IGBOSON1:I love your line of argument. Without the right economy to sustain such, we'll have a repeat of some of the empty high-class estates in Abuja. As @Akswift also stated, let the growth be organic, and when it gets to the point where such buildings are needed, they'll "sprout" up themselves, even without Government interference |

sanctity454:Looking at this institution again, I just wonder... If only Uzodimma could do the same thing Rochas did with Eastern Palm university, in terms of building structure. The buildings here look so plain like something meant for Ahiara technical college, and not higher institutions. On a side note, I'm actually happy the government is trying to reduce the congregation of higher institutions in Owerri. Now that branches are being open in other areas, they'll bring with them the positives associated with siting higher institutions in an area |

Yampotatocarrot:There's no where in imo state budget, that funds where appropriated for this institution. Hope simply used TETFUND intervention to set up those structures for now. I know for sure that newer structures under construction will look better. |

Abagworo:Few private investors will do such.Besides, I see nothing stopping the SE governors from building it.Ph highrise was done by the government, greater pH highrise was done by government, cocoa house ibadan built by government, that of Akwaibom built by government, ogun has begun building a befitting city center that will host highrise so what again stops our governor's from setting the pace? We can't continue to wait for so called private investors- that's why my state is the only state without an airport in the East. The money belongs to the people, instead of using billions for building and maintenance of state houses in lagos and Abuja, let the government of the East build at least two high rises in city centres |

AKswift:No I kindly disagree with these.States in the SE and Nigeria as a whole have a very bad land use policy. for instance,in civilized society's ,one can own just an apartment in a high rise building ,or even a floor.Such policies are what Nigeria should implement.Government/investors build highrises and sell apartment by apartment,or floor by floor. We have barely made optimal use of above the surface potential of land, talk less of below surface infrastructure. That will definitely affect Nigerian cities as time goes by. Lagos and Abuja has no single underground transport network or even industries-why ? because they waited for this organic growth and now the cost of providing them in the case of Lagos will the astronomical . You don't wait till you actually need an infrastructure before you build it, you forsee a need and you build for it- example the story of Dubai and modern China. A high rise is a building from 10-15 floors I think,we aren't discussing skyscrapers but high rises.we have limited land in the East and almost everyone wants to be in the urban areas. In aba today, peeps are bringing down duplexes and two story buildings to erect 4-5 storey residential apartments.if we wait for that organic growth a time will come when we will have to bring down those 4-5 storey apartments. The issue should be cost, is there a way that we can build a highrise and rent it out at affordable cost ?? is there a way to provide better independent electricity for our States ?and that leads us back to the only question- when will we. get revolutionary leaders like mbakwe again ? |

eduj:I concur totally, Owerri is not feasible for such, talks, it took bold investment of Evang Mike Ikoku in Owerri hospitality industry via All season hotel, before others discovered that one can make mad profits from Owerri like lagos and Abuja. I repeat Owerri can sustain a cluster of 10 floors building. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by SmartPolician: 10:08am On May 20, 2021 |
sanctity454:Nwanne, there's nothing classy about those pix; it's just an everyday hotel. @eduj, If we must get stable electricity, the federal government must remove it from the exclusive list. No governor will build power stations for the entire country to use. The national grid NONSENSE is not helping us. Electricity generation, transmission and distribution should be on state-by-state basis. Like I always say, if the power dynamics come to the concurrent list, governors will use the resources they have in their states to generate power. For instance, Enugu and Ebonyi can use coal while other states in the region will build gas-fired power stations. Yes, there's clean coal. |

| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Amah70: 12:12pm On May 20, 2021 |
sanctity454:Build one first in Owerri. If it’s occupied for business and residential purposes and yields profit to you, others shall follow. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nigercity: 12:49pm On May 20, 2021 |
AKswift:Oga I kindly disagree with you Building high rise in the East does not really need to be organic like you guys are saying, Waiting for the evolution to start individual is the reason while eroupean cities don't really have high-rise like there American and Asian counterparts, Do you think it would be easily for people to start demolishing there 5/4 storey buildings (which is the current ongoing on trend now) to build high rise. Even when the are making gains The truth is IMSG should build few high rise in the cities rent it out at lower price, and gradually increase the price With these other private institution will follow suites, thats how it works Even in Lagos, government started the constitution of 5-7 storey buildings b4 individuals joined (check most government own estates in lag). Even cities less populated than our cities all have high rise in other continents I was even surprised that little Gaza that's roughly has 2 millions has such number of high rise contrary to what I thought! Fact is, our region is the most dense populated in Nigeria So we need high-rise more than any other region |

Amah70:Why haven't u built one university in 0rlu? |

sanctity454:That guy de worry too much. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Amah70: 4:01pm On May 20, 2021 |
Juliusmalema2:Did you build the universities in Owerri? Do you know the cost of providing treated running water to just one LGA in a state like Imo? The present government is grappling with providing treated running water to the people of Imo state, while some ignoramuses, including you, here are chattering boxes of how IMSG or private businesses can build high rise buildings in Owerri. Rochas Okorocha pampered some of you people as his drive to become president of Nigeria made him waste 8 years funds of the LGAs of Imo state in building useless edifices in Owerri and his private businesses. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Juliusmalema2: 4:59pm On May 20, 2021 |
Amah70:Ur craze na follow come. U asked someone to build a sky scraper in Owerri cos he was demanding that government does so; in same way I asked that u should also build a university in Orlu, since u always hammer on 'there are no higher institutions in Orlu'. Guy, abeg fix ur madness! |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ofodirinwa: 5:14pm On May 20, 2021 |
eduj:If we build a 10 story building that a hypothetical 6000 people will work in, how will you deal with traffic? If you replace all of the 5 stories in Onitsha with 10 stories it would become a hellhole. Unless you have an idea on how to balance the challenge. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 5:47pm On May 20, 2021 |
Ofodirinwa:We have been so used to bad governance in this nation that problems solved decades ago still befuddles us . if onitsha has more 10 storey buildings, land would have been freed up for others aspects of development. secondly traffic indicipline and bad transport infrastructure is the major cause of traffic jam in Nigeria. |

Juliusmalema2:A govt-subsidized university is meant to educate people and usher economic development in area located. High rise buildings are built by private investors in places with overflowing population and industrial/ service business clusters that will occupy them and pay commensurate rent. How many industrial/service business clusters of mass employment are in Owerri? The high rise buildings they desire in Owerri must sink individual water boreholes, as nearly every business and rich households in Owerri do; until landslides set in from breaking the underlying rocks for boreholes water in Imo state —- In bold: you are sane. Na you win. Any other form of insult? Characteristics of poorly educated person. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Juliusmalema2: 9:44am On May 21, 2021 |
Amah70:I am well educated, just that u de make person vex at times. At least u spoke well this time. Hope u are good? |

| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 11:28am On May 21, 2021 |
sanctity454:That park will never be built. Our politicians as well as some people who do not know the value of tourism undermine its goldmine status. Owerri grew so much under Okorocha because of tourism but many people wrongly believe commerce and manufacturing is the best. Hotels and entertainment centers pay better and have better working conditions for employees than factories and shops. Owerri remains a potential tourism haven as the culture has come to stay but still yearning for more investment in sightseeing parks and resorts. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 11:47am On May 21, 2021 |
Abagworo:Have faith bro and positive minded, even Rochas okorocha and Hope is about to reconcile their differences. Imo state is ours, if it comes good all of us benefits but if it goes bad, we all looses. |
