Don't know since the Streaming wars heated up they have just been panicking and doing panic buys and acquisitions for exorbitant prices. Prices I'd say they were robbed.
You no see the stupid deal they gave D&. The amount they paid for Knives Out and other similar buys and splurge of money.

They know you gotta spend big these days to amass fan base if not na OYO lo WA. The problem is they overspend on things that should be in moderation.

Also they know it's a MUST HAVE to get a BIG show that resonates worldwide that can be tied to the brand. Rn Netflix don't have that, except you wanna call stranger Things, The Witcher etc Enormous.
Disney+ got SW, Marvel|HBOMax got DC & GOT|Amazon got The Boys & LOTR| Netflix's doesn't measure up to the international appeal of those IPs.

Na my 2 cents be that.

LOTR Amazon events happened way before what we saw in the Trilogies. It's exactly at the beginning of Sauron making that ring to rule all. That's Millennia(thousands of years) before the events of Peter Jackson's LOTR/ The Hobbit. LOTR is even way more extensive than GOT that it can produce up to 20 series from it and there will still be some stories untold. I'm excited as fvvk. It should debut later this year. GOT hits Streaming next year.

Book readers for GOT just dey run mouth jare. Cos to the best of my knowledge the book for GOT final season– A Song Of Ice and Fire is still incomplete. Also G.R Martin has already affirmed that the ending of GOT is same thing that will happen in the final book. Although, the hurriedness and execution of season 8 was a bitter Experience.

It wasn't even the plot. Plot I can deal with. I enjoy Lucifer, after all. With Preacher, some subtle symbolism and background images just had way too much profanity than I was comfortable letting into my head. And just in the first act of the first episode! Couldn't risk it.
