The dullard promised 1 dollar = 1 naira, but by 2023, when he’s done with Nigeria, 1 dollar will be = 1000 naira.

I wish it gets to like 5000 naira. By then, Nigerians might get sense.

me I know to say e no dey possible. Only gullible youths believed them hook, line and sinker

It is possible if you start to move higher currencies within an economy like what ghana did, ours will increase.

They removed that and used their standard as NGN. Well it will favour aboki coz the government has sucked everything currency leaving it to private individuals to run the show and you know what that means.

It's already 500 naira. Throughout today, I looked everywhere to buy just 1k USD for less than 500 naira , no way! Everyone I met was offering to sell at 500 naira
that's interesting. Very good for internet marketers who earn in dollars but definitely not good for the Nigeria economy. More inflation to come.

We don't care. We already know it will get to 1k before Buhari leaves.

If Tinubu takes over, we should be expecting 2k/$ before he leaves.

People should should be wise and keep their money in USD.

Apart from the above...

Everyone in Naija of 2day must have streams of income in USD ....

The age of the Naira has ended.....

Yes you're right. CBN jacked up exchange rate to over 410 naira yesterday and this has destabilised everything in the forex market before close of business yesterday. Today's experience na wah
But am still wondering why banks in Nigeria don't sell dollars to their customers? Or is it because they benefit from these BDC indirectly? Because i was at the bank to buy dollars they said it must be for my BTA or else they can't sell to me that i should go to my local BDC.

Can any of the more intelligent and economic savvy ones here please explain how exchange rates work and why the naira to dollar rate was better during GEJ’s regime ?

Was it buhari’s policies that caused this ? Or some other factor ?

Nigeria can only print Naira, we don't print dollars. So if the country is not earning enough foreign exchange through exports etc, we will have shortage of foreign exchange which will likely lead to devaluation. That is simple economics. The Nigerian economy is not diversified, we rely heavily on crude oil export for our dollar needs. So if there is disruption in crude sales/price, we have this problem.
Now, Nigeria is not selling enough crude oil, due to OPEC restrictions as a result of covid 19 pandemic. Most countries are not operating fully so the demand for crude is reduced. Also India, I believe our biggest oil market have cut oil imports due to the ravaging effect of covid 19.
In a nutshell, this is the major reason.

We have other factors like, fuel importation, low productivity, population growth, education etc
