All these things are quite straight forward and logical to develop.
Probably, it works fine in your school. A name like "Gist4campus" definitely will not be used by anybody who is not a student, as the name is rather childish.
Business executives cannot be using that kind of thing. People who never went to university, will feel always psychologically oppressed and left out as the word, "campus" only reminds them of their failure to pass jamb.

They will rather go back to BlackBerryMessenger or any other "messenger" sounding app.
As for the security of the app, well, we cannot know until yahoo boys try their best and fail at spoiling it.
Its better than not having a nigerian app

The question is WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST THEY DO?

Don’t be just a critic, offer suggestions and solutions.
When this issue came up, once u open whatsapp you would see this warning to either accept their new terms or lose ur account with a certain time.

That decision was very unpopular and whatsapp lost some members while rivals like telegram and signal gained more members.

Facebook had to do a lot damage control and tacitly withdrew the threat of anyone losing their account for not accepting such terms.

All these happened very openly online and offline and everyone knows it, in fact it has actually almost been forgotten , then four months after our ever vigilant government started warning Nigerians about the consequences of Facebook latest terms, what does that say about the seriousness of such government?

Don't u think this is the way they been handling the affairs of this country that we are in such a mess.

A reasonable government when criticized, look into such criticism and make amends.

What stop Nigerians from Developing there own whatsapp that can go globally.

Facebook is looking for what to generate revenue from whatsapp. Since the bought WhatsApp they have been looking possible ways to make money from it's. But I think the step they are taking is the wrong time.

Instead of free whatsapp they should collect money from subscription. Sharing data with facebook is a no go area as it doesn't make any sense. I have read the policy several times and it doesn't make any sense.

Whatsapp is going to lose many subscribers for this move.
I think people are massively overreacting. Whatsapp and Facebook are essentially the same business operation. They just want more ways of advertising to you and that's fair enough since whatsapp is free!

Oh well I see sometimes how our leaders try to help us not get into deep shit, cause they can always get away with our stolen funds, how do they try ??
Now they are advising us about WhatsApp privacy, the other time it was ban on cryptocurrency in banks, but the youths agitated, we will always refuse all of the instructions they lay cause we think it’s for their benefit and against our greedy growth. Oh well Nigerian government there is nothing you can do about telling us what to adhere to cause right now y’all concerned about taking out jobs and putting our monies in tight places we can’t reach. The whites have masterminded us to well by pushing Apple products to Nigeria, that enough is a lot to monitor without having to caution us about privacy. Virtually every Nigerian at the age of 15 wants to be an Apple user, which we have little or no idea how it works. It’s painful we accepted and embraced their technology so fast. To cap it all we use the internet they provide for us. So whatelse is left of us.

Nigerian government the funds you steal can’t it be enough to launch our satellite, can’t we sponsor brilliant Nigerian kids making waves in technology locally.

We need help as a nation

The mastermind has eaten deep we can’t get away. They are more happier we are noted for the highest number of scammers

The truth is some of us jus want to react. There aren't different whatsapp for different regions it is the same one and only app with the same terms and conditions and the same privacy settings. Sometimes we jus want to react in dis part jus for reacting sake. Majority of us have all our private information displayed of Facebook and still worry about information sharing with Facebook. We are reacting over the wrong privacy concerns
I think people are not patronising Facebook as such anymore, the reason for his (zuckeberg) chopping and changing.

There can be different WhatsApp for different regions brother. You won't know coz you don't know.

There's a reason why it always request for your location? Isn't?
Their policies are even slightly different in some regions. Australia for example had to battle with Facebook on Ads. After various deliberations with Aussie government, they reached an agreement that Facebook should pay certain commission to content publishers as well.

I kuku no get privacy before. I discuss confidential information on Gmail alone and you need two to three steps verifications before you can access my mails.
Beforwle I got my smart phone, I do request my business partners to communicate through Email, there was a day I had a business dicuasion with someone and person ask about my WhatsApp number, I said to hime that I do communicate through mail, the person be like this guy has not advanced,

I told him immediately that WhatsApp and Facebook isn't for sharing confidential information, my man desagreed, 3 days later he was dump of almost 300k from his bank account.

If they couldnt implement the policy in the EU why bring it to Africa. The time has come for Africans to start looking at ways of using alternative platforms and possibly encourage our tech guys to come up with unique models that can compete globally.
Imagine that Whatsapp was created by a Nija based company. Do you think the government and powerful interests would have allowed it to operate? The enemies of progress are all over the place, and that's why the country is stuck.

Sane Nigerians should limit the sharing of sensitive personal information on private messaging and social media platforms as the initial promise of privacy and security is now being overridden on the bases of business exigency.

Any messaging app that is not end2end encrypted is not ok. They will still harvest your data.
I have since updated and I see no difference in service or my WhatsApp posts appearing on facebook.
WhatsApp FAQ says it's for marketing which anybody can opt out of anytime.
I don't see what the problem is. You go to some websites and agree/accept cookies and all. Makes no difference to me.
They already have y'all data cheesy
