Good afternoon House,
I want to apply for study permit using my elder brother as my sponsor. He is 45years and 1am 40years. I have a BSc in Accounting (3.70/5) with over 8years banking experience. I was offered admission in Financial Planning (PGD)for Jan 2022.
I was shocked when someone told me that it will be difficult to get a study permit if I use my brother to serve as my sponsor. My elder brother is a business man.

Please I will appreciate if I can be properly guided so I would be sure I'm in the right direction both for the course and sponsorship.

Thank you.

Okay.. If you wish to stay back, you will need to apply for another program. make sure its pgd. Apply 8-6months to the end of the present diploma program. You have an advantage if you are in Canada while doing this

The bolded is a fat lie... Please you are good to go but you must submit your own account. Let you account hold the living expenses- $10,000cad while your elder holds the tuition fees for at least a year

Please can someone help me to review the sop I used in my first application to check for red flags. Thank you.

Let your senior brother move the funds to your account then you apply as if you are sponsoring yourself. I know someone who was rejected in similar circumstances to you but his bro was in Europe. The GCMS notes showed that visa officer thought the applicant was not established in Nigeria. Being married would help too.

Please I will appreciate if I can be properly guided so I would be sure I'm in the right direction both for the course and sponsorship.

You are matured applicant, Which means you should be able to show some level of financial capability.

Having a sponsor is good but think about your sponsor other financial obligations .

MhaameAhenkan:
Hello guys
Please I hope I could get some advice from you on my situation.
I put in my application in 15th March. Submitted my biometrics on 19th March.
My program start date was Intersummer but because I didn't hear from them since March I had to defer to Fall.
But I still haven't heard from them. I applied from Ghana with a government scholarship. I sent an email in April to the Accra immigration but they responded that it's under review which there hasn't been any
update again. My status is SUBMITTED.
I know of 2 other people who put in their applications in January but they have equally done biometrics only. We don't know what's happening.

Question
Do I need a new scholarship letter reflecting the fall?
How do I submit the new admission letter to my application?
What do you generally advice that I should do as I'm not sure whether the accra immigration are the people handling the application

Please can someone help me out with these
Thanks

Hello MhaameAhenkan,

If the letter doesn't state an elapsing validity period or is restricted to one intake, there is no need to send an updated letter.

The webform is used to advise IRCC on any newly available information which is also applicable in your case. Accra should be the visa office responsible for your country.

Heads up!

A government scholarship without a formal agreement between both governments is not a strong POF especially if the scholarship is issued by a ministry or department.

This is not to say otherwise, but to help you assess the situation. Since you have already submitted, you do not need to necessarily answer these questions, they are rhetoric.

Is there an education scholarship agreement between your government and the GoC?!

How was this scholarship granted, was it from a ministry, and was it liquidated?!

What evidence was provided to support the scholarship and has there been such a scholarship arrangement between both governments in the past before this time?!

If you are a mature applicant, did you include your employment evidence and personal BS?!

There are cons associated with using any government scholarship if it was not officially recognized and accented by the central.

Keep the house update on the outcome of your application.

Best of Luck

Please I have a question.

I don’t have a waec result. My neco result is available and I have a B.Sc. The school I applied to in Canada (Toronto school of management has offered me admission with just my neco result. Do I have to submit a waec result to the embassy for my application or will my neco result suffice?

Please I need to know before I pay the tuition deposit and apply for my visa.

Hello Gilb231,

You don't need to include your Neco or WAEC certificate. Your B.sc certificate is enough.

Hope you are aware that your prospect DLI does not offer a Post-Graduation Work Permit Program? Ensure to consider your options meticulously before making any payment.

Good morning everyone, I got my PPR this morning. This is my 2nd application, having been initially refused dec 2020 on financial status and personal assets, and family ties.

