Hello

Please I have a friend who would like to help me out with his bank statement for a study permit. He cannot transfer to my account as the money is for business Please what should be the accompanying document: an affidavit, a sponsorship letter or what else?
Thanks

Pls respond as I am in a similar situation as this.

Good day.
Please My sponsor is a very close family friend who owns a ministry and wants to sponsor me in the name of the Church. He has been sponsoring my education since my high school, he's a permanent resident in the USA but also a Nigerian citizen. He will be providing a sponsorship letter and the bank statement of the church. Is there any document that you feel should be provided to support my proof of funds requirements?[/quote]

My brother got an immigration lawyer to query them on their decision for denying the visa after all the requirements was met but I still feel it would havebeen different if he wrote the LOE.
may99:

Defer your admission and order for your GCMS note to find out the complete details. You mentioned that there was no sponsor letter, I suggest you correct that in your next application.

Also, write a killer SOP explaining why you want to study in Canada, your short and long term goals back in Nigeria, and family ties that connect you to Nigeria. You can find out more information about SOP on the first page of this thread.

Goodluck

Thank you so much
bollybeejay:

Order your gcms notes, when did u apply, talking about assests probably you didn't submit your personal bank statement, you can address this situation by submitting your bank statement, if you have any landed property in your name, or you have a registered Business in your name, something that shows you're established in Nigeria and that it will bring you back to the country, that still talks about hometies aspect of your application, you need to convince them you re established in the country

Landing gist!!
From Abuja to Toronto using Ethiopian airline;
My flight was on the 17th of May by 1:35pm but I got to the airport by 9:15 to check in and prepare myself for excess luggage (which at the end, I didn’t get)

At the Abuja airport; they asked for;
Passport, with stamped study visa
Enrollment letter
COVID test
Hotel quarantine plans
Flight ticket.

Little advice; you could wrap your luggage at the airport cause of change of aircraft to about tear or manhandling of your luggage. I think it’s 500 naira per baggage.
To be honest, the food served on Ethiopian airline wasn’t bad for me, we were served basmati rice with either beef, chicken or curry sauce.

At Addis Abba I was only asked for my passport and boarding pass. Lay over was 2 hours.
We stopped at Dublin for refuel but we didn’t get down from the plane. We were there for like an hour and 30 mins or so.

On our way to Canada, we were given 3 different forms to fill, which they asked for at the Canadian immigration center at the Pearson airport.

At the Toronto airport, asked for my passport and for me to drop my face mask so they could see my face, and give the reason for my trip. Then moved to a different side, where I was asked for enrollment letter, the forms I filled on the plane, COVID test result, ArriveCAN, admission letter.

One of the forms was signed and stamped. Then I moved to immigration side where I was asked questions like why I am in Canada, name of school, course, previous education, school fees receipt, passport, filled forms, enrollment letter. After everything my passport was stamped and I was given the official study permit. And they explained things like I am legible to work for some hours per week, and when the study permit will expire and co.

Went down stairs, got my luggage, then signed up for health switch for COVID test. Took a covid test and was given a personal COVID test kit to be taken on Day 8 of quarantine. Then hotel buses came to pick us from the airport depending on our individual hotels. Like 6 in the bus. I booked Crowne plaza, I paid $950 (USD) cash at the hotel. Will be leaving the hotel tomorrow morning ( done with quarantine).

So that’s it.

Let him do a gift deed for you or pay at least your tuition fee for one semester. Then get him to do affidavit of support and write a letter of support too. Finally, get his statement of account for at least six months.

In my opinion a second degree doesn't show progression, and i want to be convinced that the other program at SAIT is a diploma program and not a post graduate diploma, though those choices of program a very good compared to your education and background, having worked as a chemical operator environmental science wouldn't be such a bad idea but whatever program you're going for must be on a post graduate level, either a post graduate diploma or post graduate Certificate in Ontario as the case may be.

