Politicians and community chiefs will be the beneficiary of the money and not the targeted most affected by the damage.
They will sit in Abuja and share the money among themselves to the last kobo,.we have seen this too many times in this country...
My fear exactly

let them go !
in their COUNTRY, they don't cause these types of environmental damage !

michlins:
I see more oil companies exiting Nigeria. Granted they caused economic and environmental damages to the community but there's no way they will pay this amount and still be in business especially with the way the world is moving forward to green energy.

Another thing is that this will encourage other communities to jump into the wagon and many lawyers will take up such cases without asking for a dime from the communities until judgement awards billions and they take percentage.

This "awa oyel" we will eventually drink it grin grin grin

In Ibeno oil money is always shared across family line, so let not be negative oga
You're very correct. I am from one of the villages in Ibeno. Though base in Lagos. I and all my siblings have already filled and submitted the oil spillage form to the head of my village. When it is eventually received by the village I will get mine. I have gotten similar funds in the past when I was staying at Calabar. Even my wife and children will benefit as long as form was filled for them.

The next thing now is inter-communal killings over how to share the money even before the money is paid.

Ibeno is a LGA comprising of several villages.

The money is for just 1 local government.

but was it a CSO or group of individuals that went to court, or the LGA ?

If the LGA was not involved, it will not receive the money!

I suspect the LGA no get liver to take government to court

which one be Village counsel or elder ?

ok. the villages used the services of a solicitor - so the LGA is out of the equation. no money for them, then. this was the mistake Ken saro wiwa and co. made.
instead of going to court, they were protesting.

may his soul rests in peace.
