Keep putting him to the breast Mama... Most times when babies start preferring the bottle to suckling directly it's because the bottle is easier for them. But with breast, they have to suck well to get milk out.

When my baby was some days old,my nipples were too big,to enter her mouth and stay there sef na war. She will try and get fussy. It was hardwork for her. It really got to me. I never believed my nipples would one day fit in her mouth and we would nurse comfortably.

Mama Zaynie told me to keep putting her to the breast. Her paediatrician also said, because she is taking the bottle, when it's time to nurse, she will be waiting for the milk to drop in her mouth like it does with the bottle.
So,when you nurse, press the top of the boob to mimic the flow of a bottle. Soon he will adjust.

Now,we nurse so well and my milk supply has stabilized too.

Always make sure you're hydrated...drink water like a fish. Lol
Take oats, pap, bitterleaf soup(if you can find)

I also drink water before I nurse, and after

For the lactation cookies, you can get from Rofemiguwa, a Mama here on nairaland. Her IG handle is @livialactationtreats. Her products work

It will all be fine

Thanks a lot mama for your response mama. His paediatrician said the same thing, so I'm trying to make him suckle directly. We are taking it one step at a time. I mostly express and give him from a bottle, though we take formula to augment till we can finally get used to sucking directly. I ordered the cookies from the milkbooster on IG.

This is the situation with my 3-year old too for a while now. We have used different antibiotics and cough medication, including home remedies yet when it seems its going, it comes back again. If you see any remedy please share.
Stop with the antibiotics and cough syrup for now. Start giving vitamin C daily even when the coughing stops, and make sure they’re eating fruits daily too. Allergy medication like children’s bernadryl also helps especially if you administer it once you hear the first cough. Also limit the amount of direct air they get at night

My baby is 3 weeks today but for the past two weeks, she usually wakes up at exactly 1 a.m every night and cry till 5 a.m, am really worried, she usually covers her fist very tight while crying and sometimes her tummy makes noise.it happens almost every night.. Could this be colic? Does it disturb only at night... Who has experienced this.

Yes, it can happen like that. Estrogen is a hormone that does maintenance work to the vaginal tissue and helps to keep it well lubricated. Estrogen levels drop during childbirth and breastfeeding and hence the dryness. Sis, please try to give your body some grace as it adjusts itself. Water-based lubricants can help. Also, try to double and even triple the time for pre-intimacy. Use the opportunity to experiment and try different things with your partner and try to make sure you are wet before penetration. Please do not have penetrative intercourse with dryness because that will irritate the vaginal walls; ouch. Also, please stop and regroup with any sign of pain. Sexual intimacy can still happen without penetration. Bear in mind that, thankfully, this kind of dryness is short-term compared to post-menopausal dryness, in which case some use estrogen therapy. Remember: Relax, experiment, and enjoy this season wink Hope this helps...

Good day to mummy's in the house, please I really need your opinion, my boy is 1 yr old this week and I have being giving him NAN formula. But NAN is getting too expensive and I was advice to start him with peak 123 since he is 1 year old now. Is it ok with it because wifey is disagreeing with it. There is the saying that goes he that wears the shoe knows where it pinched.

Yes, after 12 months, the baby can have whole milk. There are some cases that the pediatrician will suggest continuing formula if baby needs the extra calories like in the case of babies born premature or underweight. However, if the weight percentile is healthy or above-average I can't think of a reason not to do away with the formula.

Oh Sis, I feel your pain! Yes you need a strong pump and correct size flange to get all the milk out. I live in the US. How much does the flange cost in Naija? I can look into shipping cost and let you know. What kind of medela pump are you using? The Symphony 2.0 is the best.....

Hi Mama! Sorry if this is coming late, but I just wanted to add my update since I was one of the moms that complained of my boy's speech delay.
Wow. Thank you for this. Yes, his the first child, it pretty much followed suit with yours. Well, there’s definitely improvement with your son. I’ll look into the class number. I actually was looking for a place with little number so he doesn’t feel overwhelmed or intimidated.

His 2.6years now, I see him trying to bend his lip to form the words, it just seems so difficult for him. Also, am worried he doesn’t quite understand the words. He doesn’t respond to any errand like “bring the remote” bring the water” bring your cup” etc. he just looks at me. Even if I scold him, he still doesn’t seem to understand as he would still be doing what I’m scolding him for.

Am confused as I don’t know if am being too harsh since he doesn’t understand what am saying or am being too laid back and raising a son that’ll turn out stubborn and wouldn’t listen to what I tell him.

I have taken him for evaluation was given and autism check form. He’s talked clearly before, so tongue tie isn’t an issue. Am yet to return the form. He had more of language development issues. It’s all so worrying but am holding unto God and hope.

I think you are on the right path sis. Just try and fill the form and return it back to the hospital. I watched one video on YouTube one time and it was a mother whose 3 years old boy suddenly started talking coherently after being almost mute for the better part of his life.

The woman was encouraging mothers to stay hopeful since she was almost losing hope and thinking something was definitely wrong when the son just turned around and started talking.

Yes, children are expected to be talking right from age one, but sadly, it's not the same for some of us.

But please never lose hope in God. I believe he will make a turn for the better when you least expect. And once he starts, you will be begging him to take it easy.

Please download as much kids YouTube videos as you can. Download it to your YouTube app so that you don't fill up your phone space with videos. There are tons there. I downloaded some and play it through CAST on my TV screen and he loves them. You won't know that they are recording it in their brains until one day you hear him sing or talk along with what is being shown on screen.

You will surely smile in the end my sis. I know how you feel cos I have been there, but if God could do it for my son, He definitely will do it for yours. Sending lots of warm hug.

Oh i can’t wait for such a time. I feel like i would never get tired of hearing him speak. I’ll submit the form this week. They’ll most likely subscribe him for speech therapy.

Thank u for the shoulder and strength you’ve given me. My hope is even stronger. He might just be taking his time. I after all waited for 13months for him to cut his first tooth.

I have about 7-10 kids songs and phonics. He definitely knows it so well that he makes sounds and babbles just before they do it.

I strongly wish he’d pick up before he his 3years in November. Thanks again sis.