Timeline:

Applied feb 10th (there was no need for biometrics since it was 2nd time application)

Eligibility review started feb 17th

Got my gcms notes April 19th and the pre-assessment stated that I was going for a course that didn’t align with my undergraduate course of study and career as a Data Scientist. Also highlighted that I was being “funded by a professor” and that my family didn’t look well established. Anyway, I gave up as I had other opportunities. Through encouragement from different persons, I sent a short email and also raised a webform explaining that my program was fully funded research based masters at a top University in Canada, and that it is because of my excellent undergraduate degree and my experience as a data scientist that made me a fit for the program which is actually an engineering program under the faculty of agriculture, since my research involved the intersection of engineering(electrical sensing, automation and digital communications) and data analytics. I added link to my supervisor research page, a design thinking material I had with my supervisor detailing my research work, and also ensured to point that my masters was under the department of engineering and not exactly an agricultural program, that it was applied intelligent engineering to agriculture. (my supervisor was furious when I told him what the pre-assessment said, I reported it to the international office and they said nothing could be done aside appealing like as I have done). Then, for the finance, I drew their attention to my personal fund, to the research assistantship letter from the office of the associate dean of research and to my Uncle’s financial documents. But then, my research is fully funded, so every other financial documents I added were only met to explain to them that in case of eventualities, my Uncle can quickly cover a bit of my expenses. Then for family ties, I drew their attention to my mum and late dad’s landed properties, my study leave, my pension account and also quickly chipped in the fact that my Uncle is the governor of Edo state(I added Wikipedia link) and another of my Uncle is the CMD of UBTH(added Wikipedia link). Mind you, nobody has same surname as me. All had same surname as my mum, and they are actually my mum’s cousins. The point is, I didn’t really have to submit new documents, i just resent what I sent before but this time gave very very short and clear explanation to their concerns. These guys are overwhelmed as well, so they could mistakenly not see some stuffs, and I would advice we give very concise explanation to any concerns that might be raised.

May 5th I got medical request
May 25th went for the medicals and I couldn’t see clearly. I was scared. Lol.
June 2nd I passed medical and I started sending webform and emails twice weekly since my application has passed 8 weeks.
June 14th I got PPR and BVL.

Special thanks to justmellow, frankrobbn, Chocs and everyone that responded to my incessant emails and post here. Finally, it has ended in praise.

Please I need the information on what I need to put together for me to send my passport. Also, I want to resume in September instead of May, hope this won’t be a problem as my supervisor has agreed to this. I need y’all guidance. Thanks and God bless us all!

Congratulations bro. You must be really elated.

It should not be a problem resuming in September as long as you have your enrollment letter as proof you are registered for the semester.

September is a good time to come to Canada as the provinces plan to ease restrictions.

All the very best.

Hello guys,
Please I'm new here and I need your help cos I have no experience as regards Canadian travel processing.
So I got the handle of some guys on IG that promised to help with undergraduate program in University of Manitoba, no IELTS required cos weac will be used, it's going to be a work/study permit, and tuition will be paid over there, admission process within a month and visa within 3 months.. even though they promised payment after service, I still have reservations cos payment will be in two tiers, you pay for the admission fees as Soon as they're able to show you the admission letter and for Visa when going for the biometrics, I have like four of them... Will post their handles here... Please are they legit or scammers.. as much I love to travel to Canada, I don't want to be scammed.

Good morning guys, I have been reading updates from this site. Firstly, I am already skeptical about the chances I have. I had a masters in a European university and got back to Nigeria in a record time.
Now, I made applications, it was rejected on the grounds that I got no ties and all.
I have been reading through and noticed that people say, having an uncle sponsor and all won't get much from IRCC since it has to be from parent and all. I have some funds in the acc when I was reapplying like let's say 12m but didn't categorically say I'm self sponsoring, I still added that my uncle as a Co sponsor.

Does this mean I have no many chances cos I used an uncle who doesn't bear the same surname? Is this a visible red flag?

Hello Fav2deep,

A parent or a close family member sponsorship is indeed ideal and easily justifiable, but it doesn't also mean that using a third-party sponsorship will ruin the application chances. Though it may reduce it.

In your case, =N=12m is sufficient enough for you to act as a self-sponsored if the sitting funds can be historically traced without recent lump sums.

If you still decide to use your uncle as a co-sponsor, ensure that you demonstrate adequate proof of relationship to him. It is when a genuine relationship cannot be established that it becomes an issue.

Best of Luck

@Munando: I think it depends on the stage of the EE. If it is pre-ITA, not an issue because one is just in the pool swimming, so to speak. But if post-ITA, then it becomes an issue because a formal/official application has been submitted for PR. My humble opinion.

No that’s not correct. I have a pending formal PR application and I got medical request last week, of which my medical result has been updated to pass.
