From what he is saying.... they will never take action. They have to receive official report from the Police or court before action can be taken. What court or Police in the world does that? .. send report to a school? She is in court ... on trial... isn't that more than enough to take action? ... at least suspension? His statement is a disgrace to the university ... speaks a lot about the people in power there.
Unilag is a celebrity school... Lol.... They will not take action until she is proved guilty by the court .... I believe that's the protocol. That's my school protocol tho.

Though based on some investigative journalism, she is not the only person involved....and guess what??it seems the wife herself have some questions to answer.....some new developments are popping up...and it is beginning to look like a "set up" gone wrong....it seems the chidinma was used by some certain people to set the man up and prove his extra-marital affair so that the wife can use that as an evidence when filing for a divorce......it seems that according to law, there is a way you can get financial benefit when a woman divorces her husband with evidence that he cheated on her.....I am waiting for the lawyers in the house to come in ..

The self-defence agenda being pushed by some is complete bollocks.

Self-defence against what?? It's not like the guy was trying to kill her or hurt her physically as there were no bruises on the Girl. Let's even assume that it's true that the guy was trying to have sex with her when she wasn't in the mood. Is the next logical step for an innocent girl to get a knife to stab him to death when you know that having sex with him was the basis of your relationship with him?

Let me rephrase for dingbats pushing the self-defence narrative: As the Aristo that she does for a living, she was fully aware that the reason he rented a short-let apartment for her was for him to be screwing her at will and in return she gets the cash as agreed. Her Big god then wants to have round 2 sex with her after he has taken plenty drugs which she ordered for him, yet somehow she thought her life was under threat and she stabs him multiple times to death. Yet, there were no physical marks on her body to prove that he tried to hurt her for someone way bigger and stronger than her. How convenient that she recorded a flawless victory! Does this make sense at all?

- It makes no sense that she thought killing the guy was a commensurate action to him wanting to have sex with her when that's what you do for a living
- It makes no sense that she didn't have any marks on her body for such a David and Goliath fight when the hunky guy was trying to hurt her as claimed
- It makes no sense that she easily gained possession of a knife which was supposed to be in the kitchen when he was trying to sleep with her
- It makes no sense that the first step she took after killing him was to steal his money when she should have been hit by remorse and so disoriented by the accidental murder to be that much coordinated afterwards.
She is not alone in this mess, it an arranged killing.

Let wait for the autopsy before we make conclusions.

I'm saying this base on the picture of the dead body released. Multitude stab wounds even on the leg of the corpse might go well for self defense after all the deseased was an amateur boxer that posed as a threat to her.

Using the fact that she was also acting on drugs will reduce her sentence. Her lawyer might plead for a lunatic immunity.

1.How do you establish a case of self defence when the victim is drugged and has multiple stab wounds, and the murderer has no scratch nor admitted in any hospital for treatment?

2. And she couldn't dispose off the drugs and report the case to the police or even alert neighbours or the Airbnb staff?

3. Dead bodies can be positioned the way their murderers want them to stay.

4. How do you establish that she got the pin willingly from the deceased and not from threats and tortures from the stab wounds?

1.The accused was also wounded check the first picture released by the police. And the accused was equally drugged just like the deseased. Nobody goes to the hospital to treat a punch wound.

2. Doing that might have complicate her cos along the line a urine test will be conducted and an autopsy of the deseased will also show drug traces. Our client knowing this decided not to report to the police but let them discover the body themselves. Our client was never criminal minded my lord, she was about to turn herself in and that is the reason she never left lagos.

3. There was only 1 place with traces of blood. This shows that the deseased was killed by at the same spot.

4. Was there any place in the deseased body that suggest a toture wound. Perhaps a rope to bind him or a cloth to gaude his mouth?.

Let's just leave this the way it is sir.... I have great respect for dead people.

You probably didn't grow in an enlightened environment. UNILAG is one of the pioneer Academic institutions in Nigeria, founded in 1962. Currently one of the most popular universities among undergraduates, with 1/8 of university aspirants in Nigeria applying for admission there.

1. A self defense case might go well in the court. A premeditated murder will been smoother perhaps with a slit of throat or posion or by blocking the nasal flow the deseased.

2. Her lawyer might plead that she got scared and posing that she had drugs with her she dread what the law might say about her.

3. The accused never left the state where the crime was committed... Infact she stayed at a predictable place..

4. The Atm pin was given to her by the deceased before he died which according to the lady was willing.

I hope I countered your 4 points well. A celebrity case like this is seriously hard to predict but let's wait for the results.... I'm in no way related to the lady or supporting her... I'm just guaging facts

Thank God for your life that you aren't a lawyer otherwise these lines of defence will get your clients into trouble. These are my responses to your submissions:

1. Someone who accidentally killed in self defence wouldn't stab his or her victims several times. Usually, the intention in self defence is to destabilize the assailant and escape

2. Fear of what the law would say about having drugs in your system is not a defence in a possible murder or manslaughter case. It is never an excuse. There is a reason why drivers are not to abscond from accident scenes even if lives are lost. Leaving the crime scene without turning yourself in to the police leads to complications that wouldn't help the defence team.

3. Not leaving the State where the crime was committed is not the same thing as not taking flight from the crime scene.
Leaving the scene of the crime without reporting to the nearest police station for several days showed that she wanted to conceal her crime and evade justice.

Remember that she didn't even tell her dad of what happened even if she could have lied to her dad that she accidentally killed a man who wanted to rape her.

Further questions would reveal what happened to the blood stained clothes she wore on that day and the amount of blood at the crime scene.

Were there attempts to clean up the scene?

4. Assuming without conceding that the late Ataga gave her his pin while alive, the right to use that PIN and ATM card expires the moment he died to the knowledge of the girl.

How do you justify the "killing of a man in self-defence against sexual assault and withdrawal from the man's account after killing him in self-defence"?

I understand that you aren't related to the lady and might just be considering the various possibilities. But the truth is that this girl's case is a very BAD one and self defence wouldn't suffice.

Too bad that she killed the man and decided to waste her own life.

You didn't grow up amongst academically strong company. UNILAG has the best Engineering school and that remains the only Engineering school that will never accept you without 6 credits which must include minimum of credit in Further Maths. I particularly know that the dream of every academically strong student, especially those who grew up in Lagos, is to work very hard to secure admission placement in Engineering.
Every UNILAG student gets admission with a result above the minimum requirements of all Nigerian schools and most people hating on UNILAG don't even merit the admission or the pride of the University of Lagos, university of first choice. Chidinma will have her day in court. Please let the court decide.University of Lagos is not a village school that responds to social media gossips .

As you must have noticed, most Akokites are not here on Nairaland or engaging in the idleness of debating this issue on the social media outside their platforms . They will feel let down and handle it with grace.

University of Lagos is a first generation university with the experience to handle issues like this and that DVC is an Akokite too. We will not disown her yet #proudlyakokite

Most people at an accident scene prefer to pick wallets and phones instead of helping the victims. Most consciences are dead. Even the death of christ didn't stop most of us from premarital sex.

Your attempt at playing defense counsel is hilarious.

Your client was about to turn herself in several days after killing someone in self defence yet even when the news broke out in several news media she didn't turn herself in until policemen expended tax payers' money to narrow the murder down to her.

If it was that easy a lot of criminals would have escaped justice.

You people should even be thinking of how raise funds for her to get very good lawyers because the family of the Deadman are wealthier and can afford the services of accomplished SANs.
