BascoVanVeli:Poor selection ke? Its not like they have top guys with superb technical abilities on the pitch to make a difference. The gulf in quality is deep. Very! I'll call it what it is. A good coach will need to finetune those guys, but the naija bragado ho still ruin the game. They should all wake up and start to leave tantrums asides. Its outdated now. |

Simy scored goals in Serie A but ultimately his team went down. That is not the kind of Contribution that gets recognised by CAF awards in the presence of other contenders who has both the contributions and trophies to show for it. But taking nothing away from Simy. He was playing for the worst side in Serie A so his numbers stand as highly impressive. daveP: |

From Women's Football, Oshoala and Barcelona Femeni secured their Treble achievement today beating Francesca Ordega's Levante 4-2 in the Final of the Copa De La Reina (Spanish Women's Cup). So Oshoala have secured a treble achievement of Uefa Women's Champions league title, Spanish Primeira Iberdrola (Women's League) Title, and The Spanish Women's Cup Title. Congrats SuperZee, Africa's Women's football GOAT. A Fifth APOTY award will surely be secured next year becoming the first player (man or woman) to win five APOTY titles.

Edouard Mendy is NOT the first African GK to win the Champions League. He is the second. This should be common knowledge. A certain Grobbelaar won it first and dominated English Football between the sticks while at Liverpool. For context, Mendy is the first to win it in the current format called UCL (since 1992/93) but the actual first to win it in Full History was Zimbabwean Goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar in 1984 for Liverpool when the UCL was formerly known as the European Champion Clubs' Cup. Note: UCL Format will change again from 2024. So other first "in-that-format" contexts would still arise. elyte89: |

daveP:Did u not watch the match How can you blame the whole team for individual blunders? When Fred gave Iheanacho the perfect through ball at the fa cup nobody said that the whole of Manchester United was poor. U say there is a golf of class but we can only point to one single goal that was scored without the help of Enyimba defenders. I say it was the selection because Nelson Ogbonnaya should not have been on the pitch. He had been making mistakes all season. I was sure the coach was going to go with Yaro from Benin republic but he ended up benching Austin Oladapo one of their leading scorers. |

And when they did win the EPL, it was counted as number 19 league title for them and their first in the PL era. That's the context. Mendy, contextually, is the first in the UCL era but not the first in history. In history, he is the second. BascoVanVeli: |
