Point of correction Mr Osoba, do not try to rewrite history. Fake news did not trigger the 1967 civil war because the pogroms were already ongoing in the North before the war. The civil war was triggered by the Hausa-Fulani leaders' decision to jettison a perfect resolution to the volatility that was agreed upon at Aburi, Ghana. Sadly, this breach of agreement was encouraged by the Yoruba elites like Awolowo, Mobolaji Johnson and Adebayo who never considered that the accord was to their favour as well. Today Sanwo-Olu is fighting for a special state status for Lagos State. Would he have to do that if his kinsmen didn't sabotage the struggle for a federated nation of sovereign areas? The civil war could have been prevented if only Yakubu Gowon kept to his side of the bargain. Just like as in January 4th of 1967, the escalations going on right now can only be defused by regionalizing the nation and abolishing the 1999 Constitution to create one that won't encourage the impoverishment of him who should be rich to enrich him that should be poor. It is not fair that it is okay for someone from Kebbi who scored 110 in JAMB gets admitted on merit for Medicine in a prestigious university while another from Anambra who scores 360 can't get into the same school for the same course. It is also not fair that it is okay to see a Fulani man clutching daggers and machete while a Yoruba man who holds a pen-knife is arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons. Is it fair that the proceeds of Crude oil gotten from the Niger Delta region are spent in the North while the proceeds of Gold mining only belong to Zamfara? Is it fair that Kano State should benefit from proceeds of alcohol sale through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) despite sabotaging the profitability of Alcoholic Breweries and threatening their existence by destroying alcoholic drinks? To think it is okay for Bagudu to get some of Sani Abacha's recovered loot but the Federal Government has the exclusive right of that of James Ibori and not even Delta State whose funds it is in the first instance. If different laws apply for different people, then it is only fair to split the country so as not to make anyone feel disenfranchised. This is common sense but my suggestions can't be taken seriously since my only forte is in masturbationn.
U points a logical and well articulated. But are u serious with the bolded clause? If yes, we can work on it together and as a group |

LegendHero:Who are the "You" in the above moronic rant? The decree which abolished regional government in Nigeria was #14 seen by Gowon and his cohosts. The so-called bombing of Lagos and invading of Ore came after August 3, 1967 when the shaken military governor of western region went to the airwave to announce western region supported the war efforts against Biafra by Gowon. Gowon was comfortably housed in western region. In military parlance, western region of Nigeria was the northern regional army's command and control HQ. |

NwaAmaikpe:You are trying to rewrite history as well. The cause of the events that led to the civil war was the 1966 bloody coup whence Igbo military officers massacred, in cold blood, all the key political leaders from the north and west. While at it they ensured no single Igbo was touched. The coup failed because it was a tribal and regional coup executed with ruthless animosity and hatred. Chukwuma Nzeogu the leader of the bloody coup was so intoxicated by blood that he lost his senses and could not coordinate and take over power. He personally butchered the much revered Premier of the northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, in cold blood. When Aguiyi Ironsi an Igbo man took over government as the most senior military officer he not only failed to fish out and punish the murderers but also failed to make any attempt at reconciliation and appeasement. Chukwuma Nzeogu and his fellow murderers were retained in the army. Ironsi carried on arrogantly as if nothing happened. It was Ironsi that abolished regionalism and unified the civil service and not the 1999 constitution. Contrary to Osoba's claims there were killings of northerners in the south east after Aguiyi Ironsi was killed in a counter coup. His figure of Igbos killed in the north is fantastic and a figment of his imagination. The Aburi Accord was an aftermath of of these events. A good historian spill it all out. |

[quote author=NwaAmaikpe post=102194420] That was one of lie that ur people like to tell u for ur information Yorubas never sabotage ur struggle at anytime they didn't support ur agitation as at then doesn't result to Saboteur Blame Pa Zik for whatever happened to Igbos during that Era Not Pa Awos or yorubas because he vehemently betrayed Pa Awos to form Alliance with Pa Tafawa who eventually make him Figure Head President However he taught Pa Awo is too intelligent for him for him to manipulate...but that was an history now So be guided and stop spreading stupid information about Yorubas Point of correction Mr Osoba, do not try to rewrite history. I do not have to read it. What is the difference in the confederation of the North West East n later Midwestern that Nigerians from far n wide sat an agreed to governed themselves with compared to the one you Igbo in the military chose to enforce ? Why coup a constitutional agreed CONFEDERATION to replace it with one by the army from a section of the country ?! Where in human history do losers in a war dictate the terms n rules a country should be governed by after losing the war ?! obynzo: |

West1side:Oga during Aburi there was no war then and there were no losers. The failure of Gowon to implement Aburi caused the war in the first place. Let us be truthful on this. |
| Re: Olusegun Osoba: How Fake News From Foreign Media Triggered 1967 Civil War by West1side: 5:29pm On Oct 02, 2021 |
You are not only being untruthful but foolish at the same time. Here is the story of Aburi, a set of lunatic truncated confederate democratically elected govt which led coup n counter coups. The lunatics that orchestrated the first coup lost out n decided to wage a war but instead lost even more n then tot it wise to gain all that they lost through Aburi accord. This is why I ask initially what the coup plotters that truncated the democratically elected govt wanted for them "Igbos" to instigate the coup. What is lacking in the confederate we had before the Biafra war that those that lost the Biafra war now decided that the winners of the war should abide by loser's terms n condition of Aburi accord ?! obynzo: |

TarOrfeeek:The lie you told of Yorubas taking your property for themselves in 1967 is what will happen when your Biafra 2.0 happen again. What you've proven to the offspring of those who handed back your parents properties plus 3 year's back rent is that you're not worthy of being treated like humans. After all you're still begging ikwere who took over your properties in Port Harcourt without payment or rent and doing attache by force with them It's going to be far different at this time |
| Re: Olusegun Osoba: How Fake News From Foreign Media Triggered 1967 Civil War by West1side: 11:57pm On Oct 02, 2021 |
What led to the war was the mischief by a set of dubious Igbos to initiate a coup, a criminal act alien to Nigeria at that time. The coup with intention to steal power through the backdoor was what backfired into a counter coup. When you say Aburi was agreed btw who n who was it agreed. ? What democratically elected officials from the North to the South among Nigerians agreed on Aburi ? I am sure you can not imply that a rogue of bandit from the army with no legitimacy constitute what represent Nigerians because if that is your arguement I will argue that we all should enjoy the 1999 constitution too as it was also handed over by bandits in uniform. Igbos must wake up from the abyss of foolishness you deluded yourself by in Aburi. It lack legitimacy in every form n will never be a point of any significant reference not in this life n even the next. obynzo: |

West1side:You say the coup was led by mischievous igbos. I hope you know that two Yorubas were part of that coup. Ademoyega and Lt Fola Oyewole. also note that Ifeajuna's statement to M.D Yusuf's police special branch investigating that coup indicted AG and NCNC members. Also Wole Soyinka, along with Late Femi Ayantuga and other Yoruba intelligentsia sent Petitions to Ironsi to spare the lives of the coup plotter alleging that they were Heroes. That is why i advice you read wide and stop being stupid in your bid to malign igbos to please your pay masters. |
