the reason for high rate of unemployment in nigeria today is just.... 1. GREEDINESS lack of contemptment is one of the major reason why employment is rarely available in nigeria today. imagine an employee earning #30,000 monthly still fighting for a government work of 15k just because he can do both at a time without a stress, 2. GODFATHERLISM many qualified youth are denied employment either because someone they know is not there or because nobody their knows him. 3. STINGINESS in some cases, 1,900 people will be employ for a work that deserve 2,000 employees and save the salary of the 100people for other circumstances they are not even sure of. 4. LACK OF CONTEMPTMENT one of the major reasons is because even the self employed will said that they are still unemploy 5. BY FORCE LUXURIOUS LIFE some others will fight for jobs they are not qualify for because it pays better One major reason is people like you. What kind of write up is this? None of these points actually addressed the main reasons for unemployment. It's normal for people (even in advanced climes to do multiple jobs to make ends meet so that's no offence. You really need to look deeper to see the factors of unemployment. - Government policies. - Insecurity - Skill gaps - Taxes - Under-development - Low standard of education - Low value of Currency - Inconsistent Electrical Power - Lack of strategic handshake between successive gov't etc. We can talk about a hundred other reasons for unemployment asides these. 6 Likes |

Misalignment between the expectation of the youth and the reality: Many youths are not aware that what it takes to be employed is than certificate, many are not ready to add anything to certificate and some ignore humble beginning as a way of acquiring the requisite skill that position them for job. 7. @OP You forgot to add "Failed system" This is a country where lawmakers earn hundreds of millions of Naira monthly for just sitting down in house doing God knows what.. Nigerian lawmakers are the highest paid in the world despite the economic downturn and job losses we're facing. None of them can think outside the box to better lives of the Nigerian youths but they sit and share the collective wealth of Nigerians. 2. Bad and incompetent leaders who see nothing wrong in importing generators into the country while the power sector is in complete mess.. those countries producing the generators don't use them because they have steady power and heavy sanctions on carbon emissions but here, we allow greed to take the wheel and expect things to be well. Power (electricity) is industry, power is creativity, innovation and job creation. 3. Religion and fake religious leaders telling people to pray and keep praying while things rot away.
