Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 8:25am On May 16, 2021 |
kennethfranc:Yes chief, a lot of factors are responsible for this, which I would highlight later once I'm less busy. But the answer still remain a capital YES although if due process is followed the chances is reduced. 1 Like |

GreatDamife:Excellent sir, continue like that and please avoid mushy behaviors too, like excessive petting etc and also give your dog food rich in animal protein and calcium. |

seunH: Common factors responsible for vaccine failure in Nigeria: 1) Fake/Substandard vaccine 2) Poor vaccine storage 3) Improper administration of vaccine especially by untrained individuals 4) Vaccinating an already sick dog 5) Not vaccinating at the right age 6) Genetics (although rare in Nigeria) All the above can be avoided if your dog is vaccinated at the right age according to the vaccination schedule published on this thread, by going preferably to a Vet Teaching Hospital or Standard Vet Hospital where you would have access to well preserved vaccines and access to qualified staffs who would properly vaccinate your pets. Please avoid quacks and don't because of looking for something cheap go for a substandard vaccine because at the end the repercussion is very grave. I hope this helps!!! 1 Like |

Pls my dog is suffering from parvo virus...is there any way I can do home treatment for him.The vet charges are too much |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 7:48am On May 29, 2021 |
lamikas:Good morning ma, so sorry I've been offline for a while now, I've been very busy. I hope my response is not too late, and if it is then let this be a form of education to others. It isn't advisable to attempt home treatment for your dog due to the fact that parvo is very contagious and can affect other dogs in your home and even environment, hence the need to evacuate asap to a vet hospital. Also as the disease progresses, it becomes very difficult for the dog to feed, take medicines or even fluids and may vomit if you attempt force feeding, hence its only via IV infusion that you can manage your dog, which is not advisable to be done at home except in the hospital by a professional. I believe you love your dog ma, hence do the best for your lovely pet, if it's not too late. I hope this helps for everyone!!! |

dexpee4life:Good morning Sir, how is the family? Which other symptoms are you seeing? If none, then I'll advice you to give your dog food rich in vegetables and then supplement with multivitamins. For the fish intestine......hmmmm.... I'm not to comfortable, why not the fish instead. I hope this helps? |

seunH: Good morning seun, my cauc came on heat in april and i took her to a male dog for crossing. Left her there for 2 days and upon her return, i noticed she couldn't control her bladder anymore. She was always urinating in her cage and even when she's outside d cage, she keeps squatting to wee but nothing comes out. I suspected a urinary tract infection so i requested for a urinalysis test. D result came out positive for uti and we also did a sensitivity test and got names of drugs dat worked effectively against the infection. But before we got the result, d vet asked me to give her augumentin pending when we get the result. She was responding to the drugs after some days and we just decided to continue giving her the drugs and not the one from the test. After 10days of giving her the drugs, the infection returned with full force. This time with blood in her urine. We placed her on cefixime for another 10days (was one of d drugs recommended from the sensitivity test). She completed the dosage and seemed better. Now 10 days after the end of d dosage, the infection is back. Abeg help a tired dog mum. What do i do now to make the infection go permanently. |

CommandosKennel:You can dissolve it in water and give your dog to swallow. For the recommendation, you can get mectizan®, it has been reported to be very good. I hope this helps!!! 1 Like |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 11:17am On Jun 09, 2021 |
treasurevee9:Good morning ma, I'm so sorry about the condition and I can assure you all will be well, please put your mind at rest. If I'm to judge from what you've said above, it's either the infection was not completely cured or there is something in your environment inducing the re-infection. Hence, from the first point, it could be the drug was not strong enough or a brand of poor quality, there could also be error in dosage in relation to the severity of the condition and also poor nutrition. From the second point, it could be from environmental factors; like contaminated environment, utensils etc. Hence before we take our next step, we need to decontaminate. Therefore, I'll advice we go for another sensitivity test, this time around, I'll guide you all through and monitor the progress and advice you on the best brand. If you are convenient, I can send my WhatsApp contact to you for effective monitoring. I hope this helps, I'll be on standby. |

seunH: Thank you for your selfless service Dr. Ok think my dog has this myiasis of a thing I tried to press out the larva and surprisingly I was able to press two out . I stopped because the wound is opened and I don't have anything to treat it with it. Please save my dog Dr. It's young. I must admit I made mistake by not vaccinating it. I am ready for all treatments now. There is also tick on its body which I try to remove manually

Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by Walexz02(m): 12:27pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
Also the wounds are many with some appearing daily Removing the lava one after the other will be very difficult, is there any drug I can give my dog to kill those larva from inside . The dog is very week. |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 2:05pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
Walexz02:Good afternoon sir, to be sincere with you, based on all you said above, I'll advice you to take your dog to the nearest Veterinary clinic/hospital for complete medical checkup and vaccination. Meanwhile, for the myasis you can rub palm oil or Vaseline around the body, this will suffocate the larva and it would come out, then you can now apply GV over the wound area. For the ticks you can get this drug Bravecto®, it's an oral drug and also Fipronil spray, that would take care of the the ticks externally. For the weakness, you can get glucose solution coupled with Bcomplex and try and encourage your dog to eat. But as I said earlier, your best bet is to take your dog to the hospital where professionals would physically attend to your dog. I hope this helps!!!. And I'm sorry once more |

seunH: My vet is saying she will come tomorrow to give her injections. I wouldn't mind having your WhatsApp number. Do u mean that she going back to the same spot she used to do her business when she was infected can make the infection come back again? |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 3:56pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
treasurevee9:Very possible ma, infact it's a major route. Then one more thing, please confirm your Vet, to be sure even if you trust her. I'll DM my number to you. |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by treasurevee9(f): 4:04pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
seunH: Sorry, i should confirm what? |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 4:10pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
treasurevee9:Her qualification ma, I want you to have the best hands especially when it comes to injecting your pet, because such procedures are very sensitive and we have many non-vets who may claim to be vets. |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by treasurevee9(f): 4:19pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
seunH: Oh ok. She's a qualified vet dr |

Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by seunH: 8:38pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
Walexz02:I advice you go to UI Veterinary hospital, it's the most standard. I don't have a WhatsApp group yet, all I do here is basically to give pet owners access to geniue veterinary services at no cost inorder to prevent innocent pet owners from falling into the hands of quacks. |
Re: Talk To A Veterinarian by Walexz02(m): 10:38pm On Jun 09, 2021 |
Thank you Dr. I really appreciate your replies. UI is very far from my side, are you in Ibadan or can recommend a vet Dr. That can help. You did not mention any drug to be used for the myiasis infection . Tried removing the larva this night and applied oil as recommended. I removed more than 25pieces.
