generations and in order to do that having a masters and PhD degree will increase my market value when i return to my al mata (Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka) in Nigeria

Q: Who is your sponsor?
A: My school( Georgia State University) is sponsoring me. They offered me a tuition waiver with an employent as a graduate lab assistant and a monthly stipend. The deficit will be covered by my first cousin Mr Michael Uhuegbu.

Q: What does he do?
A: He is studying for his PhD in Vanderbilt University right now.

Q: Are you married?
A: Yes i am

Q: Do you have a relative in America?
A: I don't have a immediate relative but i have a first cousin by name Mr Michael Uhuegbu

Q: Why is he sponsoring?
A: He has been so passionate about my career and I told him about my ambitions. After i got my admission and he saw the funding deficit he immediately said he would cover it.

Q: Why do you want to study in the US?
A: Apart from the part that the US is known to have one of the best education system in the world having my education in the US will expose me to the advance practical and theoretical aspects of statistics. Also like I said having a master and PhD degree from an america university will do my credentials a whole lot of good on returning to my al mata Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

Q: How did you get to know this school?
A: After outlining my aims and objectives I decided to do a comprehensive search to find and filter schools in line with my goals. I did this by using google and other academic websites like USNEWS.com etc

Q: What is your study plan/What are the courses you’ll be taking?
A: It would take me about 28 months to complete the total of 30 credit hours ( comprising of 24 hours coursework and 6 hours thesis research). My courses include but not limited to Survival analysis, Advance methodologies in Biostatistics, Linear Statistical Analysis etc

Q: What’s your plan after graduation?
A: With my updated knowledge of the various aspects of Statistics and its application, I’ll be coming back home to the role of a lecturer in my al mata Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

Q: If I give you this visa, what will you do?
A: That means I have 28 months to equip myself with the theoretical and practical skills needed to be a lecturer and then I will head back to my al mata Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nigeria to take up a lecturer role and impact knowledge. My al Mata have since been experiencing dearth of statistics lecturers and i I would like to fill this void.

Thanks!

Looks like you are doing Masters & PhD at same time. Weird!

@bold....both are the exact causes of your denials. For starters, it is a bad idea to take an admission letter from a community college to the embassy, whether you are 17, 18 or 25. This is well-known knowledge on this forum if you cared to read through. Obtaining a F1 visa to attend a community college from an embassy in Nigeria is highly difficult, but not impossible. Since the last how many years, the visa officers have consistently shown preference for undergraduate students attending regular universities vs community colleges.

If you really want to attend a community college, your best bet is to apply to both a university and a community college, get admission from both, however obtain your visa using your university admission/I-20 and transfer to the community college upon arrival in the US.

Second, you already have a bachelor's degree. Even if you obtained admission from a regular university, the odds are still stacked against you because you already have a bachelor's degree. The visa officers rarely approve visas for those going for repeat degrees of the same level, except in rare cases where you have a seriously sound and cogent reason to explain why you are going for another bachelor's degree and not master's instead.

Third, your age might be another factor. For undergraduate applicants, the preferable age range for candidates is between 16 and 24 by the visa officers. Those over 25 going for undergraduate studies will have to explain why they could not get one previously. Past age 25/26 it becomes tougher but not impossible.

Basically, you have 3 huge odds against you - the type of school that you are applying to (community college vs university), you are applying for an associate degree (which is lower than the bachelor's that you already have, similar to OND vs Bsc) and your age.

Oh my! I didn't know i had dis many red flag and screaming in my application... I'd like to reach out if you don't mind plss

My intended answer when asked Y did I choose the university of Idaho
Answer
Apart from being given partial funding
Firstly, I have spoken to all representatives of all 4 universities I got admitted into, professor Michael Dorathey of the university of Idaho was the one that convinced me more on what I stand to gain as an international student at the university, like practical and critical thinking skills, which other universities didn’t offer me, and I’ll be guided by nationally recognized professor , teaching top ranked programs.

Secondly I choose the university to Idaho because I’ll be able to immerse myself in hand on research beyond classroom, developing critical thinking skills, discipline and knowledge that employers want. There I’ll grow, learn and be prepared for my future career.

Social life is another reason I chose the university of Idaho, with over 120+ student clubs and organizations, u of I had something for everyone to get involved in, make memories and have fun. Explore all the ways, I can get the most out of my college experience.

Small size classes is another reason I choose the school, classes with 20 to 30 students, this is a kind of environment I perform optimally, where I’ll be able to interact directly with my mates and with my professors.

Another reason y I choose the university of Idaho is because of the state it’s located itself, growing up in Lagos with over 20m people in population, I know how difficult and hectic it is to study in an overpopulated state, meanwhile Idaho state with just a population of 1.8 million people has one of the best academic environment to study

Pls this is my intended answer if am asked
What do u think I should add, is this convincing enough?
Which of the answers is convincing
Pls I need ur opinions

Hello all, so I chose B category(B1/B2) while making payment for my visa fee. Will I be able to use it for my interview seeing that it’s B1/B2 that’s on my receipt?
I tried to book the F1 appointment with it and it’s going through but I am bothered about what’s on the the MRV receipt. Hope I won’t be sent back on the interview day?

Hello everyone, please I need an advice urgently, I got admitted for Masters in the US with partial funding but I'm meant to provide proof of funds that covers the rest of total expenses. Is it wise to open a new bank account in my name and deposit the total money there and print the statement? Will it be accepted by the embassy as I am aware I cannot use an uncle or aunt's account statement. Whats the best idea to go about providing a proof of funds. Any advice is welcomed please, I'm in a hot sit right now. Thank you all

Hello, thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread. It's no small job that is being done here.

I have a situation and I'd like to hear our experienced persons' take on it.

I want to visit the states so as to satisfy the fiance visa meeting requirement. Been more than 2 years since the last meeting between me and my gf of 10 years whom I now intend to marry.

Is the above a satisfactory answer when asked why I intend to visit the states? Do I need to bring proof of relationship to support my answer? I do have tons of those.

Also, I intend to run my masters degree in a university close to her home after we get married and I'm legally residing in the states. But just in case I apply for a visit visa and don't get it, will that affect my chances with f1?

What would you advice?

Thank you sincerely.

Sincerely, the best idea is a ‘running account’. Like, Open a new account and deposit the said amount ke? No na. Think about it again, it doesn’t sound right. Me, that I’m not the VO sef would think, after I give this one visa him go, go commot the money and close account then, enter USA and Japa. Like, a running account speaks a lot, Like, vo go even see say “this guy money no be today; see in and out flows”. E CHOKE for him side.

Wait sef, some schools would even tell you to provide a sponsor and tell the bank to a fill section of the longevity (year the account was opened) of the account and average inflow per and each months of the school requirement (mostly last 3months). Just so you know, new account won’t help.

Shalom!
