Obama30 you should know Ghana is a blessed nation after God's own heart and would ALWAYS WIN regardless the ills you wish it. We've been supplying electricity to Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso since the inception of our Akosombo and Aboadze power plants. All the 4 countries that share in the West Africa gas pipeline have part ownership of the infrastructure. Ghana has 16.3%, Togo, Benin both share 2%, Nigeria owns the rest. Ghana does about 170 000 barrels of oil production currently, EXPORTING about 140,000 barrels. The 90000 you mentioned is REFINED petroleum that we consume. We import about 85 000 barrels of refined oil. If we repair our oil refinery/build new ones, which are in the pipeline, we can EASILY take care of our petroleum needs. Nigeria that produces about 2 million barrels of crude oil, consuming about 325 000 barrels and refining just 35 000 barrels still IMPORTS 223 000 barrels of refined crude. You won't see that one to talk about. Our cocoa is still patronized the world over and we're still number 2 world producer and enjoying premium payments for our unique cocoa quality. Yes galamsey threatens the sector and govt is working to address that. The Chinese have nothing on us. We're the 10th largest contributor to UN peacekeeping. We're the most peaceful country in West Africa. Our diplomacy is very respected in the comity of nations. We're a small country but we punch above our weight 1 Like |

Obama30 read up the Aborigines Right Protection Society of the then Gold Coast and see how their advocacy on the Land bill of 1897 saved West African lands from being annexed by the British as happened in East/South Africa. Nkrumah engendered the independence struggle in Africa etc etc. |

mdntiri: You are extremely correct the infrastructure which Ghana has is solidly built. Most of the dams which Nigerian build are operating below 50% capacity. Nigeria go and build dams in desert areas.. the infrastructure which Nigeria is building is just cheap publicity which cannot last |
I have stayed in Ghana for many years and it is not true Ghana's infrastructure is more so lately structured. Nigeria's infrastructure Nigeria infrastructure is on collapse and it is cheaply built when Nigeria build something in five years it is falling apart Well you've lived in both countries so you may know what you're talking about. But Nigeria by virtue of it's size, large population, diversity, riches, oil economy etc etc has more and better infrastructure than Ghana, no arguments there. |

Nigeria only survives on borrowing money since 1995 there is no State in Nigeria which is profitable. Just look at this picture of the next president of Nigeria and tell me if the country is serious. Nigeria economy is grossly falsified, the country is not a producer but a consumer and the people are illiterate they believe big population is development

obama30: We need to tell ourselves the truth and stop deceiving ourselves Our GDP per capita is one of the lowest in the world. Definitely lower than Ghana's. We are going backwards This is particularly true when you factor in much of Northern Nigeria. If you removed Northern Nigeria it would be a completely different story |

SUFFERInSMILIIN:Actually they are different. They are not surviving on borrowing money. There is no nation that does not borrow. You are mixing up public finances with the Economy They are completely different things At any rate the question is do the governments service their debts, do they have a revenue stream to do so? Are they doing so with distress? Do you know how much Dangote Group owes? The Economy of those places has virtually zero consumer credit. The economy as measured by GDP in the SW is decent as is GDP per capita .That is what I was referring to along with other Human Development Indices |

SUFFERInSMILIIN:We must separate opinion or feelings from facts. Why should I accept your opinions? Do you have data What effectively you are saying is your opinion is superior to data because you don't like the data I know it may not seem so to you but it is what it is. The data no matter how unreliable it is cannot be replaced by your opinion which is one out of thousands. You sat GDP is "grossly over inflated" . Please answer specifically 2 questions What is the basis for your claim Provide a more realistic GDP that is not inflated 1 Like |
Re: South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania And Ghana Ahead In all Economical Aspect by SUFFERInSMILIIN(m): 6:51pm On May 15, 2021 |
Nigeria's GDP is grossly over-inflated and it is over inflated by the government the government tells the just companies to inflate their future. And also when companies close in Nigeria their revenue is never cancelled. If you take Elijah Steel plant and nytol including Nigerian Airways they are still operational on the Nigerian government figures. All the companies which have closed on the government figures they are still operating this is why the GDP is so high it is never rebeast. So you find 60% of the companies which the GDP are captured by the government are actually closed

Re: South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania And Ghana Ahead In all Economical Aspect by SUFFERInSMILIIN(m): 7:01pm On May 15, 2021 |
omonnakoda: Listen I came to invest in Nigeria about 10 years ago assisting i was told by government official if to increase our capital by 10 times so the banks would be will to borrow us money. Also they told us we have to put a very high capital base even if we do not have the money so that people will be interested in investing. When will left the country what do today our company is still registered and the revenue is still allocated although will shut down 7 years ago. All the companies which have packed up in Nigeria their revenue earnings and Investment are never cancelled. Opti today in government books Elijah Steel company is worth 3 billion US dollar. Nigerian Airways is what 2.2 billion US dollar. Nitel is worth 1.1 billion US dollar. If you are just adding investment, Econet is still worth 300 million US dollar and not cancelling the Investment which have left the country then it is a problem. All so the GDP is inflated so that the country can borrow money.

SUFFERInSMILIIN:Very interesting biographical anecdotes which unfortunately are diversionary and do not answer the questions asked. None of that is evidence that the economy GDP is "grossly overinflated " and None of that tells us what YOU BELIEVE is a more realistic measure of GDP . Without the latter we cannot say it is "grossly" overinflated 1 Like |

omonnakoda: Ok if you're gdp is right how come South Africa more infrastructure, also also there are a lot of countries with less GDP but have more infrastructure than Nigeria. Does it make sense to add nigerian properties abroad as part of Nigeria's GDP. This is what the government of is doing. |
Re: South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania And Ghana Ahead In all Economical Aspect by omonnakoda: 4:06pm On May 16, 2021 |
SUFFERInSMILIIN:There is no logical nexus between what you quoted and your questions about South Africa. Did you comprehend what you quoted? Where did I say GDP is right? Do you have evidence for your claim that properties abroad are added as part of GDP? Properties whether abroad or at home are not added as part of GDP anywhere. GDP is a measure of economic output so there is no way property will be included . Clearly you are out of your depth here and are just commenting for the sake of it 1 Like |
