Unilag must be commended for refusing to be politically correct because Chidinma is innocent until proven guilty.

She's the victim here.
A naive young girl, tricked, bullied, drugged and sexually exploited by a man old enough to be her dad. Considering she was under the influence of drugs when the murder took place.

It is a case of involuntary manslaughter bordering on self-defense amidst a moment of temporary insanity.
Wow... so stupid people like you actually exist on nairaland, this is interesting

See diplomacy at play.

The school doesn't want to be dragged in chidinmas mud at the same time, respecting the authority and seeking approriate involvement in the matter.

I hope the youth especially those in the Uni can see all these.
If you like, when your parents struggle to send you to school, go there and start living a reckless life until youre found a tool worthy to be used for destructive assignment.

Don't face your studies.

Naturally the school will deny her soon... They just need the police to conclude their investigation. Once she plead guilty at court they will disown her.

Such a shame.... A cheap shame for that matter. Sincerely she is a lucky bitch.... Self defense will be used at the court.... She'll get a minimum of 4 years. Come out and continue her life.

I'm saying this base on the picture of the dead body released. Multitude stab wounds even on the leg of the corpse might go well for self defense after all the deseased was an amateur boxer that posed as a threat to her.

Using the fact that she was also acting on drugs will reduce her sentence. Her lawyer might plead for a lunatic immunity.

Such a waste
lawyer?

Self defence might reduce her sentence but acting on drugs will not. By “lunatic immunity”, do you mean she will not get the death sentence because that's the only good thing about the defence of insanity . In fact a plea of insanity will have her put away in an asylum indefinitely. She can't rely on that too because being high on drugs doesn't equate to insanity. There is a high probability that she might be sentenced for manslaughter not murder

As a father to a teenage girl I do pity the little girl and wonder at what point a 21 year old girl could kill a man old enough to be his dad. Could avoiding side chicks spare men from such brutal occurrences.? I have seen men given a new lease to life by side chicks or njoumba as we call them in Cameroon. I have seen many men die from the cruelty of their wives. Do we now say men shouldn't get marry nor have side chicks.

I find the news of a 50 year old man smoking and getting high with a 21 year old extremely worrisome. It certainly wasn't a good party for both parties. Silvio Berlusconi onetime Prime Minister of Italy was indicted for having paid sex with a seventeen year old Moroccan girl. He was 74 and the girl was a minor. Most of those condemning Mr Usifo are heavily involved in extra marital affairs. Last week I was consoling a pastors wife from leaving the husband. The husband has been sleeping with a new church member for financial gains, abandoning his family in the process

Personally I think the little innocent looking girl killed the man in his sleep. The absence of visible marks on her body makes self defence holds no sway. I guess after she must have have played the emotional blackmail game of getting the man's pin the motive and reason to kill became strong.

Involuntary manslaughter is definitely not what you think it is. It applies to acts of gross negligence like motor accidents. Sentiments like a “naive young girl” won't work in court. Being high DOES NOT equate temporary insanity. Please, for all young people out there, the fact that you were high on drugs does not exclude you from liability for your actions . A plea of Insanity does not help your case i,n fact it can make things a whole lot worse.

How can she ever get a fair trial with the mock press, police and public trial? It's such a useless police criminal investigative system in Nigeria. She is a very young woman and a victim of a wayward, lawless and structureless society that has compelled otherwise ambitious young women like her to become sex workers to fund their baseless and brainwashed education and living.

Is it the police that will write the school or the school will act based on judgement of the judiciary. For now she is a suspect.
