Considering Nigeria is Africa's largest and most buoyant internet ecosystem with over 120 million users, and is projected to be the world's 3rd most populous country after India and China by 2050, I'd say she's worth potentially several billions of dollars to Twitter.

Now that that's cleared up, let's ask this question:

What is Twitter worth to Nigeria?

Virtually nothing.

There are many platforms lining up to replace them.

Sorry, but I told you this would be short and quick. undecided

Abdullahi, you've banned Twitter already, why do you keep creating senseless threads?
It's so obvious Twitter is actually living in your head rent free. undecided

Lol

You people are funny.

In truth, it’s the poor masses that are losing.

Those in government don’t care because they have enough loot to last them a life time.

Now let me break it down:
-there are people who make money off of Twitter either by influencing, e-commerce, consulting, arts and craft, look ehn, the list is long.
-people have gotten juicy contracts, life changing jobs off Twitter
-people have been able to get some justice against police harassment and brutality, extortion and extra judicial arrests from Twitter
-murderers have also been reported and fished out by collaboration of tweeps and our inept police force
-startups and companies have been able to raise numerous series fundings just by their CEOs sending a tweet or dm to know investors
-terrorists have also been carefully investigated and called out on Twitter
-companies in the bid to maximize their marketing reach have activated ads worth millions on Twitter and now that the platform is banned, we can all assume their money is wasted.

Twitter? Their stock is healthy, their making revenue. Jack is still a billionaire.

Good you said potentially. It means you're projecting into the future.

At present though, twitter is not making much from Nigeria. As a matter of fact. The number of active accounts on twitter from Nigeria (40m) is less than half of the number of followers of Donald Trump (88m) who got banned. The number of monetizable users is significantly less if you consider how many of those 40m is actually double and parodies and even fake.
However, almost all agencies of the Federal govt and states have accounts on Twitter. This helps in information dissemination. If each agency were to be paying Twitter for each tweet like they do for PBAs with the mainstream media, I bet it will be running into millions of dollars. In that sense, Twitter is actually saving Nigeria money and not making money from Nigeria.

Twitter can pay off your national debt and still have plenty of change.

Meanwhile.

impressive figures but poverty has negated all the points those figures could possibly have enhanced.

The problem with your argument is that Twitter is not unique technology.

You might as well say that using cars and buses is saving Nigeria billions since we don't need to walk everywhere!

If Twitter goes, there are MANY platforms that will do the exact same thing they are doing, and even more.

There is that Indian platform, Kooo, making very aggressive moves into the Nigerian market since the Twitter ban.

NO THEY CAN'T.

THEY THEMSELVES ARE IN DEEP DEBT, TO 5.2 BLLION DOLLARS, AND MADE ONLY 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS IN PROFITS LAST YEAR.

https://simplywall.st/stocks/us/media/nyse-twtr/twitter

So they are not in a position to pay off anyone's debt when they owe so much money themselves. wink

ONE RICH NIGERIAN can pay off Twitter's entire debt and even dash them money to pretend they made profits.

This ur analogy is very lame. Of course using cars and buses saves us billions than walking. Are you thinking well at all?
There are many platforms of course but we are discussing Twitter not any other platform.
I don't even want to get into the Kooo argument because it exposes the hypocrisy of you government supporters. Kooo is described on google play as an app for the Indian community. Your government goes and intrudes on the indian community social media space in a most shameless manner and instead of you cringing at that you are dancing about it. What next? Are we going to be learning Hindu? I thought you guys were very jealous of our sovereignty

Why are you so addicted to pax Americana that your mind cannot conceive of any digital service that doesn't emanate from there?

Abi dem jazz you?

Kooo operates in English, so it is crazy talking about 'Hindu'. They are expanding rapidly across the world.

Nigerian youths should look to build an app like Twitter instead of bemoaning the loss of Twitter like friggin' dependents.

India just like Nigeria are a third world country. Go and read the About of Kooo on google again. It says for the Indian community in Indian languages. You guys are sucking up to India. See how you are hyping and defending Kooo. Have you no shame? Where is your national pride?

Stop being a dunce.

We are talking about alternatives to your Twitter god.

Kooo are expanding, and have established in Nigeria.

The FG actually has an account with them.

Nobody stopped you young Nigerians from building an app.

The problem is you're too busy crying for Twitter to see the business opportunity staring you in the face.

Where is kooo office in Nigeria since they have established in Nigeria? Have they met the conditions set by the FG?

Or the condition is only for Twitter while Kooo are the new savior of FG? Silly things

No one is asking your permission dude.

The FG has already set up an account with Kooo.

If you like, don't join. Not by force.
