Dear Beemers,
Please I a about to buy a BMW and currently have 2 options. One is the BMW 320D (manual gear and diesel engine) while the other is a 330i. Both are 2007 model.

Please help a brother on the pros and cons so as to make an informed decision.

Please avoid diesel engine. The parts are not readily available.

I have a 2008 BMW 320i. Its economical on fuel and still loaded with much power.

The engine is high pitched, hence sends some very husky tones, down the exhaust pipe........

It's not loud, except you rev it hard.

Not true. They actually pull and climb hills better than gasoline engines because of the enormous torque advantage they have at low rpms.

If part availability is not a concern, I'd take the 320d. It's not slow. The fuel economy is awesome. How do you like seeing 900km range on your dashboard with a full tank?

And it is no slouch either.

Boss, if I was in his shoes and it's not a daily driver, I'd pick the diesel. The parts dey ladipo. Apart from engine, trans (maybe), ecu, fuel system and dpf, every other thing is the same. Same pads, same disc, same usual maintenance items.

pH to Abuja, my guy no even enter filling station with his 318d. Even on the way back. Na for warri him refuel on the way back. I was amazed at the fuel economy.

Then again, I am not him and he may not have access to diesel mechs in case something goes wrong.

Personally, I would go and learn the ropes of being a diesel mech, get a network(reliable) of parts suppliers , then happily buy the diesel.
