I didn't know my account was a student account and a huge amount of money entered my account, FBN froze my account for a whole month!! It took them about 1month and two weeks before it was rectified.
Gosh that period was really frustrating.

Oh!! OP..I feel for you man....I can't imagine been a customer of an obsolete bank like that... They have the reputation of working on a snail pace before the foundation of the world...I Bet they got a killer interest rate that was enticing u guys if not, I don't see why people will ever dream of opening an account with them....

Anyways, as a customer, u should have known their working pace by now... so follow them based on their pace of you change bank....

That’s quite the inconvenience. I can’t afford to always visit the bank and there is the time constraint plus COVID-19 hasn’t made anything easy. One usually has to wait outside for some time before being granted entry to the banking hall.

Dear Nlers, I have tried handling this issue offline but it seems Firstbank is after me.

I never knew my First Bank Account was a student account. I opened it with all necessary documentation including a valid ID card and utility bill. I normally don’t use it to receive or send large sum of money because I have another account.

But this changed a month ago. I was credited N308, 000 on may 8th which was a Saturday. I got an email to visit a FBN branch and I noticed a restriction was placed on my account. I had an engagement on Monday the 10th so I couldn’t visit the bank, I went there on the 11th and I was made to provide all documentation and to fill a mandate form which I did. The Customer care staff told me it will take 7-10 working days to carry out the upgrade.


I waited for three weeks and nothing happened only to get to the bank and I was told that the branch I opened the account wasn’t responding to emails and hadn’t worked on my mandate form.


My landlord is about throwing me out of my apartment ( my rent has been due since the 15th of may), I’m hungry, sick and broke. Aside the initially N308,000 I have proceeded to deposit/transfer other large sums into the account so I have a sizeable amount in the account.


I’m considering suing the bank. Is there a lawyer willing to take up the case? I have already reported the issue to cbn via their complaint unit. Twitter is down so I can’t tag them or FBN on Twitter.

Yes, it was very inconvenient for me, I won't lie; exhausting and annoying to say the LEAST.
Lmao I didn't wait anything before entering the banking hall, I collected the phone number of the person in charge of my account and so it was easier for me to get in there without hassles and also I always did puppy face for the security personnels to allow me in.

If you can’t read, why not ignore? I was locked out of my account for a whole month and nothing happened. If I hadn’t escalated the issue nothing would have happened. Three weeks after I made the initial complaint, the form I was asked to fill, the mandate form and my ID document we’re completely abandoned. Next time, when you see a post you can’t read to understand, wake pass.
