Once I assessed the first six months of the APC government, I knew Nigerians are in serious trouble. I remember saying then right here on Nairaland that this's the worst type of government a country can get. Note that two or more devaluations are on the way. 9 Likes 1 Share

This isn't a devaluation but an almighty slap to the face of economics. If there was a devaluation of the currency to 460, that would make sense. But the present devaluation is a very timid response hence, the market voted against it by fall of the currency in the black market. As Sanusi Lamido said, the official and the market rate must never be more than a 3% differential. The present differential is more than 15% and the CBN governor, or rather, the president has refused to allow the differential be reduced to no more than 3%. This is the primary reason why the economy is comatose and prostrate. . I am certain if Buhari's unworkable forex control policies are scrapped, an extra 2% will be added to the economic growth figures yearly. 5 Likes |
