Hello guys... yesterday was the worst day of my life...a day I don't think my dad would ever forget, even if he forgives me...

Let me go straight to the point...

My father and I got into a very bitter and frequent misunderstanding yesterday night, it got so bad that after much insults from my dad, I don't know where the devil came from or where the boldness came from, and made me call my dad a BASTARD..I rained abusive words on him that night in front of my younger siblings..

I packed my bags to leave the house to anywhere away from there (to run away) but my mom wouldn't let me go...so I stayed... Watching my mom shed tears, and after much thought, I began to regret my actions...

I am currently confused on what to do....I don't know how to approach my dad for forgiveness because he doesn't want to be near me..

Please guys, need advice on what to do...I don't want things to be like this for long...

Hmmm, you really fvcked up big time, person wey born you, na him u look am finish, call "bastard" chai.... I will advice you to look for one of his close friends, a priest or any elder that he respects very well. To help you talk to him.. If not if he lays a curse on you, Oyo is ur case. And pls if u are above 24, start planning to pack out from the house, because at that age you are not supposed to be staying with your parents, as a Man.

Learn to control your outbursts and go with your mom to ask for forgiveness.

For you to insult your father, it's over. What kind of useless anger is that? These are one of those things that even when all is forgiven, you will surely pay for it!

It's like a crime, even when the victim forgives you, you will still serve your sentence. You will pay squarely!

First off, call your younger siblings together and apologise to them for insulting their father. Beg them to go with you to apologise to your mother. All of you should go to your father and be very remorseful, apologise, hold his leg and ask for forgiveness. Plead with him to bless you and your siblings. If I were you, I will also tell them that I am already prepared for exit; I am sure he won't let you go.
May God forgive you.

Indeed it wouldn't. Ordinary simple lie I lied to my father aged 9 years old. He made me write "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee", 100 times and I have never ever forgotten to not lie!

He was not even a Christian at the time, the cheeky bugger! I so miss him sometimes.

A child bereaved of morals would result in treating his parents with disdain and bitterness. You surely have gone too far. When social media is your teacher and your mentors are those who call their country a shit hole and zoo, this is what the end result is. In your senseless rage and an uncontrolled burst of emotion, you could not realize that a son of a bastard is a bastard too. If you can insult your father you should be able to pacify him too.

we were listening to the news this morning(family of seven).. stories of insecurity every where, and the fear of war looming...then my dad said in pidgin:

"Any how wey this country like make ee dey,if them like sef make them start the war now now now... All I know be sey and long as long as God and money dey, we go dey fine, nonsense..."

I smiled so hard...I felt so proud and felt like hugging him instantly mehn....

Approach him when everything has subsided and apologize. Try as much as you can going forward not to let anger get a hold of you. It is normal to cry as such, don't hold too much emotions. Let it out when need be a it helps you manage your emotions.

Also apologize to your siblings and most importantly forgive yourself.

Please, do not involve outsiders no matter how close they are to your dad. This is a family issue and please treat it as one. Those you think he respects might end up adding to the disrespect and extend it to the entire family. You don't want to hear comments like "that is the family where a son insults the father".

Apologize to your father and shower him with love by doing things that please him. Give him reasons to be proud of you. Your father understands you are only human. I think the memory of this will be harder on you than on him.

The good part is that you have realized your error. You should go , possibly at night before he sleeps , prostrate yourself and ask for his forgives. I am sure he will forgive you. Make sure you show remorseful attitude.
