BBC: Buhari Broke his promise to End medical Tourism In Nigeria by Warripikine: 12:54pm On Jun 25, 2021
Since the beginning of 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has spent more time in the UK for medical treatment than he has in his own country. By seeking treatment abroad, Buhari broke one of his own electoral promises – to end medical tourism

He has spent over $1bn (£690m) on foreign medical trips alone, most of which was unnecessary.

Not forgetting the cost of parking Buhari’s plane during his spell in London which is estimated at £360,000. That’s equivalent to about 0.07% of Nigeria’s N304 billion budget allocation for health. And there would have been many other heavier costs incurred during his stay.

Mr Buhari has failed to lead by example by using Nigerian doctors and facilities, and ensure government officials do not go abroad on "frivolous" medical trips,

The UK has more than 3,000 Nigerian-trained doctors, and the US more than 5,000 but he has failed to address the brain drain by improving working conditions and health centres..

Shut up! If you're not being paid, how on earth do we explain your defence of failure and backwardness.. ?
You love the health care system abroad, but you completely oppose every attempt to replicate such system here.. Health care affects everybody, irrespective of your party affiliation. Even if you must support sleepy Buhari, know when to draw the line.

Counter a stupid argument when the National budget is published annually and we know what goes to travels of Mr President and you are here decieving your fellow Ipobians that $1bn is 600billion naira, or that Presidency drew 600 billion for medical tourism

This is a matter of common sense Na

So literally anyone who criticizes the government is an "ipobian"?

The BBC is "IPOB"?

Is this how you people reason?

You say anyone is free to travel outside of the country for medical check-up?

Are they REALLY?

With the country having the highest percentage of people in extreme poverty in the world, how are millions of Nigerians actually free to travel outside of the country for healthcare, especially with the president doing so with public money? Who exactly would allow the common Nigerian to do the same with public money? Remember that this is the same man who banned many imports and told Nigerians to patronize Nigerian goods.

Why can't government engage in its responsibility and fix healthcare for everyone in the country?

Maybe you need to check the amount spent to only park his private jet first not to talk of other expenses to be incurred.

Nigeria's total budget recurrent expenditure is always within 3trillion, 600 billion can't. Go to just Buhari's travel, not even the entire Presidency or civil service

Even the whole of National Assembly budgets 150 billion
