i have not used it, but dont waste money on that bro.

Thanks for this heads up. I wonder why it always comes with issues.

Not using 2v batteries oo. I run my setup on 20 solid units of 200A batteries at 48v
That large volume of batteries are well balanced using looping apart from using 5 equalisers. This prevent one battery running away from others. They dip and grow charge almost equally.

Damn, that's a huuuuuuuuuge bank of batteries. What make is this? If you have time you can share your schematic of your wiring.

Is there anything i can do to save a runaway battery?.
Voltage gets to 15.6volts, while other batteries in series are 14.4volts.
From the graph we can see the history, will upload another image when its really high.

I have added a balancer last week, but nuthing appears to be changing

Battery C is the bad battery with the voltage spikes, green graph too.
4fla in series

See a clearer graph showing the voltage spike. This lasts for about 1 to 2 hrs, just before float.
Batteries are about 1yr old, this bluetooth ha12 balancer installed barely 1wk ago

I'm only working at probably importing one, not DIY yet. I feel the imported could serve as a pedestal for future DIY.

Talking about electric cars in Nigeria, we just may have keyed in early than we anticipate with a new entrant into the fray. My statement is safely assuming ignoring the Hyundai Kona which is from mainstream car maker and with a base price on the high side.

Sorry, won't be able to post the link as the 5tvpid bot struck again with the main account concerning this same post.

300 kilometers mileage on full charge ain't bad. And 2hrs to full charge from zero is manageable for a van. I also think 5 years battery lifespan is a little too short for comfort. But it's a good start nonetheless.

One good thing I noticed about E-vehicles is that a lot of small startup companies are entering the niche, some even measuring up to tesla performance in speed, mileage and recharging duration. This is aside from guys that will even prefer to DIY rather than buy because main requirements are an electric drive training, batteries (which China is happily providing for the world), a motor speed controller and a light body/framework to house them. You can add other accessories as choice based on the level of luxury desired.

The import of this is that prices will likely be down to very affordable levels.

Tubular / flooded deep cycle battery maintenance distilled water & electrolytes now available!

Hydrometer ..... 4,000
Distilled water 1L (12 in pack) ... 5,000
Distilled water 25L (with free gallon) ... 7,000
Electrolyte (Accurate specific gravity) ...9,000

Provided the specific gravity of Electrolyte used is within what the battery type and brand allows, there is no cause for alarm on whether you top batteries with distilled water.

The reason distilled water are used for top up is because, during the electroysis (when battery is charging and discharging), what escape is water vapour and not the ions contained in the Electrolyte.
The ions migrates and sticks to their respective electrodes.

The water vapour that escapes makes the indicator level drops. As soon as distilled water is used to top up, the Specific gravity of the entire system is kept constant.

Cultivate the habit of buying Electrolyte and distilled water from SMARTCELL and you will have nothing to worry about..

It has been a while I touched a flooded battery but I am pretty sure you cannot randomly top up electrolyte after the initial fill up to commission the battery for use.

Electrolyte and distilled water are not interchangeable as far as I know.

If you were trying to rejuvenate a battery, one may add fresh electrolyte after first dumping the old fluids and 'flushing' the cells a few times or if there was some liquid spillage and the SG needed to be restored to spec one could add the right amount of electrolyte.

The bot is paranoid grin

Though 5 year battery life is kinda small, but for a start we can manage it if it's competitively priced. Nothing beats charging your EV from your renewable energy and hitting that road without a thought for gasoline. cool

Someone I know is currently building an electric tricycle. Bought the batteries, motor, and controllers in China. They will do a local fabrication of the body in Nigeria.

wow, 15.6VOLTS thats quite high for a battery to be exposed to continously. no response from anybody, seems all man don port go lithium o grin grin

that behaviour is called runners in lifepo4 cells, and the way it is resolved is by draining that particular cell a little, and then the bms will continue dooing the rest, if this doesnt work..the cell is removed and replaced with a healthy cell.

make other experienced people come chook mouth,

Aaah it is nothing special. I got the looping idea from 24v fangpunsun battery balancer.
And tried it. Few months thereafter, I realised that Oga Niyiomolyunade understood the trick too because
He elaborated on it. He specifically said batteries will work like a giant battery bank. He was very correct. That was my experience too.
Coming to schema
At 48v, you have 5 pararell of 200A batteries making 48kwh of well balanced storage.
Just loop wire at every point of 12v , 24v & 36v across the 5 pararell. In my case I got 10mm wire for the looping
This looping across 5 pararell ensures that at each point of voltage eg 36v is 36v irrespective of place it is being pararelled whether it is string 2 or 5. Literally, looping balance out voltage vertically while equalisers balance out horizontally within each string.
Being DIY am pretty poor with explanation but I hope this suffices.

Edited
Mind you I said well balanced storage because my maximum over night need is just around 40% of the capacity (or 90% for 50% DOD rule for LA batteries which they're ) when on air conditioning. However, when not and it is just fans and lighting points, the bank is 98 to 100% charged the following morning. The daily cycle continues hopefully for the next 3yr having spent 3yr head on already. For now no fancy of lithium technology yet. I still dey ported to LA like the creator of this thread. So help me God!

I see. I took that picture from Google, btw. Do you mean anything set up with those tiny cells even the good ones won't last?

No, I don't mean that. Tesla model X and S car batteries are setup with 18650 cells and they do last.

The key is to setup with legit cells.