Him sponsoring your education since high school is different from him sponsoring you as a church, so that leads to the answer, if he is sponsoring you as a church, what does the church stand to gain sponsoring your education at such a very expensive cost, you should be very convincing if he is sponsoring you as a church, if it can be documented that he has been sponsoring you since high school, I personally would prefer if he sponsors you as an individual rather than sponsoring you as a church, it will be easier that way since he has been involved in your education since high school. Sponsoring you as a church is very dicey, you have to be very convincing at that, cos logically why will a church spend the church money to sponsor your education? Are they organizing a scholarship education for you? What do they stand to gain from doing so, how would your education be of benefit to the church, that gives you an insight on how to package the application whichever route you chose to go through either him sponsoring you as an individual or as a church

Thank you but the program at SAIT is an applied bachelor degree program. Although i have a way through with defending in my SOP am worried about this PGD or PGC issue for an adult student.

Good afternoon honorables

Quick enquiry!!!

@Frankrobbn1, @JustMellow @Anon123 @Honorable members

I have someone who intends travelling to Canada by around early July. Her school is in Ontario, she would be doing her 3 days Hotel Quarantine & the Remaining 14 days in ONTARIO, then after the 14 days, she would travel to SASKATCHEWAN to stay with her aunt (for like 1.5 month) before she resumes to her school in ONTARIO by early September .

I want to know the possibility of this owing to COVID-19 Pandemic.

Thanks

Hello Lekiboboe,

Despite the Federal government's law and policy regarding the mandatory 3-night hotel stay and remaining 11 days quarantine in a choice location, the Provincial/Territorial/Regional authorities also have their policy and law that MAY also require any foreign national coming into their province to still quarantine despite already observing one before as instructed by the Federal government.

More information on the quarantine law and policy in Saskatoon should be requested from the host. It will be proper if after the mandatory 3-night hotel stay and the remaining 11-days be done in Saskatoon.

Thereafter, the said person can fly to Ontario which is the final destination. If the DLI has no orientation arrangement in place for students, July is somewhat early given the recent struggles resulting from COVID-19, especially in Ontario. Early August should be suitable if the person's DLI resumes in early September.

Cheers bro.

Hello everyone,

I am putting together my Canadian study permit application and have some questions to ask.

I graduated from secondary school in 2018, what is the best way to address the study gap in my SOP?

Also, my sister is studying in Canada. Do I mention her in my SOP?

Lastly, can I use a copy of my sponsor's 6 month bank statement or do I have to get his mybankstatement certificate?

Thank You

@Frankrobbn1 @Justmellow @Adiekwe1@Lekiboboe @NairaLuck @justwise @Akannitommy and other gurus, please advice

Hello EPICUnleashed,

Go with any logical reasons that demonstrate self-development i.e. paid internship or probatory in an organization, online studies or self-studying, research, training, apprenticeship, skill acquisition, or workshops, etc. There should be accompanying evidence to support the claim.

It will be best to show 1-year BS/MBS and ensure to declare your sister. This won't have any harm if your sponsor can demonstrate a good source of income and sufficient funds. You should be able to demonstrate good home ties too.

If possible, your sister can give you access to her tuition receipt(s), LOA, ID, Transcript, SP, etc. This is to prove she is still an active student with no financial backlogs and hasn't opted out of school to seek asylum or recourse.

Best of Luck

I think it’s the same. No one is cheaper! They’re both FX transfers, the only difference is that your bank is initiating the Form A on your behalf while on your dorm account, you are the operator.

Telex charge, transfer charge and VAT applies on both transactions at the same rate.

Good day Everyone, I’ve been been a silent reader here for sometime and honestly this platform has been very helpful. I’ve gotten my passport request for Canada and my program (MEng)is for September at the university of Newbrunswick. I want to travel in early July because I have plans of changing my institution when I get there and so I have already gotten admission into a college.Please @frankrobbn1, @Justmellow and anyone that can be of help, is it okay to travel by that time, and do I need to pay my school fees in my former school because I’m scared I’ll be asked of them at the port of entry. Thanks

Hello Mike5102,

...and what will be your genuine reason for wanting to facilitate entry in early July when your classes start in September?

It is better to plan your travels one month to classes resumption. Since you have already the second admission, plan your travels toward the resumption of the first.

Meaning you will have to use the LOA of the first school to facilitate entry and after your 3-night hotel stay (if both schools are not in the same province), you can travel to the province of the new DLI to complete the remaining 11 days.

Don't pay any fees to the first.

Best of Luck
