Banks gladly offers an umbrella, when the weather is sunny, and takes the umbrella away, when it starts to rain.
All the same banks loans can make one wealthy, if you do not spend it frivolously.

AmadiAba:
On Monday, June 21, 2021, some members of the staff of a prestigious bank in Nigeria, Heritage bank, launched a protest against Nigerian senator and Anambra governorship aspirant, Sen Andy Uba, IGBERETV reports.

About 15 Heritage Bank staff were seen in front of his Abuja residence holding up placards with write-ups like, “we need our depositors’ funds, Andy Uba; we have been patient enough Andy Uba; Andy pay your debt to Heritage bank,” etc.

In a video that surfaced a few hours later, it was revealed that Andy Uba has owed the bank a huge sum of money for several years. It appears that the Senator obtained a loan from Heritage Bank, and previous attempts by the management to reclaim the debt have proven abortive. According to the employees, his debt is so enormous that it poses a threat to the employment of some of the employees of Heritage Bank.

Sen Andy Uba, who is an aspirant in the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, has yet again soiled the parties garment, thereby lessening their chances of victory in the election. In view of the APC party primaries scheduled for Saturday, 26 June, stakeholders have already begun to reconsider his eligibility for the party ticket.

This is not the first time Sen Andy Uba is being affiliated with financial mismanagement. Several years ago, Andy Uba was confirmed to be involved in money laundering in the United States of America. Even more, he has been involved in an educational fraud scandal. These discoveries put a giant question mark on his character and ability to administer transparent governance in Anambra state.

Further speculations insinuate that he could be in the governorship race to siphon state funds to offset personal debts. Party Stakeholders say this is not the kind of leader needed in Anambra state because as the Igbo saying goes “onye aka n’akpa bu onye ori.” This translates in English to “anyone who has a hand in someone else’s pocket is a thief.”

nonsense idiots who were hired to spoil Uba chances of being elected. Even if Uba owes the banks,no bank can allow it's staff to embark on such nonsense.the MD and manager of the bank know the steps to take to get their money back through legal means and not through this silly sponsored protest by shameless urchins

Will all this make him pay the debt even if he’s really indebted to the bank. Why have they not Instituted a suit against him for recovery of debt at the appropriate court? It’s a civil wrong with phletora of avenues to address same. This is really petty and playing into the hands of politicians. In as much as Sen Andy Uba isn’t a saint, protesting with cardboard in front of his residence is disappointing for a bank like Heritage bank

They resorted to this because going to court is exercise in futility. The bank erred big time by giving him loan since he is classified as PEP (politically exposed personnel) and there's a policy against issuing such people loan.

Though they just worsened their case because Andy Uba will fail and still won't pay them let them write it off as bad loan while seek for a huge deposit to cushion the effect.

Sad

But my gripe with some of these banks is that they hardly would consider the loan requests of the average Nigerian for small sums. Or would require high value collaterals where they do.

However, they offer huge loans to VIPs sometimes without adequate collaterals. On the grounds of fact that these people are popular.

Now when they fail you, you try to sway public opinions by calling it "Depositors funds".

How's it Depositors' funds?
Why not a write-off against the banks profits?
After all banks through loans 'create' money an profit in an economy. Is his loan up to 0.5% of the banks PAT for 2020?

My own is why send their staff to go and protest for something that one of the higher ups did. I bet u the person that granted the loan to Andy uba is not among them. They will send you for debt recovery when they are the one that approved the debt. Other banks should learn from heritage bank and stop giving these politicians loan.. Just like their campaign promises, everything about them is fake.

Funny thing is he can institute an action against them for this simple charade. In their defense will obviously deny the protesters as staff of the bank and deny liability.

What makes you think they haven't done all what you suggested? As if the nigerian justice system is something to trust in. They have the right to protest in front of his house, if he don't like the embarrassment he should just pay his debt. Nigerian politicians are crooks and the people are fed up of their lies and fraudulent activities.
The law doesn’t work that way my friend. He definitely has collateral with which he collected those loans. There is no need to be emotional about this and it won’t even solve the issues at hand. Just wait and see what will happen next as he would sue them for the so

You are a learner, mumu!

The law courts have been badly compromised by corrupt judges. The bank has no choice but to engage in this kind of embarrassing actions. The banks need to do more of this to ridicule their delinquent debtors.
In driving your point you need not insult anyone. Funny enough you ended up insulting yourself as you’re as ignorant as those protesters there. Are you the one who compromised the judges? Do you even have an idea what this is all about? I forgive you anyway

Good for the bank as well.... Only a prodigal fool borrows rich man money.

As a politician, what business do you think he's doing that makes you borrow him other people's live savings and investment?

Which law doesn't work that way? In which country? grin nigeria is a lawless country no one obeys the law in nigeria. So you believe he has colaterals? A fake colateral he presented or the ones he has already sold off and kept the money in foreign banks?

There are no law suits for embarrasment, it doesn't exist. Besides he owes them money they have every right to embarras or harass him.

I don't know what kinda naive world you live in..

And are you not relieved such a man's ambitions are being 'derailed'. Is he not a potential danger to state coffers.

In saner climes a whiff of such behaviour and actions and such a person is politically toxic and unelectable.

With such attitude some of us are clearly not ready to discard our chains.

For certain business loans ur physical collateral isn't enough or readily available to meet up so they use ure reputation, name or office verifying the use of the loan and ability to not default.

This is a lie. Get your facts right. CBN do audit banks to check compliance with conditions necessary to drawdown of credit etc.

1. THE VIDEO CLIP REFERS TO HIM AS HIM AS 'DISTINGUISHED SENATOR'. WHAT IS DISTINGUISHED ABOUT A PERSON WHO BORROWS MONEY IRRESPONSIBLY WITH NO INTENTION TO PAY?.

2. AFTER THE PROTEST AGAINST THE SENATOR, THE BANK STAFF SHOULD ALSO ORGANIZE ONE AGAINST THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF HERITAGE BANK THAT APPROVED THE LOAN IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.
