How is the fuel consumption?

Good evening car enthusiasts and dealers. I'm in the process of getting a car for my wife. We prefer an SUV because of the terrain of the area where we live so we finally settled for a Tokumbo 2004 Honda CRV instead of a 2001 Camry we had earlier inspected.

I have invited my mechanic to do necessary checks on the car and run a VIN check and everything clicks good, asides the radio which requires a code to come on but he said he will circumvent that code for us. The car is neat and engine and gear are in top condition.

But he's advising me that the parts are a bit pricey compared to the 2001 Camry we wanted to pay for initially, and that it doesn't do well on long distance journeys, especially if we intend to put it on the road regularly, say Lagos to Ibadan and back, as the engine might fail. That it is best for intracity use (short distance commuting) unlike the Toyota which would best any distance and weather without any problem.

So please I need Honda users/dealers/seasoned mechanics to please tell me if this is true.

Is the 2004 Honda CRV Strong and reliable?

Is it easy to maintain?

Is it fuel efficient?

Are the parts easily available?

I'm sure your mechanic is one of those old school mechanics who learn how to repair cars with Toyota and Datsun. Just make sure if you get it he's not the one you'll be using to maintain the vehicle.

For the radio it's simple.
You need first of all the serial number of the radio. You can do that by holding down 1 and 6 together on the radio then turn the ignition to on. The s/n will display so you can quickly write it down. Then proceed to https://hondaradiocodes.com/ and input the s/n to get the code. That's all

My dear the car is good I have driven one for over 5 years and is still going on strong and fuelling will not tear your pockets besides the parts are relatively cheap just do your routine servicing

with what you just stated, i think what you should be bothered about is your Mechanic and not the Car.

From personal experience, Honda CR-V is a very strong car that won't give you any fault whatsoever as long as you keep up with a very good maintenance culture and not cut corners when its time for you to purchase genuine parts. The 2.4L engine is very reliable and can take you to Maiduguri and back if need be.

You should be weary of that your kazeem you call mechanic before he tells you to remove the thermostat immediately after buying the vehicle.

I also use a crv 2004..pay for it if everything is ok.strong car for bad roads.that mechanic needs to be flogged .the parts cannot break your pockets.its a better car than the camry.ask me any other questions about the car

The fuel consumption is very very ok.the Ac chills very well too.but pls and pls ,squat and check under the car for rust before you pay for it.pls.its almost a year I bought mine and I have not replaced anything in it,despite I bought it naija used in Abuja.the car is a high ride and passes bad roads and potholes with ease.
